Well done. New to this, I follow the LRSU guys on Facebook. Tough to find anything over 500 in Indiana.

What part of Idaho are you shooting in.? Looks like Sandpoint area. Anyways, nice work, wind estimation is tough at those distances.!

I hit a soda can in 3 shots last weekend at 1,004 yards and 1,380 yards in 14 shots yesterday. Last week was my first time trying a soda can at 1,000 yards and i used a hold that i vaguely remembered from shooting at 1,000 yards some weeks or months before for my first shot. It ended up being about 1/2 mil high and 0.1 mils right. Both attempts were from the top of a mountain to the side of another mountain in nasty wind. Yesterday, when hit a soda can at 1,380 yards in 14 shots, there was a really nasty 90 degree cross wind and mirage i had to deal with. I learned some valuable things during that last attempt. Keep your cheek on the stock and use your reticle holds instead of dialing. I dialed for shots 2 and 3 that resulted in a 3rd shot hit at 1,004 yards but doing that dialing at 1,380 yards is a fools errand. My goal is to hit 1,400 yards on the soda can within 10 shots at this point. Obviously the bubble level has to be consistent every time. Also, i had a problem seeing my impacts on my steel back ground silhouette that i had painted white. The mirage was that bad. The can was hanging about 9 inches in front of the silhouette on both scenarios i've mentioned. I was using the Tikka T3X TAC A1 in 6.5 Creedmoor and Norma Match ammo, not hand loads. The scope was the NF ATACR 7-35x56 with Mil-XT reticle, which i absolutely love. I've been shooting a LOT lately and that familiarity really, really helps. You really learn things when you challenge yourself to stretch your limits. If you use a background and can't see your impacts that miss the can and hit the silhouette, you're in big trouble. I couldn't see any of my impacts until the impact on the neck, just above the can on my 13th shot, just before i hit at 1,380 yards. The only reason i saw that one, was because i already had a head shot and because the two hits were so close together, i could finally see where i hit. I was then able to lower the hold just a tad and make the hit. It was an awesome feeling, but i feel i can do better.

That's one hell of a challenge and one we have no choice but to take. Like my 1 Mile Milk Jug Challenge attempt I wasn't satisfied with an uncertainly of whether I actually hit it or not. I wanted to be clear and indisputable. So I guess we'll just have to keep trying. That was a solid attempt and it looked like you hit just to the right of. Next time we're out I'll have to take the challenge and send you the link for the video. Are you a member of LRSU?

Nice!! How many shots did it take? We shoot clay pigeons at 400, 600, and 800 yards in our scoped rifle class. 1050 soda is a great accomplishment!

Factory Tikka’s are a solid rifle. I consistently shoot 1/2 MOA at 100 yards with cheap ammo and a 3x9 optic in my 30-06 T3. Granted I tried several different factory brand rounds first to see which shot best in my rifle.
