The absolute best thing to me about these videos is that when there's a really fast dog that tears through the course in record time doing every thing perfectly the crowd absolutely loses its mind. And then when there's a dog who just meanders around and jumps over everything in his own order and moseys through the pole thingies, stops for a snack, etc, the crowd still absolutely loses its mind. They just want to love on all the dogs and I can relate.

Best burst of laughter I've had all month when Lobo hit the poles with Lobo enthusiasm. OMG. SO great to tell his dad "meh, told ya dad. I'm not feeling it today". I SO relate. My 1st ever equine Western pleasure beginner competition w/ a horse I adored but no one else did bc he was stubborn unless you asked the correct way, and he believed you were deeply truly ready to rule-him. So, we enter the ring properly. I'm so thrilled to finally reach this stage. Just 1/3 way around the ring, he dead stops to make manure. Never did that with me, was never a problem. Couldn't get him to move for a 3 count which is too late. Horse breaks the required gait, you're disqualified. Now he was happy & wanted to GO. So when a lope was requested, he was power-housing fwd, and I just let him enjoy the ring. We passed everyone. Very uncool. I heard a small child proclaim "Mommy look at the FAST ONE!". At least my horse & a little child enjoyed it ☺️

He is too happy, lol. He’s trying to listen but his happiness is making him stop.
@chelseaneville96724 жыл бұрын
Actually it's stress. That's an environment you absolutely cannot replicate and so if the dog hasn't been adequately prepared this is what you get. These are top dogs and handlers so you don't see it super often, but when you do it's stress-related (whether the dog is doing this or just running wild - both dogs are over their personal threshold and so their ability to focus, listen, and take the line is mildly to severely compromised depending on how much stress they're under).

@@jazzyje5ter223 do you realize what the definition of stress is? Do you also realize that "happy" is a completely nondescript word when you're talking about dog behaviour. What exactly is it that you see that makes you say the dog is "happy" specifically? Which behaviours tell you that? Also, probably would be helpful for you to look up the definition of and differences between eustress and distress, and also about stress in dogs, generalization of training, environmental stress, and thresholds. This dog is above their threshold, making them unable to perform as they did when practicing. This environment is not in any way replicable and so there are many dogs who can't handle it and bug out this way. Stress does not mean "bad" or "unhappy". At all.

Huskies are extremely stubborn because they were bred to ‘lead the way’ so therefore, they don’t usually follow commands. The riders on sleds would rely on huskies to find the way when they were lost, so huskies became very independent and too smart for their own good. They aren’t fooled to do tricks just for a treat.
@chelseaneville96724 жыл бұрын
Stubborn is not the word you're looking for. The word is intelligent and very persistent. Obviously any primitive dog is less socially inclined and not necessarily what one would call "biddable" - it ain't a Labrador. Primitive dogs, including Huskies, are very easy to train as a professional. Every dog is unique and you work with them that way. In terms of general dog owners, people call this stubborn because they don't know how to train a dog, let alone one that is highly intelligent and independent.

Without wind chill the average January daily low in Prudhoe is -17 F (-9 C), where I lived in Kenai (just South of Anchorage) the average monthly low in January is 8 F (-13 C) with individual days dipping much lower. I was leaving Prudhoe on a delayed flight with a wrist in a brace so I couldn't fit my hand in my pocket or a glove, and didn't have any extra clothing readily available (already checked in). In a walk from the airport to a hotel/restaurant across the street that I timed under 1:20, my hand was completely numb and took over 20 minutes to get any feeling whatsoever back (had me a little nervous). I stole a towel and wrapped it, and stuck it inside my coat (making the rest of my body colder) for the walk back. Before you gasp, realize that the specialized clothing is so warm that you have to shed it the moment you get inside or you will break into a sweat in a couple of minutes, so unless you are in a strong wind, it really isn't as bad as it sounds, and you don't need to wear lots of layers. Lobo gets my vote! 💞🐾🐾💞 He's a natural actor and know how to play for more camera time. I look forward to seeing more of Lobo in the future 💕🐾🐾💕

What a beautiful dog! The fact that he decided to have some fun in front of the crowd makes him even more lovable.

@@c0Ld That is so not true. I've had two huskies and both are the most intelligent dogs I've ever had. They're just stubborn and not into things they view as pointless. It's actually unbelievable how many human words they understand and how aware they are to what's going on. They're also great problem solvers.

Huskies are usually just too independent minded for this kind of thing. Others might call it self-respect, though.

self-respect? I had one roll in faeces and think he was the king of the world. They are weird.
@auggieeast4 жыл бұрын
@@0MoTheG Intelligence is not the same as independence. Cats, for example, certainly are not dumb animals, but they just like to do their own thing. Dogs, already pack animals to begin with, have been bred to love humans. And I think we've overdone it in some cases, where many breeds love their humans more than themselves. Not Huskies though.

You can definitely get huskies to do obedience and agility buuuuut... Some days they're gonna sit down and go "mmm don't really feel like doing that, no thank you." Which is good for sled dogs because you want them to refuse if you give them a direction that would get you and the dogs killed, like trying to drive them over thin ice.
