Albeit 2 years later, I just got into Satisfactory and besides my massive 1-floor "creates every starter item inefficiently" factory, this was my first attempt at building a real purposeful one. Without mods (and thus no flying) it did have a few teething issues in terms of building vertically - but getting it completed with a few minor changes (overflow system for AWESOME Sink and using the "new sandwich floor" from your more recent videos) felt so satisfying!

Excellent build! Very clean and well planned out. Also an interesting approach in terms of planning. I tend to build flat with subfloor belt-work, and use floors to either double up the production line, or just do a whole new line (the only times I run one full line across multiple floors is when I run out of space). But here you kinda went vertical from the get go :) Oh, and really high quality video production as well!

very nice build and well presented. One small comment i would like to make and it is this, not all people who play Factorio or Satisfactory are geniuses in design as the game goes on, i read somewhere in Factorio the number of people who send a rocket up is in single figures. My point is your tutorial has helped so much with building techniques as i was afraid to go vertically, Struggled a little with the first build (first tier iron) and breezed through the copper tier 1. Love your videos. I built the coal generator plant (6 extractors, 16 generators) and loved doing it. I learned so much because you show us what, but leave the "how?" to us -- so there was a lot of trial and error to discovering how you created the spacings. You said in another video you would like to see our builds -- I have some photos. How do I connect on Instragram? (I ended up with only 14 generators because my space was a bit smaller than I imagined).

I love the clean look and efficiency. The floating floors thing bothers me a bit (but what about PHYSICS!), but it's fairly trivial to add in some supports. But one thing I'd like to see, is how to set up overflow, so your containers fill up first as buffers, then overflow to an Awesome SINK. How much extra space, if any, would that take? Or can it be done in the same footprint? I know in early stages, we only have a dumb splitter, later a smart splitter, but only at the programmable splitter can we have a specific overflow function. So the compromise ia to just use a dumb splitter at first and fill buffer half as fast, or shut off awesome sink for a bit while we go build another factory, by which time maybe one container will be full.

Miner/smelter first floor, 5 walls up start the second floor have a lift to take things from the smelter to the 2nd floor, and have your constructor there. It's tall, applies to impure nodes easily, and it makes using a giant sky conveyer bus ezpz.

Why include the smelters in the build? I feel like it's much cleaner and easier to smelt at miner and just belt in the volume you want wherever you decide to place your building. I think it might be better to focus on transfer rate rather than miner level. That makes it more universal. A build based on a rate of 120/m for example can be acheived with various levels of miners on different resource nodes
