Love your content! I have lost 50 lbs in 27 months after going whole food plant based with zero exercise. Never counted calories and only focussed on not overeating. I eat a lot of beans though, pretty much daily amongst other foods. I sampled all the beans I could buy locally and picked 17 that were delicious and eat them on rotation. I'm in my early forties and didn't loose any muscle mass. Best decision of my life, and hope others give whole food plant based diet a try!

My biggest 2 problems have been: 1. I'm lazy. 2. I get ridiculed at work for eating plant based. They always want to know what I'm eating and find ways to pick on me about it, makes it to where I don't want to eat healthy. However, we recently hired a woman who took interest in the things I try to eat, which has caused me to reincorporate the diet back into my life, I fix myself and her lunch. It's tough being on your own without support from friends or family, when everyone is against you and you have no onse near by to connect with.

Keeping it simple, finding the recipes you enjoy and sticking with them can definitely help. Also I’m glad to hear someone at work is encouraging you to get back to a healthier way of eating!

That's why I love your cookbook - it's simple (as well as delicious). Some vegan/wfpb cookbooks are overwhelming to me with the massive ingredient list and time commitment. So thankful for yours. Will there be a sequel someday?

I had back pain for over a year that was caused by sliding a snow shovel under a couch wrong. A few months after that my back had spasms all night and I couldn’t move to take care of my kids for over a week and needed lots of help. After watching the game changers documentary I stopped eating meat and I kid you not my back pain went away almost over night. It was incredible. I hope your back is doing better now. Backs are finicky. Doing the starch solution now!

I found your talk very inspiring for someone who has already lost about 40lbs, then become stuck and finding it hard to continue to lose more. It was when you spoke about HOW long it took you. I had become depressed if I only lost 1lb a week - and not having eaten that much! It has reassured me, so I may continue to do the right stuff. Many thanks to you, your wife and Bridgette. x

I just purchased your book. Thankfully, I don’t have 100 pounds to lose. I have about 10 to lose and I am looking forward to learning how to prepare meals without relying on Weight Watcher TV dinners. Thank you.

It's awesome how well you're doing, and you are such a great example of keeping healthy over the long run, and that people can change! Keep it simple, but some people eat too simple, and miss out some key nutrients. Learn about all the nutrition, and don't be scared to pop a multi for B12, iodine, D, omegas and calcium. Do get enough protein to fill you up- tofu and beans rule! Most people in general don't get all that- but we should all be aware. :)
@PlantBasedGabriel3 жыл бұрын
I find most people who keep it simple get everything they need. Taking a B12 supplement once a week or month is pretty easy. And as long as someone is not eating a severely calorie deficit diet (which I don’t recommend due to it being unsustainable), protein is about the least of their worries.

Love your bean rice burger recipe. Just ate one with yellow mustard and a dab of sugar free steak sauce on sourdough toast. It was delicious 🤤. I’ve been eating low fat since I had my gallbladder remover six weeks ago. Never intended to go vegetarian past the two weeks recommended by the surgeon but here i am six weeks later, down ten pounds and feeling great! Potatoes are my favorite starchy staple and I probably have some most meals along of course fruit and veggies. Need a snack? Cut a cold precooked potato into thick slices, sprinkle on just a few grains of salt and enjoy. Another favorite is mashed plain potato with gravy! Yes, gravy...made with veggie broth, light miso, thickened with arrowroot powder. Maybe a bit of pepper. Hugs 🤗 to your little one!

What about plant milks like unsweetened soymilk? I do remember soymilk was in the starch solution for overnight oat recipe.

I stick to using water for most recipes, but we also blend our own oat milk if something “really” needs a plant milk.

So what did you do with your college education? I really enjoyed your story. You have several really good one liners, I'd like to steal! It is really amazing how one thing can make such a huge change in a human's life. Not many doctors really know nutrition. My moment came nearly 10 years ago after watching Gary Yourofsky's greatest speak ever video in YT. I went full plant based over night. Best thing I ever did for myself. Question: Do you experience issues with your family get togethers ie. Christmas or ThanksLiving? My mother and father are long gone, but now I'm having the same conflicts with other relatives which makes it nearly impossible to visit them on Holidays. I always get the, "Oh, are you still doing that vegan shat"? comments. Or the, "I'm not vegan" LMAO as they chew a mouth full of meat with their mouth open and smiling like a major leaque baseball player with a full chew in progress. Each of them are over 100lbs over weight and I am the one who is doing something wrong? My mother's last years on earth were horrible due to obesity and all the things that come with it. She would never listen to me, no matter how hard I tried to explain the elephant in the room. Not many people understand WHY they are fat, must take daily medications and grow slower and more sick with each passing year. Rj - Beyond Harvest Veganistas on minds dot com

Nutritionist across the country should be retrained in how important plant based eating is. I used to work as a cook for a school and the "food" those kids eat each day are fattening, full of grease and refined sugars and carbs that are not healthy
