I once had a striker on Football Manager called Ruben Franch. I signed him as a young lad and he quickly blossomed into the greatest striker the world has seen. Made Messi and Ronaldo look like Sunday league players. He scored a minimum of 25 league goals every season for 18 years until his retirement at the age of 37. I still think about him to this day.

Whilst the sport of football or rugby has only been formalized recently the actual hobby or practice dates back to the Ancient Chinese kicking heads between dead horses. If it hasn't died out in all this time how do you suppose it will die out any time soon? Sure it may go through changes become more modernized etc. But die out? Not unless we all evolve to not have feet. Which will not happen in 1000 years.

This highlights the limitations of FM, it doesn't take into account that for example St Albans is a small town, it could grow into a city but is more likely to be classed as a suburb of another large city. Also it doesn't allow for entirely new teams to be created randomly, that would be pretty cool imo.

Check the attendance records - Europa and Champion's leagues. There are stadiums which hold over 500 thousand people. Celtic seems to have one. I'm guessing it assumes a steady growth rate in non-loaded leagues.
