Martijn, the skills and talent it takes for someone to produce the quality of work you do are many, but there’s one I think leads all the others: your ability of seeing beauty. You see beauty in many different places, many of them ‘mundane’ to our eyes. The beauty of not only the mesmerising view from your cabins, but the beauty in the wall putting, in the wood grains, in the styles of everything around you. Your mindful lifestyle allows you to not only look at stuff but also see them. And of course your mastering of the skills of film making gives us these weekly gifts we all enjoy peacefully. I wish you the best of luck and health so you can continue inspiring us for very long. Best wishes from your homecountry

It's always a pleasure to sit back and share your life and work with you on a Sunday morning. The birds chirping, the chickens clucking and following you around (until the router fires up, lol), the fire roaring, the sewing machine out in the 'meadow', the fastidious work on the floor vent for the oven-----heck; the whole shebang! It's a total joy and my aged eyes and soul thank you.

The other two are not as portable, and garage sale finds. I rip it, I fix it! Lol. That didn't surprise me, but the laid out geometry cutting surface did surprise me.

It's nice to see Martijn watching a film, in his cabin, on his Macbook. Living in the tent was something that needed to be done, but now, a year later, the time has come to start to have "a normal life". And watching a film in a heated cabin, that isn't going to get destroyed the next time the wind really blows, is ample evidence of a life "bordering on normal".

Sunday night always starts with "a Martijn", as your films are affectionately known in our house. Watching you sew the curtain was poetic, and I could tell the first one was not to your liking. I could not understand what you said on the phone but guessed your Mum was telling you how to make the curtain fuller. The result (as always) was absolutely perfect. The whole film was beautiful - the floor vent to dry your clothes is brilliant and you were so modest about learning how to make it. I don't quite know what we'd do without this therapy on a Sunday, thankyou.

Martijn, nice job on the cleaning. It occurred to me that perhaps you might get a soft bristle broom and sweep down the stone walls once a month or so since cooking oils, soot, and general dust might accumulate on the stones. It's just a suggestion, but you've every right to be proud of your home. Can you build a breezeway between the workshop and wood store with a stone patio and a sheltered roof where you could put you outdoor kitchen? The stone patio could extend out far enough for a table and chairs for meals, or an outdoor grill for cooking, or even a bench you could use as an outdoor bed on warm nights? You could set up a chimena for a fire on the patio too. Sorry, I got carried away! Lol

Your clearly an artist/craftsman. You work with many different materials, but overall you got the artists eye. Your videos show it as well. Need a shelf; you'll design it and make it no matter how much time it takes & the final product reflects your artistic sense. Functional and beautiful. A pleasure to watch. Better yet- you know how to not always talk. The front of your kitchen is pure Martiin. It looks like it could lifted from a Vermeer painting. Since your so grounded in nature - rock, mountains, wood and food - your insight that you need to be outdoors most of the time, for inspiration. Artists need a muse and an outdoor kitchen and shop will provide the stage for many wonderful videos of Martiin doing his dance. Cheers

Living in each moment is so special. Just imagining where to sit and sip on a coffee or looking up from working on a computer to take in all the views that surround you is so wonderful. I hope every day continues to give you so much pleasure in achieving this marvellous dream of creating such a beautiful home.

That cabin interior is looking amazing. When I think back to the dirt filled barn area that bottom floor was, I am astonished. It’s like a completely different building on the inside. I love watching the progress each week, and am thankful to you for sharing this journey with us. Stay warm! Until next time.

If you see a few washers along the inside bottom of your sink curtain , it will weigh it down a bit and keep it in place better. It does this sewists heart good to see you do such a careful job of seeing. Using an iron is the mark of a serious sewing Good job!

I just watched that movie last week. It took several sittings because it was so long! It's the same thing. Instead of stone and mortar or wood and nails, it's fabric and thread. I've tried to explain this to my capable boys. I have sat outside with my sewing machine piecing together scraps to make a new shade cloth for a new greenhouse. It was quite nice. I need to drag it outside more often.

Your videos are exceptional. The realization of the videos by putting your cameras at the right place and the drone image are making a big difference on the quality. After watching it I just can’t wait each week for the next one. Sunday’s are not coming fast enough. Merci beaucoup!👍👏

I laughed out loud when I saw the sewing machine. Is there anything you can’t do ? I do wish you would name your girls, they get so excited when they see you. The drone work is magic, I really feel like I am there with you at times, the beauty and serenity is sublime. Love every second of these videos.

You never fail to take us to your world, even if only in our minds. Martijn, your creative mind and hands are never ending; your ideas begin in your mind and they each become beautiful! Thank you for sharing with us! You bring such beauty and calm into my life. God placed you, as He did us all, on this earth for a purpose. You, Martijn, have found your purpose and you are touching many people with your life. Your calm, humble, respectful life to nature and other people is reaching so many people. Now it’s our place to glean from it all and learn. The people in this world need to become calm and live in peace. You are a living example of how we can do this. Thank you. Take care and see you next week. 💚 from Texas

The cabin is looking so cozy despite the remaining work you plan. The vented floor plank for a thermal dryer was priceless! Yes, we get the overall impression of your being well-tuned to beauty and the living space is developing so well within your environment and also for your artistic needs and well-being. Thanks again for sharing.

You can make a rod pocket on the bottom of the under sink curtain and run a dowel through to connect on either side of the bottom of the sink cabinet and that will hold the curtain neatly in place. In that case I’d split the curtain so you can access under the sink through the middle. This is how we do it in the American South. Except we leave a little underneath the bottom rod pocket to make a ruffle. You can leave that part off if you want…you don’t strike me as a ruffle guy.

When I saw you walk out of the workshop with a sewing machine, and then an ironing board and iron - it was as if you had conjured them out of a magician's hat! I should not have been surprised that you could sew (both of my sons can do this) but in your location and conditions is what surprised me. Now I want to take my sewing outdoors! And yes, making a place to dry laundry above the wood furnace is just right. Thank you again for a beautiful and thoughtful video.
