Chris thank you for all the awesome paint knowledge. About 2-3 years ago, I needed to know how a professional painter uses and maintains an airless paint sprayer. So I searched that. Paint life was the first thing that came up. I’ve been watching ever since. So thank you for all the education.

If the customer wanted to change the color of the 6 fireplace cover stripes, what paint would you use? Is it possible to paint the entire fireplace cover to refresh the black paint?

@bbimota92674 жыл бұрын
that fireplace will need a matte clear or flat clear to protect it from almost anything that can get dirt or debris on it. bumps , shoe marks and anything. Even if you just mist on a diluted flat clearcoat , it seals the surface and binds that plaster material stronger together to resist marring or staining over time .

Those tiles looked like crap before. Looks like a was done on a cheap flip. Even though this looks better, how long would it last? Me, I prefer a brick or brick veneer.

Did you quote that job or charge by the day.? 4 coats a lot of detail work, dry time, then polishing it with 2000 grit (! what is that?). You didn't charge the client $100 your probably in the range of $600 plus material.
@pancakepillow5 жыл бұрын
I am pretty sure he is just referring to the cost of the materials, as in if you were to do the work for yourself.
@woodscrew56125 жыл бұрын
Andy Wobbler I’d agree. Some people try to be difficult. Whenever someone posts a diy video clearly they are saying the material cost.

Shoulda been a little more informative on priming the tile. What kind of primer, and advise people not to paint tile you walk on or in bathrooms. Not complaining about your content, I've just seen too many disasters with customers of mine painting tile. Paint will eventually come off, but should be fine for that fireplace. Nice outcome though.

@@turbo8481 what doesn't work the porceline tile primer? Well I did two coats of the primer on a bathroom tiles this past spring, (it was the designers idea not mine to paint the tiles) and I haven't heard any complaints yet. Though I did tell the client ,GC/designer, I wasn't guaranteeing it.
@turbo84815 жыл бұрын
@@drewcama5481 good call. Yeah I just have always seen it eventually fail. Kinda like painting glass. I just play it safe and dodge those jobs. It also says you can prime glass with those primers.
