This is japan, they respect the food and leaving behind bits of anything makes it disrespectful. If you watch a lot of Japanese competitive eaters, they seriously clean their plates clean. Every time they eat anything, they eat it clean including ribs and chicken wings.

Living in Japan I’ve noticed that most places serve medium rare steak unless the place actually asks you how you’d like your steak done. I usually have to cut the steak into strips and let it cook for a bit.

That was the most amazing effort I have seen you do and this was your second challenge of the day? Is that even possible. I know how daunting this challenge is because I used to live five minutes away from there, wanted to try it but did not have the guts, knowing I would have to pay the 10,000 yen cost because no way could I finish that. That restaurant has been there for over 20 yrs and the challenge also. Mike Tyson has been there. Very few people have ever completed it successfully. Hi Raina, Well done, the steak part of the challenge didn't look to hard but add in all that rice and suddenly it's a massive one. But you did it with time to spare, add into that the curry challenge earlier and it shows what a true champion you really are. P.s you really should train yourself to eat med rare steak, it stops from being dry and chewy

Though exactly as you did. When the waiter pointed to the corn tidbits, (like 2 or 3 kernels more would have stopped you) I was a bit peeved. Also that amount of rice! Should have been called the rice and steak challenge. I could handle that amount of meat but never could have eaten one plate of rice. My goodness, that was a highly unfair and "stacked" challenge. You did good though. And 2 challenges in one day? That's our Raina!!!

I did the challenge also 3 years ago and the annoying thing was they wouldn't give an extra plate also I had the same issue with the corn even with one piece which was stuck on the hot plate.
