Custom Woolen Mills is a great place and lovely people to deal with as well. Make sure you check out there Wool Boutique. Also if you have time also in Carstairs on other side of QE2 is Pasu Sheep Farm another great place with a Wool Boutique, Resturant and raise PB North Countries. Safe travels and bring warm clothes as next week temperatures are dropping. Safe travels 😊

Sounds like your in Carstairs too, we are taking wool up on the 2nd to custom woolen mills, we will check out Pasu sheep as well, and if want can stop by, make it a day all about sheep.

@@The10AcreWoods we’re in Kneehill County just near Carbon, AB it’s on your way to Drumheller. We’re about 38 mins from Custom Woollen Mills.

Whew, at first glance I thought your title said you were going to “process sheep” - meaning your sheep were going to “freezer camp”😮 🤦🏼♀️ and not processing the sheep’s wool. I should have known better. 🥺😢😢😂😮🤪 Have a safe trip and a wonderful, Happy New Year! 🎆

You mentioned your local options don't process alpaca wool. I am curious what is different about how it is processed that a mill which processes sheep wool is not equipped to handle alpaca.
@Nakita106Ай бұрын
Tiana Here, the Daughter :) I Believe some Places don't like to Process Alpaca Fleece as it has no natural oil so the fiber is more prone to Static, where as sheep Fleece contains Lanolin. It is also not as forgiving in the spinning process as sheep Fiber, as it is more common for alpaca to pull apart and not hook together as well as sheep. then there is the added cost for processing facility's of cleaning the equipment when switching Between the types of Fleece and also adjusting the Equipment settings Between the types of Fleece.
@gingerfoxx1476Ай бұрын
@Nakita106 thanks, Tiana! I figured the lack of lanolin had something to do with it. I appreciate the insight. I love crochet and knitting so I'm always interested to learn more about the yarn fibers I enjoy.
