As a summoner I can say that spider staff is one of... if not the single worst summon for the part of the game you get it Also if you want to do a summoner run in the future... beserker's glove affects whips and gives you lots of defence, and whip abilities (even tag damage) stack for some hilarious results Also certain summons do really well (and really poorly) in specific situations, for instance, I actually used spiders for the first phase of queen slime, but then switched to hornets for the second phase so they could hit her more consistently

in my experiance the spiders are like minecrafts wooden pick you use them for 1 task to get a better one be it sanguine staff or blade staff

Ya’ll arent using them correctly then. Spiders NEED background walls. Also you can just resummon them on the enemy to instantly stick them. Used to use it till i could get optic(if lucky with black lens) or even all the way to Tempest staff back before sanguine and blade staff were a thing.

"welcome back to this purple ocean of liquified pain we call a world" that's true in MANY more ways than you think. "liquified pain" to do certain things and NOT use shimmer takes a LOT of effort. It's very painful. And yet using shimmer you can do it easily. Fishing for a shortsword vs. throwing the most common metal in your world into magical fluid and using what comes out to make some copper bars. It's the equivalent of pain. And it's really annoying to deal with in large amounts. And it's purple. It's a liquid. An ocean of liquid. A purple ocean of liquid. It's also liquified pain. It's a... purple ocean of liquified pain you could call a "world".

one of the best summons early hardmode is abigal, you can re-summon her to make her stronger like the stardust dragon. she becomes a huge aoe of damage (her damage bonus per resummon gets better in hardmode too). her with the firecracker would be wayyy better for deseoyer especially as she would help kelt the orbs as theyre realeased.

for HM summoner most people just use Abigail instead of the spider staff since it gets a buff in HM. Edit: also if you were wanting the feral claws for auto swing there's actually now a setting that makes all weapons auto use.

As someone whose played summoner in Terraria, never use Spider Staff unless you're in an arena with background walls. Spiders minions work the same as the actual enemies, and can climb on background walls, but are stuck to slow walking and jumping for melee combat without them. The latter style is incredibly slow, and never worth it, the former pattern can get latched onto enemies much easier and makes them a decent, choice, if not a particularly great one.

Can you use a filled chest to help remove shimmer by making the shimmer-lava interaction return nothing? Also, you can flood spaces with lava then use obsidian skin to safely excavate out the shimmer.

I started my own shimmer-flooded world inspired by your run, and it's been a ton of geological engineering indeed. I even built water generators to bulk remove shimmer, though both the bottomless lava bucket and bottomless water bucket can be really handy. The good thing about the shimmer everywhere is that it blocks mob spawns, so building a farm didn't take too long once I realised I didn't have to clear much stone or light up caves.

Looking through the wiki, you can actually throw ores into shimmer to get the lower tier's counterpart. Such as Titanium ore transmutating into Mythril. Beware though, this method will only get you Mythril/Orichalcum at most.

Myth: Defeating other pre hardmode bosses is not required at all in legendary mode on zenith seed. You can just defeat wall of flesh and instantly convert your wold into hardmode. All what you need is to build dirt walls with doors, platinum armor, stacks of dynamite and lots of ice blocks to make floor.

Idea: Terraria, but your class changes after every boss. You could use RNG to determine which class you use, 1=melee, 2=ranged, etc. Could be a fun way to explore different classes, but could also be tedious getting different weapons, etc. Either way I think it would be fun to watch!

You should do a playthrough where you combine all of your challenge playthroughs into one playthrough in the "zenith"/getfixedboi seed. Ei; part of the world doused in lava, the other part doused in shimmer All or most of the world is shadow painted. Every death you spin a wheel (albiet with less painful options) Every boss you shrink the world and randomize it, as well as spinning the wheel of destiny Unsure how the small world would work, might just leave that one out? Ditto with the "no E's" playthrough, that one was not exactly the most fun to play. Doubt youll actually do this, but im just throwing the idea out there!

Spiders are an amazing minion, but they need walls for enemies they have trouble sticking to. With a fully walled arena their DPS is insane. Also whipping constantly changes the target often, making them jump off and try to attack the new target. One of the nice things about summoner is that you can just use another weapon and only whip once in a while instead.

A tip id give you was, in a small arena like that you can hammer all platforms to be stairs, if you hold S while falling on those you will not stop and just fluently pass through it. Many of the time syou died to skeletron was due to platforms stopping your fall, and while its a pain in the ass to do it its very worth it.

Abigail is actually really, really good early hardmode combined with firecracker. You can get 5 or 6 summons pretty easily at that stage, and then combined with the damage multiplier from firecracker it's actually insane DPS, considering it's literally a pre-boss summon

One thing I would like to tell you is that 1.4.4 added a setting that allows auto swing, so you didn't actually need to look for Feral Claws. Spiders need background walls to be effective. Once they have them, though, they're pretty consistent. I'm not a very good summoner, but with background walls, the spiders just slaughter things. Whenever I found another minion item for quite a while, I would go back to the spiders after a little bit. Just more consistent. They would have helped quite a bit against Skeletron Prime if you had filled in the entire arena with background walls.
