I'd say the "plane" portion is what differentiates a rocket from a plane. Rockets are both lifted and propelled via thrust, so they won't go horizontally unless they have some element of their thrust angled downwards (not counting orbiting, which is more falling sideways very quickly). Your lifting body was able to fly horizontally with most of the thrust also pointing horizontally. I'd call that a plane. Well done! Also, the way that flew was awesome. It feels like something you'd see in a sci-fi show, when the hero first gets a new vehicle and can barely control it because it moves to quickly, so they fly through a city, pulling off all sorts of stunts.

I am so impressed Scrap man! The big brain was really on today! XD. Beat like 30% odds and got great stunt footage. Amazing! I believe it is using aerodynamics and not just thrust because of how well you can fly horizontally without adjusting or falling under gravity, also that turning speed and angle. The real question is what is the lift to thrust ratio. I want to know that. Also have built something along this concept in KSP just fuel engines and closed sideways Airbrakes. So colour me impressed with the flying skill adaptation.

Try building a normal plane that can, by just taking off unneeded parts and bending jointed parts, transform into a wingless one. While typing the suggestion, I thought of an even better idea! How 'bout try building a WINGLESS GLIDER that is either launched off by a launcher or dropped off by a normal plane. The glider SHOULD look like a dart!
