my xr was at 78%. I got it in 2019 the phone really started to shit out on me tho there was major bugs and freezes constantly and it couldn't really run any intensive games. Id say its all from the battery since I never overheated it, cracked it or even scratched it. But I just got the 14 pro max and its a amazing phone I charge it for like 30 mins and it lasts all the way into the next day for me.

If you want to buy the 14 normal, don’t. Buy the 13 instead of the 14 because the 14 isn’t worth the extra 100$. They’re 99,9% the same and the extra 2gb of ram isn’t something you will really notice and everything else is almost (99,9% the same) the same basically. Please trust me, you won’t regret it and we should give sales to the 13 to show that we are not stupid to give 100$ for an iPhone that’s almost the same and is not even like an iPhone 13 2nd generation…

My iPhone 12 mini's battery health is 88%. I got it in August 2021 which is roughly a year and a half ago. I'm not a very heavy phone user so it doesn't bother me too much, but I got a MagSafe battery for Christmas this year which really helps on those longer days where my phone might be at risk of dying before I can get to a charger. If you have an iPhone 12 or above I'd definitely recommend one - it's adding years to my phone's life!

My iPhone 12 Pro Max is about 22 months old now. By the time it was 12 months old, my battery health was down to 86%, which seemed not great. I’ve kept an eye on it because once it dropped below 80% I could get the battery replaced under AppleCare. But 10 months later the battery health is still at 86%. Weird, but I’m not complaining. I plan to keep the phone one more year, so we’ll see how the battery holds up.

Aaron just a correction. Any combination of 100% is as far as I know NOT 1 cycle. Charging from 30%-80% is far less stressful for the battery than charging from 50-100% even though they are both technically 50% depth of discharge. The 30-80 would use up less ‘cycles’ than the 50-100 would use In sayin that I agree that people shouldn't worry. Just use the damn thing and replace the battery when you feel like you're having to charge too much
@hjf3022
@hjf3022 2 жыл бұрын
A cycle is as the definition given in the video. The phone itself records the cycle count. and it is not counting stress from the charge, it is counting equivalent charges to 100%. Though you are correct that some cycles will be worse than others for the battery, that doesn't make it more than a cycle.

I've been a day one Android fan and I recently (a few months ago) got a 13 Pro Max. How I use and charge the 13 Pro Max compared to my Pixel 6 Pro is like night and day... no, more like summer and winter. I use my Pixel more for work and the iPhone for downtime at work (watching KZbin, listening to music, etc.) and I've come to appreciate the hard work Apple has put into the iPhone hardware and software, especially in comparison to what Google (and other Android OEMs) has done with Android, though I'm not saying that Google hasn't done a lot since Android 1.0 because they have. I just wish they would do what Apple has done and focus more into efficiency and performance and less on eye candy.

@@someone12345 I know they have the adaptive battery feature. It’s just the fact that Android by design is not as efficient as iOS. It’s been like that since 1.0 but it has come such a long way since then. I can have some extremely slow days at work, and if I’m using both my Pixel 6 Pro and the iPhone 13 Pro Max with the same apps, the iPhone wins out every time. I have to plug in my Pixel every night; I don’t with the iPhone, despite the Pixel having the larger battery. Same thing if I’m comparing the 13PM to my Galaxy S22 Ultra.

I recently got an iPhone 13 Pro Max and the battery has been so good that I've found I no longer need to leave it charged overnight. I usually only use around 50% of the phone's battery per day which is really impressive. Often only 40%, sometimes 60% depending what I'm doing. I did see somewhere about the 40-80% thing so I've been sticking to that most of the time but only because it's been really easy for me with the huge battery. So I'll usually charge my phone before I go to bed to around 80-90 then take it off and put it on low power mode + DND/ sleep mode and it barely uses any juice by the time I wake up. Then I go about my day and I have a shortcut that turns low power mode on automatically from 60% and below. I often forget to turn low power mode off from the night before so most days it's on all the time, and I haven't really noticed a difference except that the screen dims faster. I agree with what you're saying though and I may try to care less now about how much attention I've been putting into my phone battery! I really love my 13 Pro Max but it's honestly a little too big and heavy for me.... Love love love the battery size and camera though. It's a worthy trade I think. I love never having to worry about bringing a charger or power bank with me anywhere anymore. The 13 Pro Max is a BEAST!

My battery health went down several percents over the past 11 months bc of long amounts of Genshin Impact playing. Keep in mind my 13PM never got “hot” but it does get a little warm after around an hour of playing. My 13 PM I got on launch day last year went down to 99% battery health a couple of weeks ago. It's been charged from 0% to 100% and every numerical combination it could come up with. It has been charged on a Anker 45watt & 30watt charger, iPhone 20watt and Magsafe charger and others. Anker and Apple cables are used. I also have a USB meter so I can see charging info like watts, amps, voltage. It gets charged in a case with no issues. I've seen it charge at 39watts max and the battery management system throttles the charge if temps get to high. The number one issue that kills battery's is extreme temps. Then the number of 100% charge cycles. Normal use or charging/temps do not hurt your battery. Don't leave your phone in a car during summer months or during winter for example. At that point you have done all you can do to take care of your device.

My 13 Pro's battery health is at 99%, the phone is about 11 months old by now. Here are my charging habits that might be useful: - I leave it charging overnight one every two nights - I still use Apple's 5W charger since the phone charges overnight (I have a 20W Anker charger but only use it when I need a quick charge or when I'm in a hurry or I need a small boost just to get to the end of the day. Fast charging generates heat, which causes the battery to degrade faster, so 5W is the safest, in my opinion) - I don't use wireless charging, since it also generates more heat thus degrading the battery - Never let the phone exposed to direct sunlight - Turn on optimized battery charging - Avoid getting below 10% level

One tip to rule them all: never charge over 80%. I kept my Iphone 12 Pro at 100% health for well over a year. Now, Aaron has a good point in that you shouldn't waste your life managing batteries, but some simple managing tips helps a lot. 1. I use a notification from Shortcuts at 80% SoC to remind myself of when to plug put. Charging usually happens at my desk while working so no need to babysit the phone, just plug out when the notification comes. 2. Avoid charging in extreme temperatures. No charging an ice cold phone or at the beach. 3. Slow charge as a standard, fast charge only when needed. Less important than the other points, but it's a good habit to maintain. I keep my old 5 watt charger at my desk for when I'm not in a rush.

@@Esiddik Really? Because I’ve heard it differently: on full charge the electrons are one side of the barrier, on empty they are on the other side, that’s why 50% is balanced, and that’s why the new phones come with this 50% charged. Of course Apple recommends nothing, they made billions by selling us the new model, or even servicing the battery on the older models. I can tell you my experience, with a brand new battery changed at the Apple Store. In 2 years I’ve managed to ruin it, by charging it overnight, and not charging it until I’ve got home, when the phone was almost dead (1-3%). So yes, it’s a possibility to maintain the battery by keeping it balanced.

Regarding your point about your experience with your phone. Did you ever know what your charge cycles are / were ? I don’t think you “ruined” your battery, 2 years is the life cycles of the iPhones depending on usage, I’ve seen devices go over to 3 years if it’s a very light user or longer. @@StandFany Hi 👋 Thanks so much for taking the time to reply with so much detail. That info really does help, and it’s good to know that you haven’t had any water related issues since the repair. You’ve highlighted a good point relating to the technician who conducts the repair. This has been one of my main concerns. I’ve always replaced the battery on iPhones myself, but with the iPhone 11 I’m a little more hesitant, but also wonder if doing it myself will produce similar results as my previous battery installs have been done successfully, albeit on phones without the IP rating that the 11 has. Your input has helped and I’ll use that when considering my options, so thanks again for your time 👍

Hi there. While I’ve not had a battery replacement, if you took it to an official Apple Store, they will replace any components that were eradicated to get to the issue. So, the water and dust resistance is completely replaced with brand new seals when having the battery, or other internal issues, fixed. Hope this helps.
@mrwriter86
@mrwriter86 2 жыл бұрын
@@dalekkyle Hi! Thanks very much for your info. Actually, this does seem to be correct, the only element that I haven't been able to get clarification on is how these new seals are applied. For example, the original seals are installed by robotics in the factory, so accuracy is consistent. However, if they are applied manually then there is some room for error. Should the iPhone have its battery replaced by Apple, I wonder if there are devices that replace the seals on behalf of the authorised installer, or whether the installer does this manually (such as how I might install it at home), thus increasing the error rate. As Apple does not cover water ingress, it would be an interesting discussion if the phone was dropped in to some water that would not have entered the phone pre-battery change, but has a chance to do so and damage the phone after an official battery replacement. I can't imagine that would be an easy battle to win.

I've almost never had an issue with the iPhone batteries in any of their phones dropping in capacity massively until my current 12 pro. It went down to 92% in about 11 months, and has been steadily dropping ever since. Its currently at 85%, although its been there for about 8 months. Its interesting, it seems fairly common actually, and I do wonder if the battery cells in the 12 pro series are of poorer quality over previous years. As I've read a lot of stories of similar issues with the 12 series. But my X and prior iPhones held up like champs. my 6 lasted at about 90% for 4 years (I had it 3 years and my mother used it for about 13 months after that), my 5s was at 95% after 20 months, my 4S was at 96% after 2 years etc. honestly, I've only heard stories of some odd instances, but outside of my 12 pro, its never been an issue. My guess is that the 12 pro is just a bad glitch. hoping my 14 pro that arrives today is better.

Have an iPhone 8 Plus & bought it new not long after it came out. The phone is now 4+ years old & I just had my battery replaced as it's max was at 84% of capacity. Still was operating with enough power to not 'down speed' the processors. I've been told by numerous people that's fantastic battery life from the original battery. It's my everyday phone, always on, always have the latest apps & IOS installed. My assumption for the exceptional battery life is not allowing it to get hot in the summer, almost never letting it completely discharge (unless by accident). Usually don't like to let it go past 30-35% & charge it frequently. As Aaron suggests I put it on a charger when I go sleep, unless it's already 80% or above. Heat is the biggest killer of any battery by far, especially phone battery's. I have a wireless charger that holds my phone attached to the windshield. In hot summer days in VA, it can easily be 90-100F outside, plus the direct sunlight makes it even hotter. Even with the AC normally on, it still can get fairly warm & is slow to charge if it's super hot & I'm listening to a podcast & using 'Maps' or others at the same time. Still, $49 for a new Apple certified battery & certified install at Best Buy for 4+ years of everyday use is awesome. -Avoid letting it get hot as much as possible & don't let it discharge past 25%. Of course have the latest OS release & Apps updated. These main factors will keep your battery in good shape for years. A few other things I do is keep Bluetooth off unless I need it, don't use Siri so all those settings are off, use Safari with a decent Ad Blocker, & reboot it once every week or two. Usually on my WiFi network, which definitely saves battery life compared to cellular. I also turn off all 'Background App refresh', only have location services set to 'While Using the App'. In System Services only have 'Emergency Calls & SOS', Find 'My iPhone', 'Networking & Wireless', Setting Time Zone' ON. The rest I keep OFF as I don't need them . I'll turn on compass to calibrate it after a reboot or IOS update, but then turn it off. No reason for Apple to have anymore info then needed. *This is just what I do & have had great success. I use the same settings for my iPad as well. Aaron appreciate your advice as always. My first go to when an update is available, upcoming IOS releases, & new iPhones, iPads, etc.

Well it REALLY depends on what you use your phone for, and how much. You can easily keep it on 100% for a year. It´s just simply about about how much you use the phone. I use mine very intensely for both work, media and gaming. That has made me loose 5% of the battery health over a year, which definetly is not bad either.

I think the battery % is more about the kind of temperatures you are living at, i'm sure when exposed to more heat battery would indeed degrade, thus to keep the battery from degrading slow I follow to 20-80% cycle method, ocassional 100% charges when i'm travelling around, my battery % has gone down to 93% since november last year, I noticed overnight charging degraded the battery much faster even though "optimise battery" option was turned on, it took a lot of time to get a hang of my chagin pattern which was preey much the same exact time every night and same exact wake up time as well, but it could not figure out idk why, but that made no real difference rather degraded the battery much faster, we are taling around 2-3% in 2 months, I used to charge 20-80% prior to that and my battery was degrading much much slower. but yes I live in an environment which is pretty hot so that heat plays in too, so If you live in colder environments then chances are your battery won't really degrade as faster as ones living in hot/humid conditions.

I just leave mine on the charger nowadays most of the time. Modified a case to permanently mount an extra 5000mah MagSafe battery for when I leave the house. My iPhone 12 ProMax is at 90% after a year. That drained far quicker than my 11 PM. One thing to consider is that people keep finding ways to use their phones more. In my case, I listened to a lot more podcasts, music, and audio books. As for not using a case, I have always used an Otterbox Defender, since 3G. I might lose a percent or two, but hey, a $69 battery replacement (I've never replaced one), or a $300 cracked screen replacement...

The equipment you used to charge your device not only does not do fast charging, but also helps manage the phone battery’s temperature. Not to mention that the recharging cycle is being handled with care. In other words, your device is not charging below 30%. It’s not that hard. I’ve had multiple iPhones over the past 10 years and none ever fell below 97% battery. I’ll be keeping my iPhone 13 pro max for awhile so we’ll see how it ends up. But I always use one-2 apps at a time. Always close apps when done and check for system/ app updates regularly.
@mcintosh.motors
@mcintosh.motors 2 жыл бұрын
Closing apps preemptively does absolutely nothing to “improve” battery life and actually worsens it as it requires more energy to launch an app from opened, then it requires to be on “standby” mode which is incredibly well optimized for efficiency. Apple did not design iphones and multitasking apps to then be closed after every use

Really, the biggest things that take battery life are: video recording, video playing, and a lot of mobile data usage. If you do less of those, the battery lasts longer. Other things to protect your battery won’t have much of an effect.

I can confirm this video is accurate. I bought used iPhone 7 Plus in mid 2020 which had 94% battery health. For the first 1-2 months the battery downgraded to 92% and I started my routine to charge my phone to 100% every time I want to use my phone and every time my battery drop to 50%, I quickly plug in my phone to the charger. I maintained 92% battery health for almost a year before I stopped doing it cause I was lazy and I was playing games while my phone is still charging and my battery decreased to around 80% and now in 2022 it's 73%. So definitely try this routine/method to maintain high percentage battery health

What I realize with newer phones is that they have better battery (duh but hold up with this crazy idea) how about not charging it over night when it’s not even 60% down cous just like some iPads theses new phones could go minimum 1.5 days if you’re not a blind full brightness, no wifi only 5G data user, who only records every single days of your life in 4K lol btw XR user with 85% after 3 years and used to work in the sun with AirPods on with phone heating in my pocket 😂

Got my new XR 2018 in that year. It is now at 92 percent battery health. Got a lot of apps and use it for calls, texts, GPS driving instructions and web surfing. Use it 14 hours a day. I keep it constantly plugged into the AC while at home. Still works well although it drains to 0 in 4.5 hours unplugged. Will buy new one in a couple of years from now. Looking at SE4 in 2024 at $599, cheaper than buying new XR 2018 and more features too.

I disagree Apple ruined lots of my iPhones after changing the battery so I'm going to micro manage my charging habits 30% to 80% rule so I don't EVER need to have my devices serviced by Apple again with all these nightmare experiences I had. Aron saying ”I tell people don't worry about the battery" Yeah right man now with going through so much frustration with Apple dealing with devices that they ruined after battery servicing my devices. Apple techs can cause more problems when servicing devices and blame it on the user for new issues that arrise. Like when I sent in a flawless condition with glass screen protector since day one iPhone that looked brand new and got the same device back with scratches all over the screen like WTF Apple. They blamed it on me, What repair tech was careless enough to scratch the darn screen when working on my device. Then sometime I got Apple devices back with new hardware problems after a battery repair like Face ID not working, speakers not working. In addition $69.00 adds up quick with you have lots of Apple devices. If I can avoid needing a battery replacement as long as I own the device why wouldn't I go that route and also it keeps the resell value high if the device is in flawless condition and the battery doesn't need to be replaced anytime soon. Listening to Aaron he probably tell you charge your phone however you like. Drain the battery 0% constantly everyday, fast charge it back up to 100% and leave it connected to an outlet for days. Wireless charge your iPhone even if it's too hot to touch. Leaving your iPhone in hot cars is perfectly fine. Don't use no cellphone case carry a fragile piece of glass around butt naked etc..

The real reason is that their phone arrived with a battery that had a real capacity that is above the design capacity for an iPhone 13 Pro which meant it had more of a buffer between the capacity it came with and 100% of design capacity. My iPad Pro has a battery that’s 500 mah above design capacity and in some programs, it reports above 100% battery health.
