I wish there was an option to build new space centers around Kerbin or even on other planets. I imagine it would work by mining ore and converting it with electricity, maybe on kerbin it costs money, but on other planets it costs ore or other kinds of resources

I agree with all of these but I want to add something here. It's basically the same thing as glue- but rather, weld. I want to be able to build a ring (or any other shape) of parts that start one place, go around, then end up back at the same place, and actually FUSE TOGETHER STRUCTURALLY. I am sick and tired of wiggly parts barely held together by tons and tons of struts. If two parts touch together- they should structurally connect. Several lines of plane wing parts made to be one large wing? Either they flop around seperately or I tie them together with struts- but even then they wiggle some. I want them to become one physical entity structurally/physically. That's my personal #1 thing for KSP that would improve it.

@socially_mute7086 4 жыл бұрын
@@SkyBlazeMinecraft if a ring is made of 100+ parts, then no. Not only are they all counted as separate objects in the phys engine, but they create more strain because autostrut is an extra condition being applied, which only worsens the deal. Welding, on the other hand, makes those 100+ parts into just one, removing almost all strain on the system... which unfortunately doesn't work in 1.7 as of right now.

For surface exploration it could be improved by adding a few randomly generated types of ground objects (like different rock formations) on different planets and moons that give you additional science if you take a sample from them. That way you'd have places to drive if your rover.

"And no multiplayer is NOT among them" *flips the table in rage* YOU FOOL, YOU'VE DOOMED US ALL! I've always wished we could have multiplayer where players start on different parts of Kerbin. I could make a top ten list of WAYS THAT MULTIPLAYER WOULD IMPROVE KSP. -Trading resources, science, and money with other players! -Renting out the new telecommunications system! -Believe it or not there are a number of things that a single player can't do, most of these revolve around the fact that anything in the atmosphere that isn't either piloted, or within 10 feet of something that is, is immediately deleted. Others are just things that take hours to do on your own, like unpacking and assembling a massive moon base. -Being able to trade and rent actually gives you an incentive to go to far off moons and planets to get science and set up relays! -Fuel stations would be more enjoyable to build and maintain when others can come an buy fuel from you. Instead of just being 2 wasted missions to get it up there and refuel it, instead of just putting more fuel on the rocket in the first place. -Being able to show off your massive spacecraft to people! -Building an actual ISS with co-operation from the other players -Ships that have to be assembled in space could be launched 2 or 3 parts at a time with help from friends. -You could even sell your blueprints! Or actual ships already in orbit! -Your friend who sucks got themselves stuck on the moon, NOW YOU CAN HELP THEM! and visa versa. 10! that's TEN.

It's d-mp.org/ Dark Multiplayer, but there's so many problems with it that can only be fixed from the developer's end. Mostly issues with 2 ships being piloted in the same space, the game handles that very poorly and the game constantly tries to delete things that other players are flying in the atmosphere. Not to mention some of the incredibly weird issues with players being in the future of the past so that everyone can use independent time warp and the issues that causes, like how a player 30 years in the future can refill a fuel depot and another player in the past can then pick up that fuel. And there's still no ownership system for parts and ships. Plus on career, because everyone uses the same base, it's automatically put to max building level with an infinite supply of Kerbals.

I think that I would be nice to be able to preplan missions from the tracking station. I also think that it would be cool to have automated ships that can run their own (repetitive) missions. Example: You have flown a mining ship to another planet and you want it to mine, fly into orbit, dock with a space station that processes the ore, transfer the ore, refuel, land, repeat. You must be able to conduct the mission yourself at least once (maybe multiple times to increase the automated mission's success). Another example would be automating a cargo vessel that takes materials from the aforementioned space station to a shipyard orbiting Kerbin. This would make for a great late game where you need to build a telemetry network then a space logistics network in order to amass a lot of materials (or wealth) to make larger ships that might have interstellar capabilities. A stock life support option would be nice too.
@doublebubleguy12

I think a nice edition would be the chance of failure for automated processes kinda like in the real world but you should be able to toggle this option off in easy mode.

Kerbal Operating System (kOS) can pretty much do this, but you must learn the code. Honestly, I've never written anything more complicated than cmd batch scripts or powershell one-liners, and I can hack it. Current project is automated launches direct to space station, i.e. Soyuz personnel capsules and Progress refuel/resupply missions. Function library calculates the launch window, warps to it, and begins the automated launch process. By the time we reach our target space station distance is ~2.4km and dropping, no Hohmann transfer or circularization burns required (working on accuracy to get us even closer!). Script requires exact launch values to be accurate tho, so drawback is it requires measurement launch ASAP -> save results data to file -> revert to launch -> read results data, & begin direct intercept launch at window. So it's only really practical for repeatable launches, like Soyuz or Progress. That way you only load your refuel vehicle from the launchpad at KSC, and it automagically launches itself directly to your station. Final goal is a completely portable script with all functions packaged into libraries, so you only have to tweak the ascent profile for a different particular ship.

In addition to kOS, there's another mod I'm thinking of downloading (can't remember the name right now), that I'd use for refuelling and launching/rendezvous/docking space station modules since I'm especially horrible at the rendezvous procedures.

The lack of pre-planning is what makes it all so amateurish "Hey build this and this and this and do this and this with this", the missions places demands on new players that the winging-it style (that the old pro`s are good at) just doesnt allow for.

Adding a actual cost for having kerbals off of kerbin for long periods of time, adding Mech-jeb to stock KSP, and adding a way to do a game reset in return for lots of materials available to pre-load into a craft (and to add material storage limits, and buildings that increase the storage limit, and costs for resources that you don't make yourself.) and also making the game more difficult. I think these would make KSP a better game to play in the long run. Do you?

Random events in the game, like finding unknown technology on a planet i've been surveying or finding random structures and have functionality. Not like the obelisks and easter eggs. Like find a spacecraft not from our solar system and maybe giving me special missions to bring back the craft. Another thing don't let the game load every single part in the game. just load the parts i'm using or something like that. And give us the ability to actually travel many light years away to other galaxies. Another thing, I'd definitely love to build mega structures on other planets and moons.

Agreed about impracticality with propulsion systems in the game. There would have to be some kind of fusion engine or Orion drive at the bare minimum. Time warp makes it better, but you'd still have to have a way to get up to at least 0.1c and then slow down on the other end without dedicating the entire craft to the propulsion systems and fuel tanks. For an idea of what I'm talking about, check out the end-game tech in the KSP Interstellar Extended mod.

You are absolutely right, of course. Right now you "can" do a lot of things in the game that are cool but don't really make sense from stock gameplay point of view. I was just thinking of a veeeery old C-64 game called space station I think, where you designed and built your space station and had contracts to do science stuff up there. You could for example research better pesticides for the farm industry, which then required the proper specialists and modules etc. in orbit to do the research and start bringing in cash. It should not be too hard to extrapolate the current mission system for more complex missions like this. Part failures and micrometeorite damage etc. would also make for great repair and maintenance missions for existing structures (some of which could be generated by the game). There's a lot mods can do but mods can also conflict with each other and go out of date.. incorporating more and more mods like RSS into the stock game as options would be very super indeed.

I'm glad you brought up having an End Game. I think that in both crafting and survival games the common mode of operation with fans is "I't doesn't need to end, that's just how the games work" but my big problem w/ that is it's essentially an excuse to cut out desirable content. Having an End goal doesn't mean having something that will make the credits roll, just means having something that you can constantly work towards that's not just *surviving* or *crafting* and helps make the game feel less shallow.

Feel I wanted to give a bit of reflection from someone who's a bit more on the "filthy below 200 part normal" category of player. 1: I feel like this is a constant goal that Squad has literally been doing the best they can at, but even they can't fit a 3.5m fuel tank in a 2.5m service container any better than I can actually play KSP on my 32 bit PC anymore. So this feels like you're pressing the "Do it better" button kind of feverishly. 2: Trying to fit a 5m fuel tank in a 1m service container. "Do it better" 3: I'd suggest (and I have) that tourism also include surface visits with either X amount of kilometers traveled away from a destinated landing zone with the tourist kerbal, or checkpoints like what we already have for rover missions. The former may work better, but I'd say it has to have some restrictions like the rover having wheels being mandatory (duh) and that it can't go X meters above the surface or it'll count as flying above the surface to keep legit jumps like 3:56 to recreational gains only. I also suggested dynamic missions that would check for a planet side base, one rover, and a satellite above the celestial body to give players "pickup" missions, sending kerbals on rover trips to pick up detected samples of interest and bring it back via rover under the premise that the sample in question will be damaged if too much lateral force is applied to it, meaning a rover trek at slower than flight speeds would be necessary to safeguard the valuable research sample. 4: Fullheartedly agree, underwater research kinda plays a part in space research in real life anyways, doesn't it? Would be great for career missions aiming to test a part's endurance to being under pressure for canon reasons. 5: I could live with or without this myself, and there's a mod for this too, but some surface attachment switch in the vanilla game would be handy. 6: *upvotes* 7: I do agree about randomly found objects with rewards for finding them outside of science, but parts being re-balanced seems a little silly from a game designed to make magic happen within a NASA approved amount of reasoning. That being said, making these randomly placed objects useful could include them being an ultra rare material that applies to a further reached endgame, or to be refined to specifically power something to resolve a coming situation that the spacestation was founded on. (Anyone remember the asteroid research DLC?) These random spawning bits of magic could be the primary resource to power a potential galactic level jump drive for number 8. 8: Agreed, but it doesn't feel like much of an endgame outside of bragging rights. 9: Giving orbital bases a point would be nice, possibly something to do with endgame things, say certain found resources can only be refined in zero gravity perhaps, as well as possibly providing some docking port variant that acts as a permanent connection point (Without putting two docking ports inside of each other). I do agree with orbital vehicle construction, but I've always questioned the "near future" feel being pushed into some ridiculous limits with this. (See #7 about NASA approved levels of reasoning) Combining the permanent docking port concept with orbital construction with a part size limit could certainly make orbital construction interesting, say you have to bring up larger constructions that require a certain level of finesse that only non-spacebound kerbal engineers could construct, and then build up a series of other components to literally weld onto it in space. Gives you a reason to hoard all the fuel in orbit too, since it'd make hauling those larger kerbin-made parts a bit easier and more self rewarding. 10: I do agree with this, with some level of balancing with what the game has. That's my two... and two... and two more cents on this. I do agree with you on a lot of it, and I enjoyed watching some of your creations in the video. Keep up the creating and kerbal-nauting, and hopefully you can enjoy some 1.2 for me, since I probably won't be playing it for a while.

kerbal end game should be interstellar event like, a black hole apper close to jool , you go there explore and find that is a portal to another system with a new planet inhabitable. them with the new rocket parts you can build a giant space ship to send a kerbal population to this new planet.

A simple thing that would mean I don't need to aerobrake my spaceplanes half a dozen times before landing or worry about them exploding during the speed-run into orbit: the ability to add a heat-shield layer to certain parts. Simply implement a system where in the VAB or SPH, select a part, have an option for "add heat shield" and the part will become heavier but also more resistant to atmospheric heating.

Even if it will be just a calculations of an abstract material point, it would be cool

I second the notion for stockifying OPM. I think that bridges the gap between people who want KSP to be harder and those who don't by providing new, more challenging destinations without hiking the initial difficulty even more. Also the OPM planets are fantastically thought out and implemented. Its a very enjoyable variety.

I'd really like to be able to build space centers on other planets/moons, so that rockets could be built and launched from them. This would make inhabiting other worlds worthwhile. Also challenging, because you would need X amount of kerbals and X amount of resources on said planet to build space centers. They could be at fixed locations, or maybe, just maybe you could choose the location yourself. It would even make rss a lot easier/fun. #thinkaboutit

I agree so much with you :) KSP would really benefit from these features, especially the space station parts and the real solar system, but also the ability to build (very limited) while in space (repair stuff, move stuff, etc.). There should also be an optional hunger / thirst system available for more experienced players, including managing limited cargo space, planning refueling as well as replenishing trips, grow food, etc.

I have an idea on how to make rovers a thing worth doing. Satellites can have a new scan setting to find underground anomalies, but the scans are inaccurate, in say a 5-10 km area, so you need a rover with new equipment to scan the ground and then to take a sample, which is then processed by a mobile science lab for both science, and (if you made a groundbreaking achievement such as finding water on duna) money and reputation.

For planetary surfaces I think a really easy addition is simply adding more of a narrative to science. Hinting at planet formation and possibilities of life. imagine searching duna or layth with a rover for hours and being able to capture and bring home an alien creature for mega science and to maybe use as a pet astronaut

I had various ideas on how to improve kerbal spaceprogram. First of all, maybe more overhauled science? I had an idea where instead of a tech tree, there is a parts lab, where you would lets say research a medium size - efficient liquid fuel engine, and then end up with the Terrier. Then, you can upgrade your engines for minor decrease/increase in weight, power, or fuel efficiency. Another feature could be an upgrade tree for kerbals. Maybe you could upgrade the eva suits of kerbals ; start off with ability to go into space, then add surface sample ability? Or add a mini jetpack that gives only 50 m/s delta V? Speaking of Kerbals, it would be great if there was a kerbal crew skill system. You can start of with a bland kerbal, and he/she would get experience by roving around or something. Then you can give the Kerbal specialization, as a Scientist. Then when you get more experience, you can specialize furthermore as a Field Scientist, or a Lab Reasercher. I also like the idea of better space stations, with part creators.

There are three advanced engine techs that KSP hasn't put a lot into: NERVA, Orion, and Daedalus. We do have the LV-N but it is more of a mid-game and low-yield prototype of a technology which has much higher untapped potential. NERVA achieved ~1000kN thrust with a TWR of around 3 to 4 and specific impulse of 850s, similar to the smaller scale 1.25m LV-N with its TWR of ~2 and specific impulse of 800s. It was projected that a later NERVA design could have variable thrust vs efficiency, being able to shift between as high as a TWR of perhaps 10, to efficiency well over 1000 seconds of specific impulse. KSP could use a late game and very massive 2.5M nuclear engine with a mode selector that changes between high thrust and high efficiency. Call it the RE-N2 "Nuke" Atomic Rocket Motor by Rockomax. Project Orion never saw even a working prototype, but the principles were well understood and the design was strongly believed to be a huge success waiting to happen, before it was cancelled due to the hazards of the program and the end of the space race. An Orion-drive craft would have to be very large, and ideally would be built in orbit rather than launched from the ground. It could get a specific impulse of at least 6000, but with refinements potentially much higher. Project Daedalus was mostly theoretical, but scientists believe it should probably work. It would cause a controlled fission or fusion detonation which would release high velocity particles that would be deflected directly outside the craft as exhaust. The high exhaust velocity means that the craft's specific impulse can easily exceed 100,000 seconds, and can potentially go much higher. It is theoretically possible to get light speed or near light speed exhaust and score a specific impulse of perhaps as high as 30,000,000 seconds.

Really want your space colonization idea. For planets, as well, but stations mostly. Definitely needs to be able to build your own jazz there. Harvesting asteroids would also be amazing, I want to drag them over to my constructors and use them to build stations. We also need cities on Kerbin, and general urbanization of the world as a whole. I would also like to see terrain effects on dropped items that crash into the surface. Combined with the building destruction we've already got, it'd be rightly amazing. Just imagine, dropping an entire space station on some poor, unsuspecting city in your play for independence from your planetary ties. This totally isn't just to create Zeon, I swear.

I agree with all of the suggestions which you made, but do think that it would be quite difficult to implement some of the suggestions. I, however, would like to see chatterer made stock. It's such a simple mod, and with interest from NASA/ ESA/ SpaceX, I reckon the voices which play could be sourced from real missions too, as companies might benefit from having their launch voices played to a new audience. That's something I'd really love to see! Basically, as long as it was easily toggle-able, I can't see any negatives to having that implemented into the stock game.
