Overanalysis is not required to know that this was movie was a disaster. "Enjoy it for what it is." Sorry, I'm not sure how to do that. The Fifth Element (also by Luc Besson) was campy and flawed, but could be enjoyable for "what it is." Flawed but brilliant in its own way. Lucy is flat out a bad movie. Brilliant premise, mixed-quality dialogue, horrible writing overall, mixed-quality acting. Mediocre direction at best. These ingredients do not add up to a good movie, or even a watchably fun "popcorn SF/fantasy movie" (I assume that is what you meant to say). Sorry.
@rafaelnavarro607210 күн бұрын
@@davidhomer78 then you clearly didn't understand it because in this last scene, she's absorbing the entire knowledge of the universe down to a single cell. The entire graphic sequence was the creation of the earth / universe in reverse. ---She started in Paris, then went to New York, ---Flew back in time to the natives, ---Went back to dinosaurs, ---Met lucy the Australopithecus (the first "human"), ---Then we see earth, ---Then it shows the Collision of Theia (the giant-impact theory that hypothesizes the creation of our moon) ---After that it shows the "Pillars of Creation" located in the Eagle Nebula that have dust and gas currently in the process of forming new stars ---It shows the 1st stars ---The "Dark Ages" ---Quantum Flucuations / Inflation ---Then it shows the cells going back into the Primeval / Primordial Atom (which is the theory that the universe started with the implosion of a single particle called the Primeval Atom) ---Then it shows Lucy's eye intertwined with shots of the Primeval Atom She achieves 100% and transcends into deity status and turns into a god. She becomes one with the universe. She's omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent hence the "I am Everywhere" text he gets. It truly wasn't just a mumbled, nonsensical montage of random stuff. It was literally the creation of the universe (along with earth leading up to current time in the movie) shown in reverse chronological order. (and the sequences are in reverse as well clearly show as we see the 1st stars going back into itself and the cells forming back into one)

It appears you have no concept of the difference between reality, cinema, actor, vs. fiction, story, character. Those images on the screen do not intend to mean that Scarlett Johansson, the actress, achieved some stupendous level of real-life genius. The scene of the movie shows that the character, Lucy, did, in a fantastic way. I don't know whether Miss Johansson is a smart woman or not, but given her trade and how successful she is in it, most certainly she knows the difference between the aforementioned concepts better than the two of you. And, try to do some screenwriting any given day. You'll see it takes way more than a 3% to write a story that is grammatically correct, coherent, engaging, balanced, moving, suspenseful, entertaining, either original or faithful to its source, AND worthy of the attention of some studio readers and execs, AND as inexpensive to produce as likely to earn profits and awards. Given the comments' value, hardly.

When I first watched the movie, I liked the idea of using 100% of the brain. However, this concept stems from a limited understanding of the mind, which actually exists within time and space. By transcending these limits, you acknowledge your spiritual nature and human experience. In higher dimensions like 5D-beyond time (4D) and space (3D)-you could replicate everything Lucy does in the movie. However, the human brain, constrained by time and space, cannot achieve this. The movie intriguingly tries to interpret spiritual phenomena within the confines of the physical world. The limit of humanity is trying to explain everything with the brain and logic - even miracles. This is not how the astral realm works.

@JayDeeMC you’ve certainly proved some beings on YT do only use 10% of their brains if you read their comments. Since areas of our brains are specialized, we do use 100% of our brains both day and night. Someone in the comments was correct in saying not all neurons are 100% active. Neurons are living cells so though they may only be operating with a low activity level, but they are still active. The 10% myth has been debunked for decades. There aren’t special abilities to be activated with a bolt of lightning or a fall into toxic soup. If a part of the brain is damaged adjacent neurons will take up the task but possibly differently because neighboring neurons are reacting to different stimuli. When you lose your sight, your other senses don’t go into overdrive. Without the distraction of sight, you are able to focus on a different sense. Also our brain cells fill in gaps. To put it simply, You think you’re seeing in 4K but you’re really seeing in 720p, your brain just fills in extra pixels. It’s why magic eye paintings work.

Not a bad show in the middle but full of CGI crap at the end and a totally unbelievable opening scene.
