Even bigger key is that his arrow was 575gr. FOC is everything with penetration, but the broadheads help a ton as well. My setup this year has my arrows weighing in at 605gr and I'm not even scared of hitting shoulder with my single bevels.

SO, another 1/2 inch to the left & this story would have a completely different ending, DISGRACEFUL to think that shot is effective. Just pure luck. Also, encouraging such unethical archery behaviors w/ many novice hunters watching these videos just shows the arrogance & stupidity of these "HOLLYWOOD" hunters. Luckily, it won't be long this stuff will be obsolete due to KZbin eliminating hunting content altogether.

GREAT setup for quartering to shots. high foc is the only way to go with quartering to shots. Single bevel broadheads are the only way to go with quartering to shots. Im repeating myself because I want to try and educate people just like you guys do. If you don't have high foc and sharpened single bevel broadheads, THEN PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT THOSE SHOTS. Great video you guys. Ive been a fan for a long time. Sorry to go off but I hear so many stories of people bouncing arrows off shoulders and not getting clean lethal hits. Those deer hunt get injured and suffer and alot ofnpeople dont think about that. Great buck and crazy hunt. 😜

Scapular spine is what you were looking for. After using a mechanical for first time in decades a few years back because they were given to me I got an amazing trail on a nice 8 pt I shot double lung. Never seen anything like it.. unfortunately I hunted the next morning on ground. Same exact scenario. I wasn’t thinking and forgot I had a mechanical.. didn’t even penetrate shoulder on the biggest buck I’ve ever tried to shoot at. Midwest stud… easily 250# 🤢🤦🏻‍♂️. Will never ever shoot mechs again. My fault for taking the shot but not gonna happen again.

Great shot! Definitely a killer with the right arrow and broadhead setup. One thing is for sure though, you wouldn't have killed that buck with a mechanical broadhead. It blows my mind that folks still shoot mechanicals after seeing 98% of the popular "TV kills" have no pass thru shots and inadequate penetration. I guess the mechanical companies have good marketing departments because they sure don't work for what it takes to kill deer. Cutting diameter is NOT #1 on what it takes to kill, but penetration is. Thank you for showing that!

Congrats. Nice buck. It’s funny when your are in the driveway you are trying to be so quiet. Those deer are used to that. It doesn’t phase them. I hunted with a friend out of Omaha and we parked in front of the guys barn he had permission to hunt and the radio was playing. We literally walked 10yds from the barn and sat. He killed a nice buck that night. Carry a battery operated weed eater with. You could probably damn near walk up on them. Good luck for the rest of the season.

Congrats Missed how far that shot was but it seemed close based on sound and the fact it was a near complete pass through (arrow exits completely). He jumped the string a bit and the arrow went above the shoulder blade. You got a little lucky on a hard quartering to shot…been there…with other eyes on you he could have spun and been gone. Cool G2s and palmation.
