Was you a patient?
@jakedovey74888 ай бұрын
Yes but I was sent there by the NHS rather than the ministry of justice, I was detained for multiple suicide attempts including two where I had to be resuscitated, in addition to extreme psychosis partially caused by a allergy to medication, but also due to mental health problems, I was transferred there from another unit and stayed for a year which by broadmoor standards is no time at all,some of my fellow patients are still there, but I was in a bad way back then, but broadmoor one hundred percent saved my life and enabled me to turn things around, if I hadn't gone there I definitely wouldn't be here today, I'd be six feet under, but it is not a place you want to go voluntarily it is a very, very tough place to be, I mean they have at least one riot squad and extremely high levels of staffing!
@jakedovey74888 ай бұрын
So I will answer this in parts, most of my time was in the most secure part of the old hospital but I moved to the new hospital before it fully opened and was on a short-term rehabilitation unit, I didn't see too much of the hospital as I barely left my room because when I was in the most secure part I needed ten staff and a dog handler just to open my door, the new hospital was absolute luxury compared to the old hospital which in my section had no windows for patients to help prevent escapes, the old hospital had barred Windows that didn't open, the new hospital in my old section has special windows that have special grates on the inside, they are much nicer than the bars as patients can open and close their own windows, each low and medium security section has a enclosed garden just for that unit, in the old hospital most units shared a garden/courtyard, however in the old hospital until I reached medium/low security the only real therapy I was able to access was animal therapy, in the new hospital I had access to almost every therapy programme on offer, in regards to making a documentary about broadmoor I don't know if it would affect my own mental health and therefore I would be reluctant to do so, part of the problem is that I can still be recalled to broadmoor although it is extremely unlikely
