Dang that block looks familiar. ask that feller if he bought it off a guy in union lmao. swear that the 2nd one i built for my 04 and sold, if so its held up pretty well. Couple things, If you have any questions about 5.4 dohc stuff I've been at that game for a long long time and have made over 1150rwhp with em with a single 75/76 and I also have made several custom sheetmetal intakes for them(b4 the coyote plates were available). I also still have a couple coyote intakes laying around if he doesn't have a decent intake. Make sure that crank is balanced super well, rebalanced just in case, second, that harmonic balancer looks stock, while the motor supposed to be internally balanced, the square bore of the motor makes it vitally important that there be a 'perfect' balancer just in case when turning 8000rpm. don't use any aftermarket balancer except the 8 rib from innovater west, trust me, iv'e used ati and fluiddamper... Also, the high flow melling oil pump, there is an aluminum one and a steel one, make sure you get the STEEL one, its heavier but it doesn't fail, and make sure you do the cooling x-over on both the back of the heads and the front - ok long enough, great work and good luck, expect equal hp and tq out of those motors, they are fun

Andrew what alternator is used on this 5.4 4v? What about the clearance between top of alternator vs intake manifold. Mine hits. Last night I realized I may need to notch the mounting points on my alternator to get my Coyote TSP (boss style) intake manifold to mate with Adaptor plates. I need like an extra 1/2” to 3/4” to make it fit.

That passenger side front cylinder definitely had water in it, u can tell by the top of that piston being cleaner then the other cylinders plus the surface rust on the valves

Will you please build a 4.6 triton truck late 90s early 2000s more of a budget build but done right under 5k
@johnny_truth3 жыл бұрын
I’ve been wondering if that would be a good idea. I have a 99 and thought about budget building and slapping a cheap turbo kit on it and see if it would be fun to drive. A few suspension mods and not sure if the transmission is strong enough for a power adder.
@midnight347 Жыл бұрын
@@johnny_truthyou can get a built 3650 done for 1000 bucks if you can find a 3650 to build you can prob build t45 too Hanlon mototsports if it's a 4r70 they can take 500-700 hp depending on a few factors. As for building it not sure not an auto guy.

The 5.4 3v is what you're thinking of, the 2v was gutless but bulletproof like the 4.6 aside from plug blowing issues, the 5.4 DOHC is the legendary engine used in the shelbys. Also the 5.4 was used up to 2018 in E series Vans with non-VVT 3v heads and they're utterly bulletproof. ALSO the early teens shelby used what very tightly based on a 5.4 block.
