Niche fragrances aren't really my vibe, mainly because I can't fork out £300 on a bottle. I'm only interested in exploring unique or vintage-smelling niche scents. Serge Lutens has lots of those. I tested all the Delinas and Baccarat Rouges out of curiosity and wasn't impressed. Apart from this video, they won't ever be mentioned on my channel. If I come across some niche fragrances that actually impress me, I'll be sure to share them with you. Thanks for watching!🙂

It really feels like the 2010 were the fruchouli decade. It just got sweeter and sweeeter until we just went straight up gourmand. I'm hoping we'll soon see a shift back to florals and ambers. And I hope maybe some greener fresher fragrances, perhaps some purple florals too would be lovely.🤞

You're very welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed it.🙂 Venezia was such a beautiful fragrance, much more beautiful than Laura Biagiotti Roma. I would have loved to mention it if I had a bottle. Awesome, I loved watching this (and will rewatch both Pts 1&2 when not at work (and distracted)), seeing the older bottles & hearing you relay the changes in popular scent categories thru the decades. My fav too, is Pure Poison - it’s however a recent (Black Friday 2023) acquisition for me, a heaven scent; & yes, if only it lasted longer.

I’m glad to hear you enjoyed the video. Isn’t it heartbreaking that the current Pure Poison doesn’t really perform? It’s such a beautiful classy expensive-smelling floral. Luke has a YT short about Paloma Picasso. I personally adore Paloma Picasso, but i can understand someone not liking it. Its a strong animalic Chypre. If you like carnation in a perfume and you like classic chypre perfume, you'll probably like PP, but if you dont, i wouldnt recommend it.

Owned and wore Champagne (still do), Poison, Ysatis, Coco (still), Angel, Amarige (still), and Poeme among the ones you reviewed and a few others like the original Calyx that were not on your list. Though I like some niche scents here and there (Lalibela by Memo Paris), I seem to gravitate to my older perfumes for the most part. To me, after IFRA and the Paris and Britany era, everything turned cheap and loud depicting very little class. If you can get your hands on the vintage Sicily by D&G or Chanel Crystal EDP (not EDT), I think you won't regret it, both masterpieces. Thanks, Luke. You are an old soul; you must be. 🙏
@lukeparfums

Hi there! Calyx wasn’t on my list, but I remember it. I completely agree that most post-2005 releases cannot be considered classy. I really don’t like it when reviewers describe everything as “elegant.” I think you recommended Sicily to me once before, and I actually went looking for it, but with no success. Chanel Cristalle is on my wishlist. Yes, I suspect I’m an old soul too because I’ve always gravitated towards classic as opposed to trendy. Thanks for the lovely comment. Have a nice weekend!😊

@@lukeparfums Just a quick note, D&G reformulated Sicily and I believe Harrods carries the new version; it's actually very close to the original but w/ more citrus. On Cristalle, Chanel carries the EDT on their site, but there's a distinct difference w/ the EDP. Both eBay and Etsy are still my go to sites for vintage stuff, but I live in the US, so there maybe a difference in what you see! Good luck. Just like Champagne and Amarige these two are on my lifer list!

Hello again! These are fun ideas for videos. I recall you saying you prefer the Coco EDT to the EDP. When I tested them a year ago, the EDT seemed like a lighter, softer version of the EDP. I retested them at Macy's today. I think the EDT has a much better rendering of sandalwood in the base, whereas the EDP has more emphasis on the rose and amber. I like them both, but I think you may be correct in your assessment. When I first started getting into perfumes, I always went for the EDP because they're usually stronger and longer lasting, but over the past couple years I've realized the error in my ways! 😂
@lukeparfums
@lukeparfums 8 ай бұрын
Hi there! I’m glad you enjoyed them. Yes, I prefer the EdT but I’m not sure I’d be able to articulate the differences so well that you did. To me, the EdP feels slightly harsher but the differences are minimal. I also owned a bottle of vintage EdT and it was almost like a different fragrance. Very rich, warm, ambery, the liquid was deep orange. The oakmoss was also detectable. The current EdT is much brighter in the opening but it’s still warm and ambery when it dries down. I also learnt that over time. EdP doesn’t necessarily mean better, stronger. EdPs weren't even a thing back in the 80s. A lot of the fragrances I know were released as pure perfume, EdT, and maybe cologne. Poison was never an EdP.
