Have you been eating more plant-based foods? How did going vegan change your life?
@btorres25014 жыл бұрын
I had the seed planted years ago but was too stubborn to change. I fell so in love with pigs and piglets and vowed to stop eating pork 3 years ago. Slowly I began to eat less and less meat thinking I could eventually become vegetarian. Well a year ago my body became lactose intolerant and as I was evaluating my diet I decided if ever there was a time to give up animal products this was it. I plunged into the research and the documentaries and I thank my lucky stars I made the connection and went vegan a few weeks later. 1 year down and a life time to go :). My meat head husband even joined the journey and is also completely plant based. We live better, we feel better and we love way better.

I have been vegan for so long I can't remember the initial changes. I think mainly, I remember the ethical burden that was in the back of my mind, being lifted when I realized we didn't HAVE TO eat animals to live. Besides that, not having a any illnesses, doctors, or prescriptions, is pretty significant in 39 years of not eating any animal "products"

Dr said the same thing to me. I fell for it and allowed myself to be put on a statin..something I fought against for years, being someone with familial hypercholesterolemia. Was told that because it was inherited, diet would not bring it down low enough. I first went vegetarian in May of this year and after watching “Game Changers”, I went vegan or WFPB in June...mostly oil free as well. I have lost weight, feel better, and cholesterol has gone down..this also after I have been weaning myself off of the statins. I have more energy and stamina for my workouts. I’ve enjoyed finding new recipes and trying new things and have at least introduced my family to new meals! I can’t see myself going back..especially after seeing “Forks Over Knives”. I see the animals quite differently..can never go back.

Vegan since December 2019, I am so grateful to all the trailblazers that opened their eyes before I did, and the ever growing group of compassionate human beings that continue to inspire me every day. COVID 19 appears to be the result of our horrific mistreatment of animals on an unprecedented scale and in a way, we’re lucky we haven’t yet experienced a pandemic more transmissible and deadlier that the Coronavirus. I fear it’s only a matter of time though, if we keep forcing trillions of animals into confined, unsanitary and torturous conditions, in defiance of science-based social distancing practices we are having to practice amongst ourselves today (August 2020). Empathy and compassion will be the most essential survival tools of the future. Love and respect to all life!

Vegan is always better than plant-based, sounds like at least some of them (probably not all) are making the ethical connection, which is good to hear and of primary importance. Went vegetarian 2,5 years ago and then vegan in August 2018. I wanted to do it for animals but I was also hoping for some health benefits. Two years before going vegan, I had developed arthritis in my left arm and hand (I was only 36). After having done some research over these past 2 years, I think my joints were inflamed because I had been eating lots of dairy. Anyway, only a month into the experiment, I'd suddenly noticed I didn't feel any pain, and the rest is history :D

The beauty is you can eat as much as you want guilt-free! I recommend following vegan Instagrammers and KZbinrs for inspiration. Forks Over Knives website has some great recipes. I went vegan, because I almost had cancer in my uterus, because of the hormonal unbalance that eating animals provoque me. I went vegan and my hormones were back in their normal track in a month. I didn't need any surgery to remove the cancerous cysts. When I was an omnivore I couldn't menstruate for 7 months, and after 1 month of being vegan I could finally bleed, and my body healed... @2004Llkju2 жыл бұрын
I went vegetarian at the start of 2021. I had previously been vegetarian with my dad from I was 10 to 14. (Not consistently so I don’t count it) but I didn’t know anything about animal agriculture and only were “vegetarian” because my dad was. But my dad married a woman who started putting meat in our dinners, and my dad were to scared to stand up for it and he/we completely fell out of it. But 2 years later when I had just turned 16 I met a vegetarian girl who became my best friend, and I just had this longing of going back to vegetarianism. So I did, and it felt so freeing. And I loved choosing vegan every time I could, but I didn’t truly make the connection between the dairy/egg industry and the meat industry until about halfway through my vegetarian journey. But my mental health was really really bad at the time and I found my biggest comfort in animals, and I needed a reason to stay alive, so my activism grew, and so did my knowledge. I then started to have this insane amount of guilt from eating animal byproducts that I lost so much weight it’s and became severely underweight. I went from 52kg to 39kg in a very short period of time. My family was sure I had an eating disorder and started buying all my “favorite” foods, which was yoghurt, chocolate milk, cheese etc.. it resulted in worsening guilt so bad, and I almost only ate when I was literally dying. I wanted to go vegan so bad but I was so scared. And I felt like I betrayed my mom because she wouldn’t know what to feed me. And everyone was so worried I would cut out every food when I cut out even more “food”. I then ended up giving my friends and brothers all the animal products my mom had bought and then finally went 100% vegan in January 2022. It was the most free I had felt in my entire life and my fear of food disappeared COMPLETELY. I didn’t have an eating disorder mindset like my family was convinced, I was only full of guilt from contributing to the suffering of animals. After going vegan I went full on actives and going a political youth party from animal rights, the climate and feminism, as well as plenty of other animal rights organizations. I got some amazing friends and resources through the political party and the organizations to be the best activist I could be. My 12 (now 13) year old brother also joined me in my political journey this June and also went 100% vegan mid August. And my mom has gone pescatarian, as well as cutting out dairy milk. And says she wants to vegan in the near future. I felt like i had nothing to live for, and I didn’t plan to live past 18. And now I turn 18 this December and want to pour my entire soul into politics to fight for all animals. I still struggle a lot, but I know they need me, and even though I find it difficult to believe in myself, I can visibly see the impact I have made on the people around me and I know veganism will win. I can’t give up, I need to stay. I need to force myself. Because if I won’t, who will? If not now, when?. I would rather be put into the animal industry myself than EVER support it. Thanks for your time💚

The voiceless animals who endure torture on a daily basis can't speak up. That's why vegans do. It's not about thinking we are better it's about the animals. I wasn't born vegan as you say. I was fed meat without knowing what the process was. I became vegetarian at age 8 despite the fact my family were not. But I didn't become vegan until two years ago, thanks to another vegan who recommended I watch the Dominion documentary. I was beyond horrified by dairy and egg industry even free range was horrific. And I'm so glad someone helped me see that. I try to let others know what I know as respectfully as possible but I'm not going to keep quiet.

It's never easy to accept that we've been doing something horrible all of our lives Unless they're absolutely ignorant and heartless. I am nearly 69 and an ethical vegan of nearly 12 yrs now. I am fit healthy and active and hardly get any colds. When i was in my 20s 30s 40s my health was never as good as it is now. I ate meat dairy eggs and cheese which looking back was making me ill. I also ate a lot of processed foods which are very unhealthy, and i was over weight for my height. When i went vegan for the animals i didn`t expect to feel so good. I did a lot of research on what vitamins minerals and nutrients our bodies need and i have not needed to take any supplements because my plant based diet is enough to keep me healthy. I do add yeast flakes to my foods and marmite for the B12 our bodies need and get my omegas from nuts and seeds. I love my diet now and my favourite meal of the day is breakfast of porridge oats, fresh fruits nuts and seeds. I also love my veggies too. I also quit my very old daily habit of snacking on biscuits which id had all of my life since a young girl and now snack on fresh fruits. When we know better we can do better and feel better. A lot of old bad eating habits can make us become sick as it affects our bodies immune system and can cause inflammation to build up over time in our bodies. Good health is our wealth. Like the very old true saying goes, let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food. I believe that we should be taught in education as young as possible about food nutrition and how the meat dairy and egg industries are not needed for good health and how we have all been brain washed and conditioned to consume animals and that its un acceptable and immoral to exploit and kill sentient living beings.

I so love this channel. I am so uplifted. I went plant based about 3 years ago after a decade of battling autoimmune diseases and cancer. All the inflammation that caused lead to advanced coronary artery disease despite being at an average weight and only in my 30s. I went on a plant-based, high nutrient diet and almost immediately started getting better. Once I realized I was never again going to have animal products in my diet, the wall came down and I became vegan. I found it to be the most painful and at the same time most freeing experience I've ever been through. Now both of my daughters are vegan, and the daughter of mine who was unfocused and just wanted to play (which is absolutely fine for a kid) is saving every spare penny she has for a rescue farm when she grows up. We don't have a rescue farm, but we have adopted 7 amazing animals as a start. It has completely changed every aspect of our lives for the better: health, goals, bonding, and how we view the world around us.

I'm so happy to have livekindly in my life, I have a story to tell about my vegan life to anyone contemplating a vegan lifestyle that will save thousands of beautiful animals over there life. In 1973 when I was just a young 13 year old boy I lived on a farm in southern California with a loving mother and father and 8 older siblings 3 sisters and 5 brothers ( i am the youngest ) We lived in Los Angeles until i was 12 then we moved to a big farm 100 miles south of Los Angeles, at frist it was awesome living on a farm with so much space it was incredible. So my family started getting farm animals, like a baby pig we named nixon two cow's named good girl and good boy, a goat named willy and a turkey named gofer and lots of other animals that i named, my siblings were much older than me and I didn't have any friends, so all of my best friends were all of my animal. My job on the fram every morning and at Sunset was to feed and water my best friends and i couldn't wait to see them ever morning because i loved them so much. I would walk down a long dirt road each morning to the school bus and all of my best friends would follow me every morning after they were fed and they new when the school bus would be there after school and would be waiting for me at my bus stop. All the kids as well as the bus driver were amazed to see how much my best friends would be waiting for me and all of the kids a the bus driver would get off the bus and pet and talk to them, even the chickens would be waiting because they new in was time to be fed. One day in December 1974 I got off the school bus and one of my best friends Mr Nixon my pig I have had since he was 4 weeks old wasn't waiting for me and all the other animals wouldn't come close to the kids from the bus that pet them all most every day. At frist i didn't think much about it, then as I started the long walk down the dirt road the animals wouldn't fallow me and i got a bad feeling something was wrong and started running as fast as I could as i got closer to our farm i could see a strange box truck I've never seen before it was the local butcher I didn't know what to think so i look in our barn to see my best friend Mr Nixon's life ended in the most inhumane way possible, i passed out and awoke in my room thinking i must have had a bad dream. Sadly it wasn't so, with in 3 months all of my best friends life's had the same sad ending. I became vegan that day and have never had any animal products sence December 1974. Not even leather have i bought no animal products what's so ever. I'm so happy to see the vegan lifestyle doing so well and i have been praying so long for. I don't care why people go "vegan" as long as they just do it. For health, the environment, or the animals, it doesn't matter to me as long as they just do it. cnghiem67 i get it, its just because when people stop eating animal products for their health they are seeing veganism as a diet, not a lifestyle, when people that are vegan for the victims see a piece of meat, they see a dead animal, they feel connected to it somehow, but those who are not vegan for the victims probably wont feel like that and most certainly wiil give up on veganism more easily

@@madumaiaa perhaps, but not necessarily true. I see your point especially if you consider some celebrities who change but then revert back. I know of health vegans who are never going back. This is especially true of older people who are tired of their fomer poorer health. Or there are health vegans like myself who grow spirituality and are now thankful and celebrate that they and the people they help change no longer harm animals with their nutrition. I have nothing but great respect for ethical vegans. If only i had seen that myself years ago. It also gives me hope that so many young people are ethical vegans who are also healthy.

I recommitted to a vegan diet after a terrible Lupus flare up. My skin was terrible with rashes, horrible eczema and painful scabs. I was so worn down and sore. I had off and on fevers and joint pain. I had to do something. I first went vegetarian and my skin issues remained and the sinus congestion was irritating. So now I am plant based vegan, trying to reduce sugar and salt. I feel so much more energy, I am More tolerant ( honestly), patient and I am not in pain so I am very happy and I pray I don’t give up when I’m out with friends or I smell something yummy. Lol!

I'm vegan. A lot of these are great. But a few of these ppl are taking about veganism and how it makes them feel better or look better. I would say that makes them plant based. Veganism is a philosophy and a lifestyle concerned with stopping animal abuse. Joaquin phoenix has the right idea. He does so much animal advocacy. More ppl need to use their platform like him. Natalie Portman is also amazing in that sense

After being vegetarian for 14 years, going vegan in 2007 made my life easier, making food choices very much more simple and helped me to feel at peace with myself. After explaining vegetarian cheese so many times to people that newborn cows from the dairy industry were with slaughtered and there forth stomach was dried and crushed to make animal rennet for cheese, therefore it was not vegetarian. I thought to myself what am I doing supporting such an incredibly cruel dairy industry!

Veganism changed my life in every way and all for the better. I only regret not doing it sooner. I love that so many celebs are speaking out as they have such an impact with the huge audience they reach. In the opening scene of this clip is BTS. I am a fan of theirs and know that they love animals and have big hearts. I wish they would go vegan. That would have a huge impact seeing as how they are one of the most popular bands worldwide. They could change countless minds and save countless animals by doing so.

For 6 years I don't eat animals and I am on plant based diet for 4 years, I try to buy vegan products, I use natural cosmetics and my skin looks better, my teeth are caries free. I am 33 years old and people give me 25, people ask me If I dye my hair but this is my natural color. I have only found two gray hair after my surgeries because I broke my wrist. I have Gilbert syndrome and it help me to reduce my symptoms. I have always liked eating fruits and veggies and as a kid I wanted to become vegetarian but I didn't have strength to do it because it was really hard to me watching my parents killing animals that we were eating. I love this video, very positive examples and message... 🤍💛🧡💚💙💜❤

Scuba Diva Try telling that yo her or her followers on Instagram. She posted a pic of her dinner which included tuna and I was like “wtf?” And I got smeared in the comment section. So much hate. I couldn’t believe all these people follow Jane Fonda and her environmental work and yet act like vegans are crazy and extreme and I was “mean” for making the comment. 😩

@@kristin4840 Tuna? You mean like bluefin tuna? I just lost the last shred of respect I might have had for her. This is especially because there are now many plant-based seafood options, you never have to kill a fish again. www.vegan.com/sushi/

"No animals need to die for me to live" . Being vegan really opens your eyes to how gross the meat advertised to us consistently is. Also, crazy how all these cultures (indian and Rastafarian, etc) have been eating plant based for thousands of years and somehow it's appearing to be a new thing.

I am vegan because I cannot be a part of anyone's suffering. I cannot put another being into my mouth and chew them up. It haunts me to think of the entire process of horiffically breeding, raising, killing, and eating beautiful, sentient beings.

I have been vegan since January 2016. The main reason was health. I did not have any health issues as such. Also i wa as curious. After 6-12 i really started to feel that i have much more durability during physical activities. My skin cleared up and i noticed that I can concentrate and remember better. Much later i truly realized about animals, but from spiritual point of view they have purpose. The same as higher beings use us/humans to exist. I still have leather boots, belt and bag which I purchased before becoming vegan and throwing them away makes me hippocrate. I truly believe and understand that being vegan also means to be sustainable and ecology friendly. Blessings ☀️💛🌼💛☀️

It has been BY FAR the best thing I have ever done for myself, the planet and the animals. I am so Happy to see others doing the same. It is not something we should do rather we need to do.

I have been vegan for almost 5 years now and it has changed my life tremendously. I have more positive energy than bad. I enjoy cooking a lot more. I have influenced those in my life to buy cruelty free products and also eat more plant-based meals. Overall veganism has shifted the way I look at the world and has a lot to do with the person I am today.
