For the Tamer trainer class holding a lollipop, I always kind of interpreted it as representing that old saying of 'using a carrot or a stick' to force obedience. The whip is punishment to enforce behavior while the lollipop is a treat to promote behavior.

The thing about Ash not aging is especially weird considering his multiple canonical 1 year anniversaries of different events. In particular there was a line in the indigo league that confirmed it took 1 year for Ash to collect all 8 badges. The gen 2-4 anime just didn't acknowledge Ash's age while bringing back old characters for cameos (confirming the whole series is continuous), but then in Best Wishes they canonically called Ash 10 again, but also had Dawn make a cameo confirming it's continuity in the entire series and creating a paradox in the canon. BW basically reset all of Ash's (and Pikachu's?) experience too, making him a novice that didn't even know how to catch Pokemon or about type efficiency (and pikachu lost to an untrained starter)...

What happens when you let a houndoom hold a sitrus berry before the battle and let it use crunch in the battle. How would the houndoom perform the move without eating the berry, as it is a dog who holds the berry with its mouth but in order to bite, it also uses its mouth. That kinda reminds me of how Zacian would be able to use crunch while there is already a sword in it's mouth!
