I completely agree with all of your tips, except not drinking from water bottles. My rabbit is physically trained to drink from a water bottle, and she is already 3 1\2 years old. The only thing that I don't like is people out water into the bottle and leave it until it runs out, and then bacteria can form and make your rabbit sick. Have a great day!

I personally use a water bottle and bowl. No matter where in her cage or room (I need to have atleast one in the cage in case my dad needs to use the room for something else) she will mess it up filling it with hay and poop. With the part that you said about not getting enough water she has a half gallon bottle with nozzle that is suitable for large rabbits too and I've even seen a very alike bottle used for a dog (the dog was a model so she couldn't get too much water on her fur) In the start she didn't even know how to use a bottle but now she has one bowl outside in her room and a bowl that I fill a little when the vacuum seal is setting up in the bottle so she has some available.

I’ve said this before on different rabbit videos, but often times rabbits may prefer drinking out of a water bottle and they can drink perfectly from them. There is a rabbit at my work who can drink nearly an entire bottle in a day and that gets refilled before we leave. As long as you make sure that it is definitely functioning properly then they can be perfect for them

My rabbit needs a water bottle because if he doesn't have food he will throw any bowl he has around so I don't want to have to take him out of the cage and mop up all the water up because he has a big cage in my house, I'm 9 and he is technically my rabbit so cleaning his water up and cleaning his cage up is to much at a time and I clean the water bottle out with soap and water and rinse it out daily when I change his water so that's why I prefer a water bottle for my rabbit.

My family and I have had rabbits for 24 years. Every single one was with a bottle...and only had to train one to drink from a bottle. They don't get sick from bottles, which we honestly don't clean or disinfect...obviously we do if we get a new bunny after one has died. We've had rabbits live avg. 8-13 years. One could've lived longer than 13, but she was so blind she'd run full force into hard furniture or walls. That's the only reason we had to finally put her down at the vet's agreement. And she was a bunny in the era of those bad wire cages before the nice ones now. Lived 13 years like that. She was a gem. Exotic vets have also told us that veggies, esp lettuce, should be a rare treat, not a regular diet staple. Dont need diarrhea and GI Stasis...which I had to research through medical studies on bunnies and do the vet's job for them, much like my own decades long rare intractable health problems, but I digress. And even the few times we've given greens in moderation as a treat, major diarrhea insues. Special occasion treats are very small bite size fresh fruit of blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, small apple slices, and the crowd favorite and twitching inducing banana slice. (My favourite bunny, Ms. Mustache, would twitch like crazy for apples, strawberries, and practically convulse twitch with joy for bananas.) Couple of baby carrots and little parsley. Along with rabbit safe approved treats and special rabbit dietary pellets. (I was studying to be a human nutritionist so I read all the percentages for crude fat, protein, etc. It's a little more complicated figuring out a high performance showjumping horses diet: nutrients, fat, protein---pellets and different mixtures of hay, and infinite supplements!)
@tishslack10893 ай бұрын
I feed my rabbits kale,parsley, mixed leaves, a few blueberries , couple of slices of apple or carrots. Daily. They have no problems pooping. In the mornings get pellets and I hydrated apples so they get some of those. I’ve had them for several years and are very healthy.
@jameskim77497 жыл бұрын
Hi, i need help plz. My rabbits will just not eat hay no matter what i try. I think part of the reason is because they are addicted to pellets and rolled oats (my mum loves feeding them to the bunnies no matter HOW many times i tell her not to), I have limited their pellets and oats so that they get barley half/a quarter of a cup (or even less). I give my bunnies backyard grass (different sorts and varieties) of grass and also use half of the amount i have to turn into hay. but they will just not eat the hay no matter what. They refuse to eat anything apart from grass or the pellets.oats i give them (which is VERY LITTLE). I have also tried to slowly introduce hay which did not work. PLZ HELP!!! (btw i cannot afford botanical hay as i live in Australia and things are very pricey)
@DrDeliciou7 жыл бұрын
James Kim Hmmm it sounds like they don't like whatever kind of hay you have. Maybe try a few different kinds to see which one they prefer. Also you can put it in a hay rack as well as in toys for them to get used to it.
@alexac27467 жыл бұрын

@amyj96297 жыл бұрын
I would try some different kinds of hay, orchard, timothy, alfalfa. Put some in a toy or if they'll eat grass maybe try mixing grass into the hay. I'd give them less pellets and oats so that they don't have a choice and so they have to eat the hay. Maybe go to a forum and ask the same question, it might be better than asking people on KZbin xD. I hope I helped and good luck!
@Insomniac19857 жыл бұрын
James Kim I have found a way to trick my rabbits in to eating hay, so one thing I tried was getting herbal forage and mixing that in with the hay so it smells like basil which rabbits love. Another thing is grating carrot and mixing it with the hay. And finally pressing an apple and straying apple juice on to some hay and mixing it in with normal hay

Blue Diamond try putting him down for playtime and just sit there,read a book watch a video do anything .your rabbit will smell you and get used to your scent. I know how it's sad when they ignore you I'm going through the same thing. But the sitting down thing helped us bond.
@千百合-v3l7 жыл бұрын
if your rabbit like pellets cut the amount you put in his bowl in half, better yet don't put any. when you put him down for play time scatter the pellets that he is normally given around you or put it next to you.
@yournightmare81847 жыл бұрын
My advice (It might not work though, plus this task my take even months or more for your rabbit to get used to) : Okay so try to get in his cage or whatever he is in at the moment and then camly sit down in a corner. The rabbit will have no choice but too coperate with you. Do not freak out otherwise it will make the situastion much worse and then he might attack you at the very worst. Try to do something like watching tv or reading a book to make time pass by as you need to do this for a few hours. After however long it takes for your rabbit to get used to you it will then be happy and like you instead of just hating you.

I just watched a video by Howcast, bunny care and they advised changing the hay every other day to give the rabbit a chance to get to the more fibrous parts. They explain it br etter in their video, I just thought you might want to know. I like your videos and your rabbit.

I disagree with many things in this video. Many, and probably, most people have water bottles for. Rabbits. Mostly because they can't get dirty and they won't spill. My rabbits do totally fine and drink more than half a bottle a day. Also I think every rabbit should have pellets. I give them plenty hay but also give them pellets to eat to. Also giving greens everyday is also not always true. Giving them veggies is like giving a dog a bone, it is a treat. But great vid

Cheyenne The pellet thing was just one of her suggestions because not all bunnies can have them, as she said in the video Mocha has bad reactions to them :)
@Cheyenne-dy9gv7 жыл бұрын
Unicorngirl_ YT probably because it's the wrong kind of pellets
@adella93677 жыл бұрын
Cheyenne You obliviously DONT Know much about rabbit care. Rabbits SHOULD have veggies daily because it should be 10-15% of their diet. Also, Mocha has problems with digesting pellets even if she feeds the highest quality.
@sunshinebunnies68007 жыл бұрын
Cheyenne pellets give the bunnies more fat, hay helps minimize that

Bottles have the risk of jamming, a bowl is a safer and more natural method for them to drink. If the bowl gets dirty, clean it. It's quite simple. Veggies only as treats? Completely false. Veggies are an important aspect of a rabbit's DAILY dietary requirements.

I don't suggest it but if your bun refuses to drink from a bowl then you can put both in but a water bottle could give your bunny a head tilt

I’m eleven and I have four rabbits Theo,Clover,Casper,Harley and their all boys. Two mini lops and one Rex and one mini Rex. Thanks for telling me about their diet I always thought that two much veggies was too sugary and that two much hay was unhealthy. I give my rabbits 24 hours or exercise lol they basically own my room

You don’t have to use a bowl, most water bottles are bad but there are certain water bottles that give lots of water
