Perfect review. Calm voice, no nerving music, clear and fair results an a very good conclusion over the tests. I thought about change the wheels to 10" for a higher speed and smoother driving. I think now (also in case of battery-drain), that I will stay on 8.5. Because of the faster acceleration at 8.5, the higher speed at 10 is eaten. I'd like a more comfortable ride, but I live in high-regulating-Germany. The operating licence will get lost on 10" (also the insurance), and that means, the police will f.. me up. Your video (mostly your conclusions) let me stay at 8.5". Thank you very much Greetings from Bielefeld (espacially to Roskilde-Festival 😎🤟)

So I have a pro 2, and I imagine that the starting torque as well as the final speed is stronger than the m365, so what I can say is that if I bought a brand new pro2 scooter today, I would change it right away for a 10'' tire and I would sell the new originals, due to the fact that when these originals get punctured it is very difficult to change them, even some bike shops refuse to change them because of how hard it is to put these tires on and off, that's why a lot of people end up putting solid tires, but the 10'' tires are practically put on almost with your hands as they fit in loosely, and the scooter is super soft, it's really worth it.

Вася Штырьков how did it feel riding it? Does the scooter become like with solid tires?

VRMinde I upgraded to 10 inches my kugoo m2 pro. It has the same wheels as xiaomi m365 (all sizes and tires the same). I can only compare It with solid tires of kugoo s3. Inflatable tires even with 4.5 bar ofcourse better. I placed 10" tires to improve rolling => speed and energy spending, and comfort (standard 8 1/2 tires i used with 4.5 bar too). But i'm using 10" tires with nominal pressure 3.1 Bar. I dont know is it ok to inflate your nominal 2.5 bar tires to 4.5bar. It needs testing.
@Вася-ш3щ4 жыл бұрын

I don’t know exactly how the software and hardware of Xiaomi scooter works, but I have 2 assumptions: 1. The 25 km/h limit is not a physical limit of the motor or of the battery, it is just a limit imposed by the software in compliance with the EU rules. So the scooter probably can sustain on a flat terrain a speed of 30 km/h, without damaging the motor or the battery. 2. The controller most likely measures not the actual speed of the bike, but the speed of rotation of the motor wheel. And it multiplies its rpm with the known circumference of the wheel (8.5”x3.14). So, if you change the 8.5” tire with a 10” tire, you can trick the controller to think that the scooter is going 25 km/h, when it is actually going (10/8.5)x25, i.e. 29,4 km/h. So it should be possible this way to increase the maximum speed, without changing the settings of the controller and potentially without damaging the motor or the battery. Can you confirm of deny this hipothesis?
@VRMinde2 жыл бұрын
Yes you are correct. This is how it works with stock firmware. But, there are a few “buts”. 1. It is easier to change the firmware and get more speed than replacing the tires. 2. This logic works only up to some degree/speed. From let’s say 30km/h you can put any size whees the scooter won’t go faster as the next bottleneck is the battery pack.
@mirceacoliu55902 жыл бұрын
@@VRMinde Thank you. Yes, it should be easier to change the firmware, BUT: 1. I have poor IT skills, so for me it would be easier (though costlier) to just buy a 10” tire and ask a mechanic to make the change; 2. From what I read so far, changing the firmware messes up the regen and I LOVE to use the stock software regen setup to save brake pads and to control the speed when going downhill. Of course, if I could find a way to change the firmware without side effects, it would be great. By the way, some comments suggest that you can change in the software the settings of the wheel size, but I do not understand where and how. Another way to trick the controller would be to keep the physical size 8.5”, but to put in the software a size of 7”. This may again allow for a speed of 30 km/h, hopefully without messing with the regen, the cruise control or other issues.

I wonder though wouldn't you be better off using a tyre liner to protect your inner tubes, simply buy a tyre liner cut it to size and when something pierces your tyre it won't get past the liner which would protect your tubes. but also with regard to the suspension or lack of it with the 8.5 inch tyres why not simply buy a front suspension for the m365 it's not expensive and would solve your issue. The one thing that does make good sense to work on is the firmware, because the scooter is just too slow, it doesn't need to go fast just not so slow.

I’ve got a set of 10” tyres & a kit to raise the rear mudguard so am all ready to go but am putting it off because of all the negative stuff I’ve been hearing about removing the wheels/taking the tyres off etc. This video makes me a little more confident but still a rainy day project for me, I think.
@VRMinde4 жыл бұрын
Mick St I can understand :) The key 2 things to solve are: 1. Be sure the front tire fits under the fender/fender bolt. Some tire models are a bit taller and some scooters have tall headed bolt that might be needed to replace (I was lucky enough). 2. The rear light cable. It might be worth figuring out another route for it as the gap between the 10” tire and fender becomes tight enough 🙄 Removing tires and all the other things just takes some time. Take a long rainy saturday, get something to drink and you will make it :)

@VRMinde5 жыл бұрын
TRe' CooL “normal” algorithm controls the speed (limiter). Let’s say your max speed is set on 20km/h, half the trottle will set it on 10km/h. So you are controlling the speed, but not the power. The russian one - controls the power, not the speed. Max trottle - max power despite of what speed are you going now. Half trottle - half power, etc. I hope I could explain it :D
@jancko9955 жыл бұрын
@@VRMinde tnx, i thought that too. Ist this better than controling speed? Much more smother accelarations?
@VRMinde5 жыл бұрын
TRe' CooL as sometimes I ride with other people - it is cool to set up constant speed to have a chat while riding. Russian algorithm is great if you, lets say, have custom firmware with a very low power constant (lots of power). Then you can control it yourself to avoid overheating/burning of battery or the motor. If you do it with the speed limiter - it might run 100% of power until it reaches the desired speed and burn something. Also you might have very smooth usage of the battery, while your speed will varry. At the end it is what you are used to :)

so if I understood right if you hack firmware 10' becomes shit, but if you use default like normal person you gain speed, battery life and distance.
@barenekid96954 жыл бұрын
Why do you think it becomes shit ? FirmWare sees speed as wheel RPM Larger diameter wheel (tire) means it can cover more distance per rotation... ie go faster. And unless you've altered the FW for the larger diameter wheel then it will be faster top speed but the speedo will be inaccurate. 10" tire will reduce accel a bit.. but then that's why we Hack the FW :-)
@VRMinde4 жыл бұрын
If you hack the firmware, you get more riding comfort and loose acceleration and some range from a charge. If you don’t hack it you gain max speed and you gain some riding comfort. I assume you will also loose some range, but I did not test it too much to be firm on this 🙄

@@VRMinde I just dont care to change FW (for me just irrelevant), but bigger wheel means longer distance and faster ride for the same amount of battery consumption, only apps gonna show wrong distance and speed (whats not important at all) the biggest problem for now have been changing tire, originals I tried few hours and failed, its impossible, now I got tinyurl.com/rjfberd (but performance fall is too noticeable, but at least I could get them on plus puncture resistance was important, where I live its easy to puncture tire after each 200m) Im thinking to upgrade only front wheel to 10'' (tinyurl.com/sxzah6f) just wondering how hard installation is compared to originals

Slime is a waste of time. It works best in warm/hot climate conditions and can only take a small pin prick puncture. Anything bigger like a cut or nail and sealing is less effective. Slime tyre-liner is more effective but harder install because of the oily substance that makes it easier to push into the tyre with slightly inflated inner tube. I use Gorilla tape with Slime tyre-liner combo. Easier to install into 10" tyre over 8.5". Running a pair of Decent 10.2" escooter tyres on my Xiaomi 10" tyre is easier installation, better road comfort and grip. As for modifying scooter through the app, I wouldn't bother. I'd rather have the maximum range with the 10" tyre at 15.5mph over higher speed, and increase battery drain over its lifetime.
@VRMinde2 жыл бұрын
True all that. Actually with the 10” tyre I got way less punctures as well. Probably related less to the size than to the tyre quality :)
@millsshumps19682 жыл бұрын
@@VRMinde 10.2" tyre is less likely to pinch-flat, or damage inner tube over its lifetime. But in wet climate conditions the tyre can still cut or prone to pin prick puncture because the tyre compound and tyre wall inner thickness is the same as the 8.5" tyre. I just wiped off the oily substance on my slime tyre-liner and use gel superglue to carefully install the liner in place and cut off excess. Then add one layer of Gorilla tape over to reduce any chance of the tyre liner edges to cut the inner tube over time. But slime tyre-liner is very smooth and flexible yet tough. The compound used for Schwalbe Marathon Plus tyres would be the ultimate fit and forget tyre for scooters. But they don't make 10" tyres.

Yes, if you roll down the huge mountain :) To reach the 35km/h on a flat road you will most probably need to overvolt your system with 48V battery or something like that. If you are really light-weight and go for something like 25000 motor power constant, you might reach the 35, but I do not recommend to keep it as something will most definitely overheat/burn. I did a test with the double battery yesterday and with 30k power constant I could maintain around 31km/h while the battery was full and there was no big wind in my face.
