Many words in this video are often accompanied by the word “the”. In Italian, the singular form of the definite article "the" varies based on the gender and the first letter of the noun it precedes. For masculine nouns: "Il" is used before singular nouns beginning with a consonant (except z, ps, gn, x, and s+consonant). For example, "Il Giorno" (The Day), "Il Mondo" (The World). They’re really not that similar just because they are all rooted in Latin. You missed Romanian as the fifth Romance language. Spanish and typically taught Italian are similar, but even Sicilian dialect is completely different from northern Italian and Portuguese isn’t really that similar to Spanish and French sounds wildly different from Spanish, yet similar to Portuguese.
