Great video my friend, trying to play some catch up tonight. Must have been a challenge with the lose handle bars, luckily you know your way around lol. Meanwhile since I've got use to using the navigation system I like it on just to see where I'm at at times and see my speed. That was some heavy rain 🌧 you had there. Going to watch tonight's video now double feature night lol

Thanks Garry, the bike issues were a little upsetting but things happen. Like you, I mostly use the GPS to identify communities and roads up ahead. It makes video editing much easier if I can just mention areas without having to do voice overs later. The darn GPS system crashed just as I got into areas I didn't know. Thanks to Mark, Peter and Cooper everything worked out well. Then there was the rain and loose handlebars. A few miles and I was dry but the darn handlebars, that was another story. Since I got home, I have fixed the bike and will be doing a follow up video soon. Thanks for checking in my friend. I am also behind and have ween watching videos like crazy trying to catch up.

Excellent Pre-ride inspection Larry. What a nice time of day to start a fantastic ride with the brothers. You are right. Fun & fellowship is what it’s all about. Newfoundland is your homeland. What a wonderful journey & destination. To your steering bolt issue and Nav start up. It will have everyone looking at this and reporting on it. It really sucks. Even Honda’s armor can have a kink in it. A programmed torqued spec’d robotic shortfall or a manually attended Assembly line tech shortfall? Be nice to know what others have experienced. Thank you for creating awareness. Your bike & trailer has a visually appealing profile. Looking forward to the next chapters Larry!! Nice job my friend. Woohoo!

RG my friend, once again thanks for your support and great comment. The trip back home to Newfoundland is always a special one for me. Not only for my Homeland, but for visiting my family that still lives there. It was a joy to take my Goldwing there again and ride so many days with Peter, Mark and Cooper. We had so much fun and captured so many cool places on video. Much more to be posted in future videos. The bike issues suck, but are also a reality. No matter what the product, things will fail. We can only hope Honda will address such issues and prevent them in the future. Skychaser59 commented and shared information on how to reset the audio system. I followed the instructions and now my navigation is up and running again. Big thank you to skychaser59 for helping solve my navigation issue. What a great community of people we have here. Thanks again RG. Ride Safe.

Hey Bryan and Holly, I was also disappointed we were unable to connect. I never got to connect with anyone that I planned to. As things turned out, we were in total different areas. I got off the ferry in PAB, and spent two days in Rocky Harbour. The four of spent long days trying to visit as many places as possible. Then we visited areas across the island, depending on the rain direction. You know how that works. After finally getting to St. Johns and visiting family, I returned from Argentia. 24 hours on that boat was no fun. In the end, I made it back home again with a couple of bike issues. That is all part of the trip i guess. Thanks for checking out the video and I hope you guys have a great week agead.

Looking forward to seeing the trip videos! Might be time for a taller windshield eh? I bought a Tulsa brand tall/tinted windshield for my 1500 right after I purchased it back in 2000, but it appears Tulsa is no longer around. I'm sure there are other good brands out there now though. Well worth the learning curve of a tall windshield though, because mine at least will keep me almost completely dry in a rainstorm. Drips a little on my leg but that's it.

Hey there my friend thanks for checking out the video and sharing that information. Like you say, there are taller windshields in all shapes. In this video I never mentioned that the windshield was actually down for a couple of other reasons. Now that you mentioned it, I will put together a video and talk about it a little. I am happy you mentioned it and I have thought about making a video in the past but I never had weather conditions to explain what was going on. Thanks again and enjoy the rest of your week.

There are times when we make decisions that are not the correct one. This was a good example of that. After 18 days on the road I took a chance that I should never have taken. As it turned out, all was good, but things could easily have gone wrong. Today I made the necessary repairs to my bike and all is good again. I have started an update video which will be out shortly. Thanks for checking out the video and leaving a comment.

Hey there, thanks for checking in again. The handlebar issue sucks but I made it home safe, and that works for me. My bike is a 2021 and has no warranty left. When I returned home, I made a visit to my local dealer and they had nothing for me. There is no service letters on this issue and they have not seen it before. Surprise, surprise! Tomorrow I am planning to bring my bike to my work and have a better look at the situation. Being a Mechanic I have all the tools and service manual. Once I have a closer look I will see if I need to order parts or just torque up the stem nut. Either way, I will do a follow up video to talk about what I found. Thanks again and enjoy your weekend.

Beautiful ride! How did the bike do pulling the trailer? Did you learn anything new about pulling a trailer this trip ? Boy it would be great to join you one day on this trip. God Bless you Larry for spreading the joy with the kids, that must have been special for them. OMG that weather. How'd the camera's do ? Wow those handlebar's you could move the nut with your hands?
@goldwingmoments
@goldwingmoments 24 күн бұрын
Hey Robert my friend, thanks for checking in. The ride was amazing and the trailer handled like part of the bike. I had to keep checking to make sure it was still back there. Towing a trailer has it's own issues to think about and I did learn lots as the days passed. Once I get my bike repaired, I will make a video on what I learned and things I never thought about before setting out on my trip. Thanks to skychaser59 for sharing a fix for my navigation issues. His fix worked and the navigation is now working again. I am so happy about that. Our group drew attention from many people and it was fun to share a little fun with the children. The short time it took to talk to the kids with their family and let them sit on the bikes while taking pictures and video, made their day. We all left with smiles on our faces and another great memory. It also shows that we are just like everyone else, regular people that just happen to ride bikes and like to have a little fun. The weather was a mix of hot, cool, rain, wind and fog but I wouldn't want to change any of it. The cameras held up well but I nearly lost one a couple at times. After a couple of days messing with the AcePro, I gave up on the voice commands. If I had the camera working good, I would loose my phone and Android Auto. Then I would have to pair everything again. I was using the phone 1 and 2 setup but no real luck. No issues with cameras in the rain. The handlebar stem nut was loose and I could move it with my fingertips. Every stop I would tighten it the best I could and everything held to get me back home. Now I have to clean everything up and figure out where and how to repair my bike. You will be kept in the loop as I figure things out. Sorry about the long response, have a great week. Ride Safe.

You were really lucky not to have an accident with that loose steering head bearing nut
@goldwingmoments
@goldwingmoments 24 күн бұрын
You are correct Mike. I stopped every 20 minutes to inspect the nut and make confirm it was secure. The bars are on a spline so there was up and down movement. There is another double nut system with bearings just below that nut. Still didn't make me feel any better. As for now, no more riding until the bike is fixed. Thanks for watching.

The factory procedure for accessing the top crown nut according to the Honda service manual requires extensive disassembly. Not something you want a service tech who has never done this procedure to tackle. There is a short cut by Traxxion Dynamics. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rnjLl4xmnpqsn5osi=7YyKEJ6lgZSPl5bZ I know KW Honda ( Kitchener) services many Goldwings. You may want to shop around before deciding on who/where re-torques the top crown nut. I would show the service tech this video.
@goldwingmoments
@goldwingmoments 24 күн бұрын
Hey friend, thanks for watching the video and sharing that information with me. I have heard good things about KW Honda and have actually been in their store a couple of times. A phone call will be placed soon before I make a decision. I am also subscribed to the Traxxion Dynamics channel, so I will check into that video for sure. I just visited a local Honda Dealer and my bike is now out of warranty. There seems to be no service letters for this failure and this location has not seen this failure before. I do have a phone number for another person to contact tomorrow who deals with warranty claims and repairs, so we will see what happens there. Great information my friend.
