Please use a torque arm or two. Do not trust the included torque washers, they will fail. I learned the hard way. Lucky I was only going 10mph when the wheel popped out and I cartwheeled. If I was going 30mph, I probably wouldn’t be here to write this.

You’re welcome. People putting these things together can be pretty sloppy, so it’s best to always check the voltage and polarity. The hub motor just died today while I was riding in traffic. I am trying to figure out how to fix it now.

1:41 that's what I was going to ask you I was thinking of getting the same kit I have the batteries. I was just going to put a longer wires to the kill switch where I can reach it up near the bars. 1:49 that's the next question I was going to ask you What does the pedal assist do is it necessary to disengage the motor or will the motor wear out from not using it what is the purpose of it?

You don’t need to hook up the pedal assist. On this bike, I didn’t install it, and it’s just throttle only. I figured we would never use pedal assist anyway.

I notice after testing out the red and the black wires, you switch the black on top and the red on the bottom. At the 7:10 minutes, the controller power wire, the red on top and the black on the bottom? I'm about to fix my friends old ebike with the same controller and the battery pack, if i connect the connectors, black in red, red in black.

Great work, thanks for sharing. When we turn off the battery, wonder front hub ebike or rear hub ebike conversion kit makes it easier to bike manually ? There is the added weight of the hub around 18-20 pounds, curious if that weight is in front wheel or rear wheel makes it harder to exercise when the battery is turned off....

I bet it’s about the same. Either way you’re going to have to deal with the resistance from the motor while you’re riding, which isn’t too bad.

I suppose it's on the buyer to do their own research. I saw an Amazon review of a father who was suing one of these companies for "not telling" them about the need for a torque arm. He included pics of his teen boy. His face was a giant scab and he had brain damage. These companies are selling parts. They are not responsible for teaching engineering or physics.

Which hub kit did you use? I have a Huffy Panama Jack I want to convert and I'm concerned about the fork drop out width.

It didn’t have a brand-name. It was a generic hub motor I bought from eBay. That was six years ago, and I don’t remember who I bought it from. I just bought the cheapest one.

That’s a bummer about the battery I only have 200 and the kit I was gonna buy is 160 and its an 1000 watt motor for my fat tire bike and it said it says it won’t come with the battery and the battery is like 300 rip.

Correct. I didn’t attach the pedal assist, and it works fine without it. I just use the throttle when I want to turn the motor on.

I think so, but would you would need a few of them. For example, if you had a 36 V system, you would need three 12V batteries.

Yes. It came with the pedal assist sensor, but I knew I would never use it. I just like using the throttle when I need a little help. I’m used to riding motorcycles, so it’s familiar to me.

i just had to mention i noticed at the beginning of the video, the bike had an ocean pacific chain guard, towards the middle/end it has a 90s schwinn chain guard, its like finding an easter egg :)

You are correct. We had that leftover from our two-stroke gas bike build and decided to put it on this bike after the two-stroke bike got stolen.

darn, sorry to hear someone stole it, i buy/sell lots of bikes as a hobby, after having bikes stolen myself i now call the police dept to check out bikes i buy to make sure they are legit as theres nothing worse than a thief in the bike community. im always happy to return a stolen/missing bike, even if i lose a little money.
