If we are not going to develop as a stage 2 civilization there is no chance that earth is going to have life upto far future(4 billion) earth might even be swallowed by the sun. We may be on wrong path but we are possibly only hope for far future as earth might never evolve intelligent life form again. And with earth dead we could lose significant amount of life in the universe.

Nah, this vision of humans it's just cliché and nonsense. "Hur dur, we are destroying the world." The nature it's even more powerful than us, our situation now it's just a necessary fase to get in something better, and if the planet was something alive, we and our actions represent nothing to him.

+edwin6146 are you kidding me? god is a construct made by the human themselves, because they knew apeshit about the universe back than... We killed ''god" at the point when WE began to PROVE the laws of physics and just how things came into existence by actual facts that we discoverd and wrote down to our knowledge. Don't you get it? WE are god himself we created the universe by discovering these laws and observing the events that occour in it. We filled up the blank space in our head. if we broke it down to the core, the brain is a instrument that can observe and interpret the universe. so my conclusan is that by gaining knowledge, we shape the universe for us to interpret we live in.

Why is Earth the only planet in the so called solar system with life. Humans are the most special creatures in the whole universe. The way we think, our ability to create, is not just natural selection. It's more than that. We have purpose on this so called planet. We are not just accidents that formed from an explosion that happen 14.7 billion years ago.

Highly doubt that we will ever leave this planet and colonize another... None of the planets or moons are habitable in our solar system, and attempting to terraform is still well beyond our capabilities. Travel to a exoplanet as well, as with current technology it would take hundreds of thousands of years just to leave the solar system... At the rate that humans are actually destroying the planet, we won't be here long enough to even try and make those advancements required...

@MrLourie
@MrLourie 8 жыл бұрын
+It's Okay To Be Smart So, the video begins with the assumption that humankind will not be around, or exist, "100,000,000 Years From Now". We, as the human species, have existed, so far, for just 200,000 years. Yet, the dinosaurs were "intelligent" enough to survive at least 100,000,000 years. Any alien geologist coming upon a peculiar brown-grey planet will not need to probe further than just below the clouds of pollutants. And, there, they will discover the thin sheet of the Anthropocene, and its bed of evidence, exposing a "big brained" but "small minded" people. A culture robbed of its potential by its own hand, and blinded in a flash by the shadows of hostility. "It's Okay To Be Smart", but it's better to be wise. Wisdom affords you the knowledge to best employ your intellect.

+Cl Lyman I doubt that, since there is many documents, photographs, and videos about the Earth, our history, etc. Unless they didn't make a new record and forgot to bring all the records about Earth and us, we will remember Earth forever. But I like the idea. It will be exactly like returning to your long-forgotten home.

+Derek Park It's hard to say; We're talking about 100,000,000 years from now.It is extremely possible that due to the evolutionary process of "radiation" there may be several dozen species of "Man". This most certainly will affect how they think and interpret the past. See Brian Aldiss' BIG ANCESTORS. Entropy also plays a part. Read the latter FOUNDATION stories, where earth is practically forgotten (factor into that ROBOTS OF DAWN). Read also DRAGON RIDERS OF PERN and see how, over time, things get lost or reinterpreted. Also what happens to records if a civilization collapses and they have to deal with more pressing matters. Or what if single lifetime interstellar travel is not achieved for 100,000 years and the 300 or so interstellar colonies were planted by multi-generational ships then 300,000 years a useful FTL breakthrough was made? Read Brian Aldiss STARSHIP (UK; NON-STOP) 1958 to see how things get lost. Rome fell only about 1550 years ago and we just recovered their method of making concrete that was stronger than anything we have made until we did. Dark and Middle Ages rope was far inferior to what the Romans used and I don't know if that was ever recovered or we just developed something else using synthetic fibers

+The Angry General History has shown that to be incorrect. Cars were once the prerogative of the rich. Computers were once the prerogative of the rich. Televisions were once the prerogative of the rich. Air travel, then jet travel was once the prerogative of the rich 50 years ago a big term was "jet set", heard that any time since 1968? All that happens is that they rich simply to the early wrok in the creation of a market. then someone gets the urge to expand the market, thatn's how Danelectro was founded in 1954 to bring down the price of a decent quality electric guitar to a generally affordable one

+Cl Lyman It's more likely only some portions of history may be "lost" beneath the rest of history (as in plenty of people know about Rome, Greece, Egypt, Mesopotamia, & China, but don't know specifics of their histories other than they had empires, how they dressed, & the occasional name of a leader). If anything it's far more likely that history will be preserved yet distorted & embellished as some caches of information are lost, and histories may get mingled with other accounts (even literature) in confusion, thus getting becoming a mythology with differing versions & viewpoints looking back at a haze. By then different planets may have been terraformed to closely resemble Earth's biome, & there could even be dispute as to which "Earth" was the original.

The "pave the whole Earth" thing was scary. I mean, you didn't say how thick the pavement would be but still, given how much concrete contributes to our greenhouse gas emissions, I'm afraid concrete will cement our future. ... WHAT?! If we go, we might as well go with a bad pun on our lips!

+Penny Lane 1 kg of concrete per square meter. Density of concrete is about 2400 kg per cubic meter. So how high would a 1 kg block of concrete be, with two sides with the length of 1 meter? If my calculations are correct, we are talking about 0,417 mm thick layer. That is pretty weak. A 0,417 mm deep layer of concrete spread on one square meter would be 1 kg in weight. You can surely imagine one kilogram of regular flour and how you try to spread it even on the area of 1 square meter in your kitchen. If flour has a density of about 500 kg per cubic meter (about 4.8 times less than concrete), you should get a "block" with two sides 1000 mm long and a height of about 2 mm, which sounds reasonable if I imagine it now. If I made the video, I would omit the "pave the whole surface of earth" claim.

Erik Žiak Wow, dude, now you're just stalking me ;) No, I'm kidding. Nice calculation. Yeah, it really seems like that the whole "pave the planet" thing is a stretch .... ha! I'll keep doing this till Armageddon. Try and stop me! ;)

+Penny Lane I am not a stalker, too lazy for that shit. I wanted to chat a bit about your take on AI, machine learning and stuff like this if you are interested. What was your thesis topic? Also, I am goint to bed now, have been doing research all evening long, have 5 thick books on my desk and one smaller. Trying to figure out historic stuff. Gives me headaches, as I am also drawing stuff according to my findings. Good night.
