$100 Billion For War: Russian Economy On the Verge of Collapse

Russia will spend 100bn dollars on the war against Ukraine in 2023. This was reported by the Financial Times with reference to an interview with the chief sanctions economist at the US Treasury Department. Due to international restrictions on the aggressor country, the federation is lagging far behind other oil and gas exporters. And this is a major revenue item for the Russian budget. The Kremlin is putting the Russian economy on a war footing. What future awaits for the aggressor country’s economy and why Putin's only hope is other totalitarian states?

Roughly $1bn per day since the war started is what I'm reading; that puts the price tag for Putin's war in the $600-700bn range; about 50% of Russia's GDP. The wealth fund will run dry before Summer (Russia will never get the $300bn worth of frozen assets in the West) which is when I predict the Russian economy will start to unravel for real.

The Persian Road through Iran has become the major trade route from Russia to Indian Ocean bypassing Suez canal and European trade routes. Russia/China share borders for trade routes along with Pacific Ocean trade routes. So what exactly did sanctions do to hurt Russia? Seems they are getting along fine without US & Europe.

India pays for its oil in rupees rather than rubles and has negotiated stiff discounts. In both cases Russia smiles and does as its Eastern masters desire.

Continued oil sales (China and India) and sanctions breaking ( all too frequently by Western businesses) are not helping the effort to handicap Russia. Rubble is kept "stable" by Russian goverment controls that have no relation to real market value. Russian exports are heavily discounted while Russia moves to become Chinese vassal totally dependant on them.
