I don't usually like swearing in text, but sometimes it's the right language that counts: You fucking crazy bastard! You scared the living shit out of me with this one! Every time you wondered, "should I keep going or go back?" I was yelling at my screen, "GO BACK you Fucking crazy maniac! Get the fuck OUT now!" I didn't even think you should have gone past that first caved in bunch of timbers in this one... Jeebus Murphy man! Great videos, but stay alive dammit! Life's too precious to toss away for a u-tube audience.

It is simply amazing what people will do for money. Hard to comprehend the amount of work it must have taken back then to tunnel all that rock. Your video brought back some memories of a mine I explored in a similar way. Didn't want to go back the way I came and figured if I followed the mine tracks it would lead outside sooner or later. It finally did lead outside but the entrance had re-bar and fencing welded all over it to keep people from coming in. So much like you I had to go back the entire way.

I was watching your livestream the other day and regretted not asking which of your mine videos you'd recommend as like the "must see" feature. I don't know if the Rabbit's Paw would even be near the top of your list, but this one definitely has a compelling mix of ever-present dangers and obstacles the brave explorer is having to battle through in order to reveal and document an interesting mine loaded with lots of artifacts. Hats off to you for this one, truly an adventure.

Dangerous, crumbling and unstable by the looks of it. I'll stick my neck out on this one and say that I am sure no one will explore this mine ever again, but you have recorded as much as possible for posterity now. And it's fascinating to see a real old mine like this, but I reckon it'll major collapse sooner or later and will then be gone forever. Good job. Cheers

Dangerous and cool, definitely right call to turn around. Not sure if you do, but carrying some sealed rations encase you get stuck would be a good idea. Also consider some chalk to chalk the walls as you go through different areas of the mine. Chalk washes off pretty easily so I don't think it would be that intrusive and would be very helpful for complicated mines like this in order to find your way around.

Holy frijole, Frank! This one required popcorn AND fresh coffee. The Rabbit's Paw is, for sure, a seasoned explorer's (& armchair adventuror's) motherlode! That said, in situations like this, the certainty that u are well-acquainted w/the phrase, "know thyself," is no small comfort. Altho yr new ladylove prob would appreciate being gifted w/one of yr hard-won prizes, I've the feeling she'd much rather simply have u return come journey's end, & therefore would happily accept any of those other boxes requiring less risk of life & limb to procure, so, wise move - & cool u've found a fellow exploring enthusiast to share adventures with.

Man Frank, that is the scariest situation I have ever seen in a video. The only way I think you could gone out the lower way is if you had hip waders, but that is a stretch because that water probably when to the ceiling, and the portal on the outside is collapsed and water was running out a little hole in the ground or it was a damed section. Either way, you did see some cool stuff and I can say you have some balls for do in it. Great video and glad you got out.
@exploringabandonedmines6 жыл бұрын
It is hard to say I could have just went around the corner and found a dam from a collapsed ore chute, but I thought it was too risky to carry on. Better to err on the side of caution.
@masterbower60836 жыл бұрын
I definitely agree. Before I was borne back in 2002, the Quecreek coal mine broke through to a lake that was above them and the mine got suck for at least 3 days. They were in the same situation that you were in at that bottom level. My dad told me stories how he had to help them get the replacement drill head to them when the truck got stuck on the Pennsylvania turnpike. Kinda messed up but at least they got out.

Dangerous, scary, nerve wracking, not for the faint hearted, I could only watch it to the end because I knew you must have eventually made it out safe and sound. Well there sure was a lot or timber in there, some of it looked reasonably strong but some of it looked like it wasn’t in a condition to support anything anymore, glad that you took your time so as not to disturb anything. It was interesting to see how far it went in after you got beyond those 2 joined barrels as I didn’t think you would be able to get much further. Well said Frank - discretion is definitely the better part of valour. The carts were cool. Wow, what a find the carbide lamp was, I think that shows that the only person who has ventured in to that area since it closed is you. I have bitten my nails to the quick watching this episode. I know you must have been very tired after that long, long journey but so glad you turned back, choosing to leave the way you entered. Haha, man, this reminds me a lot of some of the worst mines we have been through... Usually we encounter one or two of those situations at a time though - not all of them in one mine as you did! How many levels do you think you dropped through from beginning to end? I lost count. Anyway, that was a great explore. It is a good thing you got to this one when you did because it won't be accessible for much longer.

I don't know it is hard to say there were so many.........seven or eight at least. I thing it was several mines as well!

Frank -- Great explore , lots of neat old equipment . Just out of curiosity , from your turn-around point , how long did it take you to get back out to the surface ?

Hard to say I don't wear a watch.........maybe close to two hours. It seemed worse than it was at the time I didn't want to squeeze through some tight spots, climb steep areas and wade through more deep water!

I don't know how you kept it together at the end there. That's the most rattled I've seen you in any of your videos. I got lost just watching you.
