Want to SCALE your business? Go here: acquisition.com
Want to START a business? Go here: skool.com/games
If you’re new to my channel, my name is Alex Hormozi. I’m the founder and managing partner of Acquisition.com. It’s a family office, which is just a formal way of saying we invest our own money into companies. Our 10 portfolio companies bring in over $200,000,000+ per year. Our ownership stake varies between 20% and 100% of them. Given this is a YT channel, and anyone can claim anything, I’ll give you some stuff you can google to verify below.
How I got here…
21: Graduated Vanderbilt in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
31 yrs old: Started our family office Acquisition.com. We invest and scale companies using the $42M in distributions we had taken + the cash from the $46.2M exit.
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.
34 yrs old: I became co-owner of Skool.com to help the many people who want to start a business online do so.
Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).
To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.
You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.
Keep crushing. May your desires be greater than your obstacles.
Never quit,
Alex
FULL DISCLOSURE
I make content to make money - just - on a longer time horizon than most. I want to build trust with business owners so we can find the best ones and help them scale. And if they’re awesome, write them a check and go all the way as partners.

The idea of investing a significant sum of money may be both thrilling and intimidating. There is potential for considerable wealth increase with the correct strategy. How can one take advantage of compound interest and potentially grow your retirement savings to about $1M over time?

I think the safest strategy is to diversify investments. Like spreading investments across different asset classes, like bonds, real estate, and international stocks, they can reduce the impact of a market meltdown.

A lot of folks downplay the role of advlsors until being burnt by their own emotions. I remember couple summers back, after my lengthy divorce, I needed a good boost to help my business stay afloat, hence I researched for licensed advisors and came across someone of utmost qualifications. She's helped grow my reserve notwithstanding inflation, from $275k to $850

1. Sell someone $1000000 worth of a service 2. Borrow $1000000 3. Take on $10000 of debt...lol wut? 4. Buy something for less and sell it for $1000000 5. Sell a skyscraper for $1000000 6. Buy someone's startup before it launches and sell it for $1000000 7. Make $20,000 a week by selling 2 "$10,000 Things", until you have $1000000 8. Have someone give you a $1000000 business 9. Work for someone else as a salesperson until you make $1000000 10. Buy stuff for less and sell it for more somewhere else until you make $1000000 Now we all know what to do if we're broke.

Building wealth from nothing involves consistent saving, disciplined spending, and strategic investments. Begin by creating a budget to track expenses and identify areas for savings. Prioritize paying off high-interest debt and establishing an emergency fund. As you build a foundation, start investing in low-cost options like index funds, and focus on continuous learning and improving your skills for better income opportunities.

Most of these videos man. Its really not easy to get rich. Best thing for people to do is work a good paying 9-5 job or any, work as many hours as you can mentally withstand, saving as much as you can. Then take that saved capital, learn Some form of investing that is low risk. Higher risk equates to higher reward potential usually, but risk can kill.

How do you go about actually executing? Finding the deals, the buyers, pitching, the selling etc. How? How do you actually do it? I cant afford to replumb my house and if I get kicked out into it my quality of life will dramatically drop, so yea I gotta think about how to make as much money in as little time as possible

you still need to have money/assets to get banks to loan you money though. borrowing money isnt something they just let you do. some random dude without a job cant go borrow $100k to flip a house. same goes for skillsets. you generally have to pay to acquire a skillset, even if it's self taught. i know it's a YT vid so it's over simplified but this is so oversimplified so as to be virtually useless.

Exactly, I have been trying for years to get a bank to approve a loan so I can do this. People make it sound so easy but banks just don't give all of us money if we don't have a large income or assets.

“Don’t say you don’t have money and that’s why you can’t make money!” Then says, “just borrow a million dollars from the bank, duh” 😂 Got to have stellar credit and money for that to even work, or probably in his case, rich parents who can co-sign on something. So yeah, unless you’re financially stable or have rich parents, everything he said is essentially useless But you should know everything he says and does is a marketing scheme, he’s targeting the wealthier audience so he can probably sell them courses for a ridiculous price

Regarding the the first thing you said about how to learn a skill that can help people sell or how to sell your skills, I don't agree with money doesn't make more money because in most cases money does create and make more money. I'm sorry if it sounds arrogant but to learn a skill we need money... At least something valuable enough to create an income. There are ways to learn a skill without paying but we can't tell which one is actually good. But most skills taught by legit firms or organizations are paid. I get that even when someone chooses paid courses to learn or they opt for free courses to learn, ultimately it depends on the person learning. But I don't agree fully with how you said we don't need money to make more money which is in a generalized way. It's like saying "you can win a million dollars in the lottery", this statement is true no matter how non-feasible it may be because anyone can win a million dollars in the lottery but it's an over-simplification. So, leaning towards what you said in the beginning of your video I think you're heavily oversimplifying the statement too. PS: I know Alex isn't going to really read this, but I just wanted to share it so I know I'm not the only one that finds this a bit weird.

Alex, number 2 ,not clear at all. Can you explain ? you can't buy something for 10M if you don't have something of the same value. Litterally nobody on earth will give you 10M to buy something if you can't give them a guarantee to give that money back. Even with real estate, doesn't matter if it's a bank, private, loan company. If you want 10M, they will ask for 10M as a collateral. How do you provide that ?

Can you explain how to buyout several companies with projected gross income? After looking into it, it sounds like you're essentially going into debt and the seller is agreeing to wait one year for the money. Also, if a company makes 200K in revenue for example, paying the seller what they would have made in 2 years would be 400K and a lot higher than the valuation of most companies, especially a company in a position to sell. How are you estimating the buyout cost of the business? If the company isn't in a position to sell, then you would need to be involved in a local network to hear about a owner of a company doing well that doesn't want to run the business anymore. What do you do if the company starts failing due to circumstances outside of your immediate control?

Lol. Yes you can do many things. But for most things in the high dollar range there your gonna need some established trust. Nothing is overnight. Well not true there are very few overnighters. All you really need is an insatiable desire and drive. The ability to look at every step along the way no matter how small as a huge win. Because it is! Any step back is just a pause to the next step up that you know and believe will come. Then one day without even realizing it you have a nice ball rolling.

I had initially planned to retire at 62, work part-time, and save money, but the impact of high prices on various goods and services has significantly disrupted my retirement plan. I'm worried about whether those who experienced the 2008 financial crisis had it easier than I currently am. The volatility of the stock market is a concern as my income has decreased, and I fear that I won't be able to contribute as much as before, potentially jeopardising my retirement savings.

about the option thing, number 4. Yes what he said is true but what is not said is how risky it is. let's say you manage to get the house for cheaper. but if for any reason you cannot resell it fast, you are stuck with a 800 000$ contract that you need to honor or end up paying damages. and end up losing money. IT is not as easy as he makes it sound. And Also you cannot make a commission on selling something unless you have a real estate liscence, this is the law, otherwise you could get in trouble.
