3 other facts about Jamaica which are important: 1)Jamaica is the only country, outside of the U.S., to have won the Scripps Howard national spelling bee competition. As well, their spellers always finish in the top 5 and 10 in the competition. 2)The University of the West Indies, headquartered in Jamaica, is one of only 2 regional universities in the world, catering to 17 English-speaking Caribbean countries, and is ranked in the top 100 universities in the world (this is out of 28,000 registered universities). This university produces 3 Nobel Laureates/Nobel prize winners! In fact, The Mona Campus’ Cardiac Simulator (utilizing a pig’s heart), which at least nine US teaching institutions have used in their cardio training programs, including Johns Hopkins University, Mayo Clinic, and Stanford University. 3. Jamaica is one of the first countries in the world to have a railway system and electricity, even before the U.S.

check your history of railway systems..Jamaica's was 1845...USA's was 1830. Also..Jamaican electricity began in 1892...USA 1879..BUT it is true that Jamaica was more electrified than the USA first....but this is simply because the USA is a much larger country...

@Ancient 6.6 Well when beating children is par for the course and encouraged by church leaders for centuries and used to be done all the time in school and berated and made to feel utterly hopeless with few prospects for any improvements long term. You tend to not be in the right frame of mind. You can blame slavery and the British for this fuck up. Many traditional West African religions had no issue with gays and neither did many pre Islam pre pre Christianity western and Central African societies.

As a Jamaican, living in Jamaica, I'd give this 8.5 out of 10.....well done, we watch this series very often. I will say, though, you'll have to go deep into the countryside, or into an older person's home, to get "johncrow batty" served to you as you describe.....but you're right about the taste. Happy New Year
