I have to say on how to hit any club and any shot shape. Having done some personal one on ones with Shawn I’ve never hit the ball cleaner in my life than during and ever since my first (3) day lesson followed by a few group meets the following 3-5 yrs. When your 7I goes from a 165 club to a 190 club and stays that way consistently since that first lesson. there is nothing more satisfying to me when playing other than feeling like I’m cutting into butter when striking the irons. Now I just need to convince him that NC is a great state and he should get back down here for a couple days. Need his boy to keep riding BMX and compete down here again.

Shawn, I just want to really thank you. This is just the latest video that has saved my golf game and swing. I struggled really bad under plane, chasing lag, changing grip to neutral, and basically doing all the things that didn’t get me to a good golfer. I found your teachings through Golf WRX and the throw the club feel REALLY clicked for me. Now I just feel heave it back, heave it through and get out of the way when I golf. That feel with your grip explanations got me back swinging so free and the ball is jumping off my club at my task. Thank you so much. You and the team are absolutely the best.

A bit late to the party with the strong grip, 20 handicap atm, been struggling with my driver slicing and long irons with contact. Searching grip videos and stumbled across your video and the concept makes so much sense. Took it to the range tonight and wow didn't slice, my drives were consistent distance 230-240 carry, had good control could hit dead straight or draw it in with a slight rotation of body. My long irons are very poor but with the strong grip the compressed shots i was able to achieve and distance was unbelievable. Early days for me but if i can take this to the course it will change my game. Thank you for the clear explanation. Keep up the good work. James from UK.👍🏻

Great video Shawn. At age 77 I can still play a decent game most of the time, but today I was hitting big push-fade blocks with the driver. I came home and found this video, and sure enough, my grip wasn’t nearly strong enough at setup. The grip is something I have to constantly monitor or it will gradually weaken. I like your method of starting the setup with a neutral grip and a very closed club face. I forgot to do that today, but it won’t happen again…at least for awhile. Thanks for the reminder! 👍
@golflessons
@golflessons Жыл бұрын
If the ball hooks, ask first what your focus was before you weaken it! If your focus was to hit the ball, then you will release early and close the face at the ball causing the hook; if you send the tip of the tee in the direction you want to start the ball with ease and velocity with peak speed well past the ball, then you get the right observation for how to tweak the face.

The shaft lean at address does not mean anything; our AOA’s are at +10 and launch angles are between 17 and 20 degrees…Mu could use a 2.5 degree driver like most are using now but they don’t make those in Leftie yet! 😝😝

@@golfwisdom-francais9726 Love it! So Forward Shaft Lean at address is totally fine? Great, because it felt very weird to try and setup with the club way ahead of my hands and handle. I guess the fix would be to just tee the ball higher, tilt back and swing up. I’m really good with forward shaft lean on irons… but was fighting the lean at address with driver. Great content and so practical. Where are you looking at address? Are you looking at the back of the ball are you looking at the ground before the ball? I feel like I am more consistent with my irons and I have a better feel at address. When setting up the driver I am now setting the club in the center not next to the ball. When using the driver, when I tilt should I be looking at the back of the ball or trying to see the tee for the "intersect point."

Shawn this is some great stuff. Do you have any videos though to do on rolling your wrists too much on backswing and pronating everything? I have always been a strong grip player and my swing is so pronated on the back swing that I also come back down inside. So I am basically inside to inside and the only counter act this is I have my face closed at address so I can open my clubface way open which basically puts it back to square because of my closed address position. Interesting way to play as I can still shoot 70-72 this way. I may not even get rid of the opening of the club face anyway because its still adjusted for a square impact position.

I played with a lovely kid the other day, Sid. He’s off +2 and bombs everything. We have a hole with a ridge that’s hard to get over for most, downhill from there to a tough slick green. Top of the ridge is about 175y out. So Sid smashes it over the ridge and has about 100 yards in. I’m having some trouble with the driver atm, but just this week flipped my standard cut to a draw to try and balance things out again. I’ve been doing exactly what you’re saying here this week, as I’m familiar with WiG and know what I need to do. So I head out there, and it’s not feeling comfortable but I’m sticking with it… been here before. I reach the 15th… ridge in the distance. Now, it’s OB left and absolutely no shot if right. It’s just super intimidating this tee shot. I tell myself to slow everything down and stay on task… just be so, so committed. Absolutely smooshed the ball into a marshmallow, perfect towering draw, sails over the ridge, lands on the downslope and I had about 115 yards in. And there was no one there. Not a soul in sight. 😂 Absolute magic, I love WiG 🎉

@golflessons

Simple: When you swing freely in the direction you want to send the ball, how is the flight? Too much right? Close the face. Too much hook left, open the face. If you don’t see the direction your club is going, see “blur of club”, “arc blur unstoppable momentum series” and the “goldie locks series” on our premium channel at www.wisdomingolfpremium.com Now, if you close it a lot and the ball is still slicing, this means that you are not getting a proper release; so you must see all the “release” video on premium, especially the “important release update” video.

Speaking of this I don’t think it’s ever touched on. Watching you I’ve went to a norm of high 70s golf. Even shot a 73 closest to even ever. I take it a little bit further. I was getting quite a bit of pushes. But I firmly believe matchups are different for most of us. I took the slow swing and stop at impact and I visually look down at the club it was open. I twisted the club at that point until it was dynamically square ever so slightly open for a draw and ever so slightly closed for a fade. I know it sounds ass backwards. But my club is almost at a 45 degree angle at address. I think most of us do not realize what you’re teaching until we come across it. We think setup straight face balls going that way. It’s going where the face is pointed at impact not at address.

For us mere mortals, do you think it is practical to apply the strong grip / draw just to the driver swing (i.e. for distance) but have a more neutral swing for irons (i.e. for accuracy). I mean I know that the ball is not my target, but the swing isn't consistent enough. Should one just practice the swing for a bit without a ball? Frustrated that I am not consistent.

You need a task ASAP!! See our premium channel at www.wisdomingolfpremium.com (it’s just $9.95 a month and stay as long as you like) and see the “top 3 tasks” and “task update” and “task 2.0” series; then you want to see “throwing the club” and “the throwing series” and then the “predict contact”, the “blur of club”and the “goldie locks series” and finally, consistency will come with “target confirmation series” and “stick the finish despite the ball series”

If you feel that your swing is low effort and you are releasing through the ball, then go ahead and open the club face!

Shawn what brand of horse steroids are they using? Great stuff as always, amazing how important that upward angle of attack is. Love to see you and Mu compete - Mu has to use old school real wood driver.

The guy would still get me after he starts hitting it in the screws! 😝😝 But, we started showing them both how to max out their righty swings in the next few videos and Savy is already over 150 yards with the 7 iron! 😝 and Mu is right there at 175 7 iron…I will be competing with my left hand against their right hand when they get to a certain stage! 😎

@@golflessons Savy and Mu’s righty swings will be an interesting progression to watch. The driver power in their current lefty swings are crazy good! Where is all their power coming from? Your power is nuts too. Is your swing power the same depending on if you swing lefty or righty? Would love to see a video on where this power is coming from, along with side by side comparison, lefty to righty swings🙂 Additionally, in regards to recent rule changes of being able to carry 18 clubs. Would be interested to know if you would encourage carrying lefty clubs for the right handed golfer with those 4 additional clubs, and then subsequently suggestions on how to quickly learn to swing the opposite way🙃

@@golflessons Thanks!!! Looking forward to the content!! I always use your perpetual motion drill with my neutral grip and level shoulder alignment. I am trying to convert over to the strong grip, hands forward, low trailing shoulder as you emphasize. The drill is a bit of an odd feeling though but hoping repetition helps with that trail shoulder so low. Also been starting to swing left handed as well to take advantage of those additional clubs. Maybe lefty GW, 7I, Hybrid and Driver for those added clubs🤔😵‍💫
