I would use the low cards to avoid making a mistake translating face cards to odd/even. Also when you flipped that last packet up you looked at a few cards but really the very first one tells you the code...ace of diamonds=odd red.
@trapdoormagic3 ай бұрын
Yes, assuming the AD is not the chosen card. So you really need to look at the first 2 to be safe. I like using the court cards because it hides the odd/even pattern a little better from the spectator...but you have to do what works best for you too. Thanks for your idea and for watching !

@@trapdoormagic oh yeah... but remember you put the chosen card into the middle of the pack. Did he cut it or shuffle? That would negate my assumption 👍

To interlace the 6 and below cards with the rest, you could just shuffle them in. Thanks for the trick!
@trapdoormagic4 ай бұрын
Yes, that's 'true. I know what you mean and that would be faster. I do it manually because I like to make sure when the cards are spread the deck really looks shuffled...but I am probably being to picky about that. Good observation. Thanks.

Nice technique, thank you for sharing. Offering the initial cut without a shuffle signposted it for me, but I'm fussy. I wonder if the original used a faro/riffle? Intelligent simplification if so, and thank you :)

Yes. I think the original version worked that way. Good observation.

Nice. A really obfuscated "odd man out" principle. You could really play with the endings. Of course, once you know the card you could stop the card-by-card review a couple of cards after their card & then do the "the next card I turn over will be your card" head fake then flip their card. Or, you could "miss", give up, then spread through (culling their card) only to have it appear on top.
@trapdoormagic4 ай бұрын
Yes. All excellent points. I have also NOT done the 1-by-1 card turn overs at the end and instead simply spread the packet face up to let them see there card is there without staring at it. It only takes a few seconds (with some practice) to quickly see the odd card. From there you can do the revelation any way you want. Great ideas. Thanks for pitching in.

It is a lot to take in. But once you practice with set up a bit the trick will flow easier 😊🙌🙌😊

Exactly. My first time setting it up was confusing.

Nice trick! I may have missed something in your explanation, but why remove the lower value cards? You could stack them the same way then have them dealt into two piles then have each pile cut. Then the spectator could choose one of the four piles. Avoids any need for an excuse to remove them. Or have I missed something?
@trapdoormagic3 ай бұрын
Great observation and .. no, you haven't missed anything. You can totally do it that way. I just wanted to stay closer to the original version by Charles Jordan but without the sleight. But you can keep ALL the cards in the deck if you want to. What I like about removing a certain random group of cards is that it subconsciously adds to the illusion that the deck is fully shuffled. But your point is well made. Thanks!
@belzoni54304 ай бұрын
So is the main reason for removing the 2s-6s just to make the deck more manageable? It would with the whole deck arranged that same way, correct?
@trapdoormagic4 ай бұрын
Good question. Yes. It makes it easier to do and it makes the deck feel more shuffled since so many cards in random locations are being removed. The only part I don't like is how long it can take to remove them - so it might be good to experiment with maybe removing fewer cards.
@belzoni54304 ай бұрын
@@trapdoormagic Thanks for the reply. I think I might try to get very comfortable with this and then play around with asking the other person if there's a range of cards they'd like to remove to give even more of an illusion of agency. Thanks for the video! Great stuff!
