aslong as you rince your 2080 thoroughly with water after every use i think it should stand the test of time. i keep a dipping bucket of water next to my open case pc just to dip it every 30 minutes or so then plug it back in

@@jacoblyalls4026 Yes this is absolutely a joke, Just a general rule of thumb, unless an electronic is listed as water PROOF, then never put it near water. even "Water Resistant" electronics are a gimmick and should never be deliberately put in water, i've seen alot of products claim they are resistant to water, only for them to fail and break on contact with a slight splash or very shallow dip. I see how you could be confused by my joke though because Some computers are Water cooled, Both the GPU and CPU can utilize water cooling. But the water never comes into contact with the electronics. where the stupid remark i made about dipping it into water directly would more than likely break it. unless you manage to completely dry it off before plugging it back in.

I've gotta hand it to Linus........ his narrating skills are off the charts. Folks don't realize this, but, if Linus were to narrate in his normal speech pattern, a lot of what he's saying would go in one ear, and out the other. However, he's developed some whacky way of narrating that ensures even the most illiterate comprehend what he's saying, and remember it.

It was nice to see all these old cards. Some were pretty familiar. I had a 560TI, a 690, a 780TI, a 980TI and then I switched to AMD. My I bought the 690 with the launch of BF4 I believe and I was so disappointed in all the Micro Stuttering, that I bought a EVG 780TI Kingpin a couple of weeks later. The 980TI was still used up until the end of Nov this year. My first AMD Card in a long, long time. I had almost 2 decades ago a X700, a X800GTO² and a X1600XT before switching to a 8800GT.

Great vid, but you can tell that in certain tests the later GPUs like the GTX 1080 and 1080ti were being heavily CPU limited by the stock clocked 5960X, as evidenced by the lack of seperation between the 1080 and 1080ti in DX9 Heaven Benchmark, Metro: Last Light Redux, Bioshock Infinite, and Half Life 2. In reality the 1080ti should be at least 27-30% faster on average in all tests (vs the 1080) if not constrained by the CPU's single threaded performance and the API used, but I understand it had to be standardized to the lowest supported API for the sake of the older cards. An OC to 4.5+ GHz on the 5960X could have helped to increase the lead of the 1080ti, it should easily break over 1000 FPS in HL2 with 1080p Maximum settings.

Titans are kind of their own weird entity. I think they just wanted to compare the main GPU (or two) from each generation. Otherwise if you included them, then why not the 970 and 1050Ti and so on and the video ends up being an hour long.

Titans are the big "F*** u" to your face cards. Nvidia purposely gimp the new gen flagship cards with mid-tier GPU chips. I.E as seen on Linus's explanation on the GTX 680(GK104) at 8:03 . They use the flagship GPU chips(Gx100s or the 102) on the Titan, as "Nvidia felt we don't need such a big jump on a new gen so we will milk you becos we can!"

I think the original titan was good value. the fastest single card solution at the time was a 680 which is getting on the slow side of todays cards. the titan was the same speed as a 780 but with 6gb. so if you got the titan when it came out you'd still have a card that could play modern titles 'ok'. this gives it has a longer life span before it needs to be upgraded. at least thats how I view good value

Best bang for the buck card in history I'm. It did as much as the GTX for about less than half the price. I still have my evga 8800GT. It has a lifetime warranty and if I'm ever in need of something I bust it out. I've RMAd it twice the most recent time about two years ago and they STILL HONOR THE WARRANTY. Which is why I always go evga if I get a Nvidia card. Can't top that customer service. RMAing a 10 year old card still no issues.

The card I originally paid for didn;t work inside the dell and he gave me the upgrade to an 8800 gts for nothing, he had to cut a bit off the gpu to make it fit as well. COD 4 was all the rage back then on pc as well.

Also we can forget the honourable mentions, like the low and mid tier sections. Mostly the GT 710, being a good and light low power, and the GT 730 GK208B revision being light and low power, but with a bit of a boost in performance. Including the GTX 950 low power, the Percy mid tier GPU not needing any power connectors. And we can’t forget the well rounded revisions of those gpus, the GT 1030 doing the same but with a bit more flexibility and a bit more power, and the GTX 1050ti bringing a substantial boost to gaming mostly with more VRAM.

My very first GPU was a Kepler OG Titan - even though my Sager laptop I sold to fund that had dual 680m's (I learned the hard way 680 and 680m are not equal)

You should do a video where you compare the temperatures and noise of regular case fans and and then replace them with leaf blowers and vacuums for the exhaust and intake.

I have a PNY GeForce GTX 280 Performance Edition. Not in my current machine (Because I use a laptop) but I am currently trying to get a DVI to VGA input because no display in my house uses DVI so I am trying to get a converter to use on my monitor with VGA. Plus I search up (PNY GTX 280 Performance Edition in amazon shopping and get no result. is it a rare video card?
