Exquisite is certainly the correct adjective for this drill. I play to a 12 handicap from the Senior tees and I practiced this two-swing stability drill before every shot today. Results ... 9/13 drives in play, 10 greens in regulation including 3 of 5 par 3's, 5 out of 8 pitch/chip shots up and down with 1 putt. I'll definitely be making this a regular part of my pre-shot routine! Thanx Shawn, Sav, & Mu for your outstanding instruction videos!

@@golflessons Update on my second round using this drill -- 10/13 drives in play, 7 greens in regulation, a couple of misses, but no really bad shots -- no 'recovery' shots needed. Short game was better, so I shot a 78 (par 71) -- I've also been practicing your short game drills, including the open face chip shot. Thanx, again, Shawn!

Shawn, just thought I'd let you know that a 78yr old from Royal Birkdale GC, England got through to the last 8 of our Captain's Prize over the Easter weekend. 5 rounds in 3 days with 2 Rounds per day Match play off the very back Tees. I've been a follower for 3/4 years now and using the "cutting the grass" technique enabled me to concentrate on nothing else. It was only exhaustion that beat me and I was so happy that my technique held up under heavy pressure. As an example, I was hitting Driver to Par 3s of 190yds into 25mph wind vs 6iron from my opponents. You're the man!

This is starting to help. Especially the knifing the grip. I hit 60 degree wedge at best before this 65 yards. I’m now carrying a 60 degree 90 yards. 56 is 105 from 80. 51 is 115 from 95 Pw is 140 from 115 9 at 150 from 130 8 at 160 from 140 7 at 185 from 150 6 is now 195-200 yards. Driver is 250. Been about 250 I can’t translate it yet. I’m trying to take the concepts but the shape is all over the place still if I try to put everything into it. I did get one just right other day and carried 305. I’m carrying 250 though on slower half swings just I’m throwing something off when I go all out so I just been playing to get a slight curvature and more control. Played 18 holes yesterday 79 first time I broke 80. Through 18. Played another 9 41. This time last year through 9 I was in the 50s and through 18 I’d get so mad I’d hardly ever continue to keep my score. The jump I’ve made just watching your videos past 2 months has been biggest jump I’ve made in 3 years of playing

Taking what you teach to the course, yesterday I played 39 through 9. Couldnt get the matchups exactly right through 5, i bogeyed everything which I’m ok with. Matchups finally clicked at about the 6th hole. 325 yard par 4 slight right to left bend to the course, 5 yards off the green. Chipped uphill 2 bounces around the world at the cup and dropped. First eagle of my life on a par 4. A day to remember for sure

Man I got to say. I’ve been dumbfounded. Idk if I’ve been tuning it out or what but you do talk about the release mechanism. I never release the club, never. So I thought about it after the video I watched of yours talking about release. Went to the range today, I found what I was doing when I hit half swing 250 yard drives. I wasn’t releasing. Yes I snapped the majority of them but I wanted to just test it. Dude I could hook the ball no lie with a 45 degree open face. I tried to hit it harder with the release but I have to get my matchups down. But I was punching drives 225-250. You have completely added a new flight to my ball never thought was possible. I’m going to definitely sign up

I will definitely implement this into my swing. I occasionally hit the ball directly into the ground off the tee but I haven’t determined if it’s the result of sliding forward and hitting down on the ball or not enough forward lateral movement and topping it. Happens a couple times a round and very frustrating. Thanks for all the great videos Shawn and you’re thoughts on this problem is very much appreciated.
@golflessons
@golflessons 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Douglas! Don’t think about it as a mistake; you are not defective! What was the original focus just before you swung? A ball to hit or a blur of club to deliver through the top of the tee into the direction you want to start the ball (over your intermediate point) and into your finish?

I hit I know 3 drives yesterday that were right at 300. One about 305,290,285. Hate to say I haven’t worked out in quite awhile but trying to get back into it especially now, I can still bench 185 for 3. Not the greatest but I just wonder learning this and if I can get back to 315 for 3 how far that balls going to go. Had to stop working out, had been into power lifting and was working on competitive weight lifting and took a toll on my health because I didn’t take nutrition seriously I just wanted to be big and powerful. Went from 5’10 220 to 5’10 292. But at the time I benched 275 77 times in under 15 minutes. So I completely stopped and trying to get my health back in a year and half I have lost 62 lbs. by taking nutrition seriously. But enough about me, just have saw your body composition change over the years of videos you’ve done and it’s inspiring me to get strong and in shape but in a way that’s healthy.

One of your main swing tips helps me have very consistent contact - that is to "let the arms fall" in the downswing. It's amazing how that helps, and how the body naturally speeds the hands up through impact as a result.

Shawn can you guys make a video on just the release? A release for a draw and a release for a cut or fade? I really think knowing a release is more influential to the ball flight than anything and could possibly get over half of us playing better golf. Sorry for being long winded but I sliced the ball for as long as I played because I held up the release. I could have a 45 degree closed face a extra strong grip and was at my best hitting a fade. Also depending now on what I’m working on, depending on how hard I try to turn the ball over I can set up open 30 degrees or more open clubface and if I try to really turn that thing over I can hit a hook.
@golflessons
@golflessons 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Man! On our premium channel we have a freakin’ hit list of release videos! Watch “lead hand release”. ‘Trail hand release” “release fine tuning” snap release polish”-then “turbo charge lead hand and trail hand release” and the first 4 videos of the “2020 off season training” series pertains to that; then see “fade fine tuning” and “draw fine tuning” and the “throwing series” When you throw the club in the direction you want to start the ball and you have predicted the ball is in the way of this, then you won’t throw at the ball and WILL BE ABLE TO STAY with the direction you want to throw to; the brain has to engage the kinetic chain with pressure in the lead side, clear the hips the right amount, so that it knows where to release; You need to get in there! www.wisdomingolfpremium.com.

@@golflessons going to check it out this weekend. Don’t mean to blow up the comment section but man this has made golf fun for me. I’ve even tried teaching my fiancé some of these things. We have a hole that’s 120 to clear the water. She had a club set driver and wasn’t any good so I let her use mine until her new one comes in. And she’s been playing since last summer. She finally cleared the water. You’d think she hit the lottery. Hit one that rolled 5 yards from the green on a 140 par 3. Before she couldn’t even get the ball in the air. She’s on board too so just waiting to have a day off with her to get locked in.

Hi Shawn! I seem to be struggling with shots off the heel of the club. Mostly with my irons, but occasionally even my driver shots all seem to be near the heel. I'm sure it's a combination of things (weight getting too much towards my toes, distance from ball at address, trying to shake old baseball instincts of the sweet spot being in-line with the shaft, who knows). My problem is that nothing I do is improving my head speed. I'm stuck in the mid 70's for 7-iron unless I swing so violently that I have no control, then I can get mid 80's. Hey Shawn. I’ve been trying out the swing thought/drill that you’ve had on your channel where you basically close the face at address to I think, force yourself, to hit down on it to compress the ball better. I had been doing this for a couple weeks and I have been striking the ball better but, my spin loft has gotten crazy high. Out of curiosity I opened the face drastically, like wide open, and this forced me to to turn and get a lot of lag and I fixed my spin loft. Have you tried a drill of this sort before or does this make sense to you?

I always looked at people swing and kind of saw people at the course that slice the ball always stumble into the ball. I am a ball looker hate to admit, but I’ve found hitting the inside back quadrant works for me. I know you’re more about the intermediate point. But depending on shot shape are you thinking about what part of the ball you want to strike?

Think of the ball as a PRECISE INTERSECTION on the way to the direction you want to start the ball. On our premium channel, we have the “blur of Club” and the “arc blur unstoppable momentum series” which show you the way VERY CLEARLY on how to collect the ball from where it lies to releasing it into the flight plan.
