I so loved this episode. I am a doll collector and I was so impressed by your knowledge of the doll world. I remember watching you years ago just kind of tossing them aside for the boy toys not even reallizing that I was screaming "Nooo. That one is worth a lot of money!" The family is so nice and it is great to see the daughter joining in on the collecting. You were great with her and and included her as a serious collector as well as her Mom. I have 6 nieces and none of them like dolls. Pooh.

Love that they aren't "precious" about their collection. Daughter gets to play with them, and it doesn't seem to matter if the dog destroys the shoes. The "one in, one out" idea is great too. So many collectors just keep everything, and it overwhelms the space. Lovely people; great collection.

Thank you, Alex, for talking to us about our collection and taking the time to create this video! It was a pleasure to share the dolls with you and everyone on who watched :) Seraphim was feeling a little shy during the interview, but wanted everyone to know that she uses many of the dolls and LEGO to make stop motion videos to tell her stories. That’s what she uses the dollhouse at the beginning of the video for. We also wanted to mention for those who were curious about the wearable leather art items we create these items to tell stories, for photoshoots, movies/video, art fashion shows, and for gallery events. The items we typically create for our booth and online are jewellery, journals, and purses. We are grateful for the kind and positive comments and thankful for the stories shared about people’s own doll collections.

i love dolls. I have collected dolls my whole life,. I will be 47 this year. I mostly have modern porcelain dolls and reborn dolls. I know the porcelain dolls have little to no monetary value but i just love them. I love to find them in thrift stores for 410 and less. they cost about $100 new. I have one antique doll. I also have kept most of my dolls from my childhood. I just got a new reborn doll yesterday, Unlike most people who have reborns i see mine as dolls as works of art and i do not feel a need to role play with my reborn dolls. or any of my dolls. Great collection and I love her displays. I never collected dolls when I was a child. There was a Christmas incident in the early sixty’s with my new life size walking doll and my barber little brother with his new Christmas scissors. That probably put me off of it. I do buy a doll now and then if I happen to find one that is unusual. I think The last one was about a year ago. It is a 9 inch ceramic nun doll from the 60s. She looks mean.

I'm not a big fan of dolls, but I've really gotten into following doll modifiers. I also have always loved doll houses and follow a couple of miniaturists/doll house makers. I want to get my house together so I can put the doll house I made for my niece and rescued before my brother moved to Colorado 25ish years ago. I have it out in my shed. I want to clear out the room I used to sleep in and set it up so I can work on the doll house. Thanks for showing this lovely family. I wonder if there are any time they have been to cons with their costumes. Not that I've been to any cons in the last 20ish years. In fact, about the last one I went to was to meet Robert J. Sawyer - a Canadian SF writer, that con was in Houston.

Not only a wonderful collection, but presented extremely well too! When my daughter was 8, she would take the clothes off of her Barbies for some reason. A house full of naked Barbies. Barbie came out in 1959, the same year as me though, so I feel a sort of connection. With the clothed ones at least! I am very impressed by the enthusiasm, and care that their daughter shows.

Little girls like to dress dolls - take the clothes on and off. The trouble with Barbie is that it was hard to put the clothes ON because of her extreme shape and everything was tiny, tiny except her boobs and her head. So maybe your daughter couldn't face the chore after a while!

I’m not a collector by any means, as I prefer not to have clutter. The only thing I have regretted ever throwing out was a special baby doll that I got for Christmas in 1964 when I was eight years old. I used to pray that she would come alive. My only daughter turned out not to be a lover of baby dolls, so I tossed her when I was in my thirties. That dolly brought me so much joy and I wish I still had her just for the memories.
