The most crazy thing is that he was playing VR/RTS/FPS during battle. He could tap into anything with a machine spirit and control it, time covering fire from a gunship while speaking into individual marines comms to.move, time artillery strikes between willing his bots, servitors and marines to move in open area so enemies were suppressed. Timing things within split seconds. He knew exactly how many melta/cannon shots it would take to blast through a wall or gate and tanks full speed heading for the breach that will open right before busting through like Kool-aid Man. He could do this with everything at every second. Imperial Fisted fans want to say 'we won' no they didn't, the palace was breached enough to ensure victory had Horus not challenged the Emperor and got wrecked. Had the ultramarines finally not arrived in system, he still could have won with damguinius and emperor dead. But he picked up and bounced so he wouldn't take and L. Which pissed off the rest of the traitors.because now they were stuck with no cover and logitistics. He also made it a side mission to level the Imperial Fisted's Terran fortress before baiting the pursuit of the Fisted to a Mega size Rust Trap House. Guilliman had to save the Fists. Petty Muprhy Peturabo is interesting. He's able to build nearly anything, second only Vulkan. While Vulkan can pretty much figure out any technology as to how it works and to build it to that effect, pteruabo can understand nearly everything engineering wise and know how to destroy it.

They fail to mention a lot of important things. First thing first, Perturabo was given two powers by the emperor - he can always see the eye of terror from anywhere and more importnatly anything he sees he immedeately masters to the utmost limit. These two things are absolute disaster for his mental health though since he is literally unable to have any satisfaction from self betterment and is constantly haunted by the eye (which he had no idea what it was and it was freaking him out) As for the Iron Warrior and Imperial Fist rivalry - its a bit tragic. He and Dorn were basically made to do the same thing - siege stuff. But Dorn was like a rock, unchanging while Perty was more dynamic and had a lot more he wanted to achieve. However since he was never willing to speak up about his toughts unless asked, he kept being misunderstood which was making him more miserable. He hated sieging, but whenever the big E would send him, he would be super fine with it outwardly so nobody really realised that what he yearned to do was to create things - while Dorn cared a lot less about such superficial things and would get all the jobs Perty hoped for. At the end of the day, Perty is the chaddest of Traitor primarchs, the only one to be like a top tier character amongst them. Also he might not even be demon prince - there is strong implication that he actually built himself a special Dreadnaught to keep himself alive.

If you asked him, he would tell you that at a glance, he can see and understand how that thing works. He automattically knows how everything functions. This is, however, not quite true. His TRUE ability is that at a glance he can see how something will FAIL. Its weaknesses, its vulnerabilities. This is why he is so good at the art of the siege. He immediately knows the best way to dismantle everything. Perturabo wanted nothing more than to use that power to create and build, but Big Emps said no, and gave that job, the one perturabo wanted most of all, to Dorn.

One of the races no one wanted to fight was the Harud who would literally warp time the more of them existed in an area. To the point space marines would age to death with centuries pacing in mere seconds. Stars would go supernova as their ships paced systems. And Perturabo’s legions weapons and armour would rust to dust as bolters were fired upon them and blades clashed.

Fun fact: The punishment Perty used on his legion (with the lot drawing and all that) was an actual punishment in the roman empire, referred to as "decimation". It was of course rarely used, as killing a substantial amount of your own troops is rarely a good choice, but we do have multiple written accounts of it.

Something glossed over here is that Perturabo had flashes of knowledge all throughout his life, where he'd see something or think about it, and instantly all the knowledge about how to do it would flood his mind. All the Primarchs had a natural gift for learning and some ingrained knowledge, like Konrad Curze having many laws burned into his head without context for what a 'parking ticket' was or how execution via torture was considered cruel and unusual punishment for littering, but he had that information locked away in his mind. But where other Primarchs were prodigious learners or simply knew certain things and needed further knowledge to develop an understanding of them, Perturabo would have all of that knowledge just poof into his head instantly, so not only would he immediately learn how to make something like a sword, he would learn how to make a 'perfect' sword with whatever means he had available to him, and he would often know far more about the process than he should, from the chemical and atomic structure of the metal to the ideal shape and angle for an edge that could cut and maintain sharpness for as long as humanly possible. This sounds like a good thing, until you realize that this denied Perturabo the joy of discovery and the experience of practice and learning a new skill, trade, or field of study, because he skipped over all that and simply knew everything like somebody had spoiled every piece of media he got his hands on the moment he read the title. So that meant he spent his entire young life on Olympia bored out of his mind and constantly having the joys of his young life be robbed from him and the accompanying dopamine rushes being replaced by bitterness, and his only solace was in the praise and respect of others for what little accomplishments he could say were truly his own, such as killing a monster or choosing to make a specific form of subjective art based on his own preferences. And then, when he decided to scale the cliffs to enter the city of Lochos in the middle of a rainstorm, he had one flash of knowledge so intense that it completely overwrote the memories of his early life, and by the reckoning of the current Perturabo, his earliest memory is of him dangling off the side of a cliff in a thunderstorm wondering who would leave a 'child' like him in such an outrageous position. Then he was found by the soldiers of Lochis who gad been dispatched to find him and adopted by the Tyrant of Lochos, being granted all of Lochos's intellectual resources and the patronage of the Tyrant himself in exchange for swearing to serve the Tyrant and the city of Lochos itself.

In the books, there's a scene where Perturabo was actually encouraging his troops to try and figure out how best to siege the Imperial Palace. They had converted a room into essentially a holodeck, where they'd take turns trying to orchestrate the assault. They were basically playing 40k in 40k, though i guess its more 30k. The rules made it sound like they were playing Apocalypse or Epic, but regardless. Most of Perturabo's best human moments are when he's with Fulgrim, unfortunately, Fulgrim doesn't really care.

He also had the advantage of months of planning and construction while Perturabo still had to do Missions for Horus. So: Dorn had massive forces of diciplined and loyal Warriors whi were the absolute elite of the Imperium, months of preperation, the battlefield was his mastercrafted fortress and his warriors followed his orders without a question. @@Taz-ey4jl As Sevetar said to Konrad "What else did you do to elevate your people?" Perturabo and Konrad are the one and the same. Both cowards, both weaklings. They neither chose the pragmatic path. They chose the path that allowed them to indulge in their sick desires and allow them to cry victim. Konrad was a murderer who loved killing, and convinced himself being a murderous tyrant was the only way to make people civilized. But when you compare his accomplishments to that of Rogal and Roboute, it was literarily the worse path possible. And Perty had a massive victim complex, choosing the hardest way not the most pragmatic way. Throwing his man in meat grinder for no other reason but further build his victim complex. For fuck's sake when fighting the Hrud, he did not even talk to the Imperium about the development, oh because the Emperor should have magically known that he needed help and given it to him. Perturabo was the Primarch with the most potential because he was so smart. He was the offense siege specialist just because that was the needed role of his Legion. If he wanted to be the best at any of the other specialties, he would have been better than each Primarch, only lacking behind Magnus, Angron, and Horus since he lacked Psyker powers, was too smart for their tactics, and charisma was his dump stat respectively. Perturabo's only weaknesses was his stubbornness and pride. If he was just less prideful and stubborn, asking/demanding help or praise, he would have made the Horus Heresy impossible, or not even get close to succeeding as it did. He was the most distrustful but also the most loyal. He didn't trust easily but once he did, his loyalty was eternal unless someone truly broke it. He remained close with Magnus ever since they met on Terra. My favorite moment of this was when Magnus's Legion was destroyed cause of a spell (something like that, I forget what happened exactly) and he faints afterwards. But as Magnus is falling unconscious, Perturabo appears out of nowhere and grabs his brother before he could touch the ground. "I have you brother," he says to the unconscious Magnus. And when Magnus wakes up, his lieutenant tells Magnus that Perturabo caught him and did not let anyone else carry his body.
@potandpoliticswithmr.broph14205 ай бұрын
Perturabo is a beyaaaatch. He did everything for his own ego and then bitched when he wasn't treated like a Martyr for doing it to himself, when his brothers were better liked because they were more personable and he thought everyone should just recognize him as better than them at everything that mattered( in his mind) and therefore deserved recognition. He could have been pursuing his crafts as well as his warfare, the other Primarchs did. He made himself a shit bed and tried to say it was everyone else's fault he had to make it and how dare they not praise him for sleeping in it. He's amazingly talented, even among Primarchs, but he's also a victim of his own creating, no one else's. What a great fucking character, like seriously interesting in his flaws.

Waiting was not an option in the Great Crusade, because Big E knew he was on a very short time table, and to Perturabo's further credit: he made siege's as short as primarchly possible (at the expense of many, many, many of his genesons' lives).

"and yet I hold the hammer" this is actually a great double entendre because Perturabo would see it very differently from every other Primarch. The hammer, Forgebreaker, was gifted to him by Horus after the Istvaan Massacre because Perty Planned every kill zone personally. The hammer is a trophy as well as a mark of competence. Perturabo is hard work and merit distilled into a person and that hammer represents that perfectly. Every other Primarch sees a hammer, a symbol of blunt, dumb force. Fuck I love it.
