These are the type of instructional videos I've been looking for. I bought a small laser setup just to get familiar with programming and using a laser engraver/cutter. I don't plan on making anything other than practice pieces with it. I'll be ordering a 100W Co2 in two months that I plan on using to add income to my already existing business. I look forward to watching your other videos.

im interested in getting a laser but I agree it needs to be industrial grade. What is the cost of that 100 watt that you have? At my job we have a 6000 watt but I believe the cost was up around $900,000 and by the time they added the rack system loaders it was nearly $1.4million But it has capability of cutting 2" thick parts

I was well into the video, before I realized you were to cut recycled forest carbohydrates. I was all amped up for steel ! I really like the manner in which you educate. Many tend to fast talk, or leave out steps, expecting everyone already knows each step well. My primary interest is in an engraving solution for on-the-fly work. So far, fiber laser approach seems to be more of a job-shop type of thing, so device can warm up. Cost per use would need to rival a rotary engraver, and in order to not lose sharp results, a motion table to bring the work to the laser. There are a couple self-contained products of the sort from Red-T, but they are still in the embryonic stage. I fear this stuff will shrink in form factor and become what I need post-retirement! For now, I am stuck at office, doing paperwork..... and I found your video as the result of viewing another laser that was recommended I check out. A nice way to kill some time during this shutdown, even though I am considered "essential".

To me, learning to program and operate this equipment would be the easy part, but finding enough work might not be.

CNC is actually pretty easy stuff once you get some of the basics out of the way assuming you aren't doing multiple processes on multiple machines where you can easily paint yourself into a corner and no longer be able to hold your work. I don't mean to take anything away from him but rather intend to imply that everyone should give it a shot. The trade needs people who can think on their feet and pay attention badly and many libraries (around me, at least) now have 3d printers available for public use.

@@rogerwebb9600 Hello, Roger and nice little setup for your business/hobby. As to the question that Martin Z and cutting 16 ga. steel. Yes a fiber would work well, but also a larger CO2 would work as well. Of course we are not talking 10-12 thousand dollar laser either. Much greater. I am not currently, but I operated a German built 1500 watt laser for 23 years here in Houston, until the company sold it to a contractor in Alabama that had an identical one...For parts to cut his government contracts. while employed and operating this one, we ran it10-12 hours a day usually 6 and sometimes 7 days a week. Most the metal we cut 90% was stainless steel 1/4 inch to 14 gauge. Most of the 1/4 inch SS was and some 3/8 SS was cut with oxygen and the 10 ,12, and 14 gauge was clean cut using Nitrogen. From 1991 - 2011 we would almost cut a million pounds of Stainless Steel making our own product. In about 2011 they started outsourcing the cutting to Mexico vendors and some in China... that was a cluster ,to say the least. ( wonder how that is working form them now?) I assisted in rebuilding that laser 2 different times. One time at the cost to the manufacture and the last time was on the company, I signed the bill, which was a whopping 84,000 dollars. I had tried to talk to management and (put my 2 cents in) and upgrade instead of rebuilding. But, what did I know, I was just a lowly operator that new the machine, mostly inside and out. After a year has passed it was back to loss of power and going through lots of optics. The company was sold and we started outsourcing more and the laser was sold. It was still an OK machine but was in need of new ballscrews. Not cheap! on a 60 x 120 table, yes that is 5ft by 10 ft table. I cut out lots of cool stuff while I was there and made myself a few things too. Not only did I operate and nest up parts with the software, I operated our 750 ton CNC Cincinatti Autoform Pressbrake , operated a 8 ft pinch roll and am a welder/ fabricator. I have made some nice things to say the least. Our laser was a 1200 watt laser , but we had oversized heat exchangers on it and we could easily run 1350-1400 watts. I have tuned it after a new optics change and gotten 1500 watts, Talk about cut some stainless!!! Anyway ,Roger I just happened across you channel and thought I would check it out. Cool Stuff! TW

Over 20 years of experience with 2KW/4KW Lasers I highly doubt people are paying 3k$ a day for something we would do for 300-400$ for each at the cheapest prices around. Great video nonetheless. Confused though as to why your nozzle is so far off the material surface and you're still having reflections (Power is too high, standoff is too high and your feedrate is too slow). Interesting video either way, love the lasers!

Hi, you need to see more of my videos, it's a 100-watt 6090 laser. See my video, Chinese LASER's**WATCH** before you BUY, (NOT) an eBay laser. My machine was $11,000 with TAX "yes you need to pay TAX to get it off the boat" and then $8,000 for Carveco and then Laser cut 6.1. Then a good filter system, all up you will be looking at about $25,000

@@rogerwebb9600 LOL - Thank you for making these videos. Some people don't want it if they can't steal it and others don't want it if they have to spend their own money to buy it. These are a banker's dream and a lot of the problem in today's world in my humble opinion. They live in a throw away world buy it on credit fantasy where everyone can get rich quick. Thank you again for what you do and all the best to you and yours.

@@eyamnottier3411 Mate, just wishful thinking, or deliberately putting this numbers to attract views from people with a CNC rig that hopes to get that amounts as well. But whoever knows, I wish him he can charge that amounts

@@sorinmiliescu That's definitely why i'm here. Looking to buy a laser or garnet cutter, but they're expensive, and anything to offset that cost would be interesting. But of course like most machinery, they're priced not to what they cost to make, but what they cost to you. Which is usually some % of your business. Usually over 100% for a single machine, because a dude with a single machine isn't running a business.

PUT GLUE ON EVERY PIECE THAT IS CUT OUT. LAY BOARD ON IT. LIFT UP BOARD WITH ALL CUT OUT BITS IN THE EXACT SAME AS OTHER PIECE AND HANG ON THE WALL IN THE SAME ROOM. WOULD MAKE A VERY INTERESTING PIECE.
