I haven't played 1066 until just last week, and I'm surprised I never even heard of it back when I used to play tons of flash games. It's one of the greatest military strategy flash games I've ever played, highly recommend it.

I still get amused when my cavalry routs after an excellent charge. >Archers and Taunt Spam >Spearmen Spam >Elite units only >Playing nob war the elves to get more action. I really wish there was like a grand strategy aspect to this game, more units and more factions. I really like the simple art style.

Look how ahead of time this game was both in graphic, animation, and gameplay. Sure it is not today standard but the fun is what beat those modern generic games. Some very talented people made this game for sure!

One of my great regrets of my childhood and teen years was not playing more multiplayer of this game. I only ever got one match, and it was a bloody brawl to the finish. I hope the other guy enjoyed that game as much as I did.

I remember a game similiarly built like this one, but instead it was slightly more fantastical and I think it was available on ipad. For cavalry im pretty sure they were centaurs. The units sprites were usually black and white (white shields and weapons, black bodies.) If you wanted to spawn in a unit you had to use some points or currency of some sort, each higher or lower depending on the unit. When you spawn a unit in they would charge forward in a single file line fighting eachother one by one until the entire line died. The goal was to wipe out the generals bodyguard which consisted of heavy infantry spearmen with rectangular shields. It had a rock paper scissors type combat system if I recall correctly and you would have to spawn units to counter the enemies. I'm not sure if there was multiplayer but I'm certain it had single player capabilities. Another key detail was that the corpses of the fallen actually stayed where they fell instead of despawning like many other games.

i remember playing a medieval themed browser strategy game but i forget about it's name, it's kinda like puzzle game where u adjust your troops to make them beat the enemy like making your first line swordsmen to defeat pike/spear followed by archers for support, you gain equipment and soldiers through campaign and u specialize their equipments and formation , the formation i believe 10 rows with 10 lines or something like that but i do remember rows and lines exist but idk how many, i hope i find this game again one day

I remember smole me sucking at english and trying to figure out what the hell you were supposed to do. I remember the AI having overpowered taunting which could make almost full health unit flee back to their momma because the french knights just said their mother smelt of elderberry. I also remember me cheesing the game by maxing out on warrior on vikings, putting all of them on boar snout formation, fancy shield wall ya got here, it'd be a shame if someone rammed into it. Oi mate noice bow mind if i shank ya in melee cuz i've got like that many more knoife dudes than you do soldiers? Cavalry was a good counter, but yeah mass warrior in boar snout was the stuff.

i remember this game! such high quality and original mechanics for the time. it also tickles a niche interest i have for WEGO strategy games - "we-go" meaning that both players pre-plan moves then let everything resolve at the same time. Other examples include Diplomacy, Steambirds (another flash game), and Battlestar Galactica: Deadlock (on Steam). in my opinion they are a much better representation of tactics and warfare than TBS or RTS, but are sadly quite underexplored in modern gaming.

Fun fact: this gaming for the history and rts games like age of empires 4 the first Norman mission is the battle of hasting fell english and Norman into battle. The English no stand a chance against mighty of Norman led by king Williams. In Oct 14,1066 king Harold ruler of the England was killed after during 4th and last phase of the offensive after death of Harold. King Williams ruled over the England.
