These pet cafes are basically puppy mills. They have ones for cats, owls, otters. They breed the animals just like in mills to make money mostly from tourists. The dogs are not adopted and are mostly unalived when the business needs new puppies (if it’s a puppy cafe) and if they are purchased it just makes them pump out more. Don’t support them

Cat cafes here tend to have a double door, basically you go in through the first, then close the first and open the second. But if one is left open, the next person who has to come through would open the gates to all the animals inside. And they would probably smell it right away. One I recently visited had to close the cafe to children, for one since they aren't mindful about the doors, apart from the regular screaming, pulling and trying to lift the poor cats and parents not taking responsibility.

You can tell by looking at them they are well taken care of. I had 9 rescued, well 8, one was a blind malemute. They are not in cages waiting for adoption.

if the cafe makes money off presenting them to customers, they are going to be well taken care of... for the moment. As long as they are lucrative, they will be taken care of. But if the business flops? or a huskie gets a skin condition that doesn't make it all beautiful and furry and upbeat? Then what do you think happens to them? They definitely won't be around after that, and will either be locked up in the back or euthanized.

Cities in East Asia are in many cases spaceous enough for people to own dogs themselves, especially huskies. So these cafes allow people to connect with animals which has positive health effects. In many cases the cafes also have a humanitarian background. Here in Singapore for example, many animals in those cafes used to be strays and got a new life thanks to these places.

Had too much experience with birds being thrown away and left out after they lose their beauty because of poor conditions Dogs rend to get more empathy tho, so maybe it wasn't that bad

Huskies need a lot of space to run around in the outdoor. They are working dogs and should not be locked up in a cafe in a mall all the time. I doubt they were running to see their owner. It's more like they escaped because they needed to run around in a bigger space.

Yeah it's definitely a bad idea unless if the cafe is also a pet shelter/rescue where you can adopt the animals. I've been to cafes like this with cats in them and they were really nice. The cafe part is usually separated from the cat shelter but it's in the same building.

I saw an excited puppy play with a child in a pet cafe. Only to see the same puppy, while excited, be put into a small glass cage by a worker along all the other animals in their own small glass cages. And the worker hitting the dog with a steel plate, for it seemingly being hard to handle. I was horrified of how animals was treated in the zoos and cafes. Like the elephant in a small enclosure, which wiggled back and forth with its body, as it lacked the space to take a proper walk.

The dogs recognize the owner from afar, thus the owner has to treat it with respect. My dogs don't even treat me with that respect unless I have a treat for them.

1. Japanese cafes usually feature less than a dozen cats, who are well-adapted to spending their lives indoors, sleep more than half the day and are mostly sedentary. One hundred huskies, an extremely active working dog bred for the arctic, are an entirely different ballpark. 2. Many people have seen the videos of animals hanging alive and conscious from a meat hook in a Chinese wet market and skinned alive. Animal rights in Japan aren't great, but in comparison to China, they look like saints. 3. Not to say Japanese pet cafes are inherently free from cruelty either, or the stereotype that everyone thinks they're great is true. Animal ownership is inherently a tradeoff between the animal being fed and protected from predators, in exchange for the animal's freedom and restricted ability to carry out their natural behavior. Whether this tradeoff leads to a more miserable life for the animal depends on a great number of factors and is a subjective call.
