So on board with what you are saying. I have been prepping for over 40 years. Yes! Saw this coming way back then but also for personal hiccups too. Life is good for those.. I have also been building on personal skills. Learning how the pioneers survived and did every day tasks and how they planned for necessities. From livestock care and needs to doing laundry and everything in between. This next spring will be building a wood shed and a smoker attached to outdoor kitchen (a must here because of humidity. Too hot for wood stove in the house). Cooking skills like making yeast from potatoes, smoking and butchering our own meat as well as other ways of preserving that meat. I have done a lot of canning vegetables from the garden but never meats. 3 years ago I learned how to do meats and fish. Lol my family thinks I am nuts because I absolutely love to can foods. The shelves remind me of a kaleidoscope of colors plus the knowledge that we are prepared, food wise, for whatever comes our way. But one thing that most prepping shows do not hit on or just touch, is being mentally prepared. Without being mentally ready for the worst life can throw you, or the govt., all the food storage in the world will do you no good because you are going to have a total meltdown and be useless to your families and yourself. Food and eating or drinking water will not even be on your radar. So get yourselves psychologically prepared for the worst but pray for the best. God bless you all. Love watching your program and watching the interaction as a family. Adorable family.

What's most important is to maintain a healthy body weight to minimize the burden of excess calories on our bodies.

Fats, fiber, and protein are really important. Obvs we aren’t nutritionists. But if you need to be able to work the land or walk far, that’s a good place to start. Sugars/carbs are also super important. The way I figure is, go as close to the whole food as you can get. Ultra processed isn’t going to give you any balance. So starting with a whole food mindset will help.
