Possibly you can swap petcocks with the X and get a reserve without getting a huge tank? I have heard of that with my old YZ250F.

Gearing most likely. My DRZ did 104 with stock gearing. With the gearing I have now it hits the limiter at like 95. Supermoto top speed is gearing dependent.

It seems that quite a few don't believe that the CRF450R only has 5 gears. You can read it right off the Honda specs page for the bike :) powersports.honda.com/2016/crf450r/specifications.aspx

Motonosity idk about the 2015 CRF. But I have an extended tank that holds 3.1 gallons on my 06 CRF where it extends the tank behind the shrouds and does not protrude higher than the stock tank. Wouldn't even know it's a aftermarket tank except that I got a clear one so I could see how much gas is in the tank. It's a Clarke tank. Just in case you wanted to see if they make one like that for the 2015.

Hey Motonosity, you should try getting a small canister full of gasoline and attach it to the side of your bike somewhere that's inconspicuous. Put some fuel stabilizer in it and use it and refill it at least once every few months and you'll be good to go.

A lot of bikes you can switch fuel petcocks, you might be able to pick up an X model fuel petcock and switch it ouf

problem is that this bike is fuel injected, so it uses a fuel pump not a petcock....

M2 Films a few injected bikes I've worked with The bikes have a fuel on off tap before the pump, granted theyre older injection bikes but surely it would be more or less the same system? And isn't the x model injection as well? Not sure about the X, never worked with one but most older injection bikes have a reserve

The X is not fuel injected. It's one of the reasons I chose the R.

Yeah I appreciate everyone lookin out :) But from the (very limited) research I've done on the subject. There isn't an easy reserve solution for the CRF450R. And honestly, I don't really care haha. I probably wouldn't do it anyways. It doesn't solve running out of gas. Just gotta be aware.

My KLR650 managed 111 on the factory speedometer (on a private race track, of course) and was still climbing very slowly. It would’ve maybe ran to 115 if I kept in it. My guess is real top speed is somewhere around 105. Anything after 90 takes a bit lol.

The 2018 CRF450RX weighs 257lbs wet and has 59.9 WHP, with a light rider of like 150lbs it'd be banging on off the limiter at around 105mph. Thing is easily capable of going 150-160 mph theoretically with the right gear ratios, tires, rider, suspension tweaks (idk if it has adjustable suspension) but man that thing has an insane power to weight. Without a rider it's like 4.4lbs per hp with a 155lb rider its 6.7lbs per hp.

No need for a new tank, just switch the gas valve - petcock ( yes, that’s is proper name ) with one from an X model. Won’t get you any more miles but will always give you a reserve position and the, “Hey dummy, you’re almost dry!” heads up.

What gearing are you running that you are maxing out at 100mp/h ? With 16/39 on my KTM 450 SMR I hit 125 with ease.

All the stock gearing on the race bikes usually pin at 95 ish because they're made for short dirt tracks where high acceleration is needed. You could easily get over 100 just with new gearing and no engine work lol. Possibly just smaller front and rear sprockets if you wanted to go the poor mans way

Just got a 50cc mini moto out of a bin and I've just brought new sports fairings and fuel tank. Goes 30mph any ideas on how to make it faster? It has no high performance air filter and still goes pretty quick does it make a difference if I get a high performance air filter? Thanks and cool video!

if it's a 4 stroke there will be a pink wire on the cdi that is a red limiter if you cut it you can go a lot faster and if it has a cvt you can change the variation weights I did that on my 50cc moped and it given enough space will do 50 mph

What's the fastest speed limit in America? I'm in Australia and the maximum speed is 130 km/h witch is about 80mph sorry if I'm wrong
