Hello, is the best diving hand signal video i have ever seen, thanks for sharing.
@jima46565 жыл бұрын
Signals seem to vary a little from place to place. Thank you for sharing what you have seen. Deco is sometimes indicated by just the pinky & sometimes a pinky & a thumb. Some guys use different signals for numbers. Some guys have specific signals for different types of fish & other interesting sights.

The "This Level" sign (I'm guessing PADI or TDI/SDI?) is confusingly close to the BSAC "Out of Air" sign, which is moving the flat palm of your hand to and away from (not across, as in the PADI style) the neck. This is why I *really* feel dive training organisations should agree a global standard for hand signals.
@DiveCenterDailyLife5 жыл бұрын
Yes I agree. We need same standards of hand signals in any scuba federation.

Not really as out of air is done at your throat and level is in front of you.
@jeksewnoleeray10203 жыл бұрын
@@alanstevens949 yeah, when I'm doing the level signal I keep my hand well away from my throat to avoid any confusion, I've yet to see anyone mix the two up.
@alanstevens9493 жыл бұрын
@@jeksewnoleeray1020 Another point is if you are out of air you are grabbing and shaking your buddy as you are signaling.

Music is far too loud and does nothing but makes it hard to understand. Other than that, a very useful video.

Good vid, but for the sequel, since this is an instructional /learning video lose the cheesy music, it adds nothing and is distracting. # 2 back up the camera a bit so we can see all of his arms and hands.

It's funny, I've never used a lot of these but I've seen most of them in action. You tend to just understand what's being signalled, especially if the signaller is an expert.
@DiveCenterDailyLife3 жыл бұрын
Most of the signals are easy and intuitive. Most can be understood even when you see them for the first time. It is worth learning them to communicate with your buddy.
@peternulton21163 жыл бұрын
When I accidentally gave a diver I was working with "thumbs up" for a job well completed, she understood I wasn't signaling to surface. She later recommended that, to avoid that confusion, we add "jazz hands" to the dive vocabulary. It's better than "OK," it's "great job on the task." I'm sure there's a better signal.

In some videos, I have seen people use a hand signal where they stick both their thumb and pinky out, and rotate it back and forth. I never saw that one before, and I have been wondering what it means. .

Hi Illusion, good question. I have tried to do this hand signal but not sure if i got it right following your description. Have you got a link to some of these videos?

It means Shaka
@illusionclassicrock67424 жыл бұрын
Dive Center Daily Life well, found out it’s not actually a Scuba diving hand signal. It’s a Hawaiian/surfer sign called Shaka which means “hang loose” or “right on”. Guess it’s found its way into the underwater world as well. ;-)

I like to review this one every now and then. The sign for "Hundred" is the same sign i learned for "half tank" which is odd.
@aralverson4 жыл бұрын
That's likely because they use bar instead of psi, where a half tank would be 100 bar.

I was taught that the "time out" "T" signal means, "turn time" which is when you turn the drive around to start heading back. It's your 50% air time not including the 500psi safety.

Oh Please! You should be go to take class American Sign Language courses A.S.L is under the buoyancy communication gesture development if not, you check at National Technology Institute for the Deaf in Rochester, New York by Rochester Institute Technology . Most Deaf and Hearing student took American Sign Language class courses for PADI. The fact that American Sign Language (A.S.L.) is very easy communication hand gesture under the buoyancy more than talking anything which You can go in "Deaf Scuba" program in KZbin.
