100% more podcasts with Jerry Miculek, and Lena too if she’s not too busy competing. Between the two of them, despite her relatively young age, those two people have forgotten already more than most humans in history have ever or will ever learn about shooting.

The comment about doing no useless movement to be fast with jerry is also true in many sports, i compete in strongman as an amateur and you see the same thing in every rep or speed events we do, I also find that being precise and efficient in your movement result in higher speed than trying to go fast which often results in doing mistakes

The most memorable moment at PASAS Park, the Masters tournament, was at practice when Jerry watched and coached me. The words were precious, " All you have to do is practice, practice, practice!" I had a full time job, wife, and kids and could only get about .33 percent of the practice the I knew Jerry would suggest. However even that amount has enabled me to start or encourge many other shooters. Trickle down I guess.

Absolutely have Jerry on as much as he’s willing! I think we would have to be stupid to not want to take in any wisdom he’s willing to share! And I know he would draw, fire, re-holster, and be kicking back before I could start to move to draw! I’m not delusional after all! 😂 Thank you for another great “10 minute talk” gentlemen. Best wishes to you and your family’s everyone. ✌️🇺🇸

260 Remington is such a great cartridge, I shoot 1:10 twist and have never had a problem, up to 140 gr projectiles, I own 3 260 rifles, 2 are non production rifles. All 3 shoot excellent, 1 is a 3/8 moa rifle, the other 2 are 3/4 and better

The 6.5 Creed Life Hack is really just figuring out the “speed drop factor” for your gun and cartridge. Works surprisingly well for a bunch of calibers. I’ve done this for rifles from 223, 6.5 Grendel, and 308. You just have to run the numbers and see what margin of error you can tolerate and what distance range you can apply it to. For hunters you can get this to work with a lot of calibers out to 400 or 500 yards with only an inch or two of error.

I have a bunch of favorite podcasts, whether full length or 10 minute talk. Choosing the right scope for the job. The episode talking about snacks on the way to the hunting spot. The zeroing thing, as well. I went back and forth on the 50 yard zero, as well. With the .308 ammo I have, a 50 yard zero is redundant at approximately 200 yards. But the reason I don't use that is because it is allowing some error into the system. Because the system being rifle and shooter at best could be 1 MOA in a hunting situation, stacking the 1 MOA dispersion on with the arc of flight in the 200 yard zero could introduce enough error to either miss or wound the animal. Which became moot once I began to understand and use the zero angle solution in the Hornady 4DOF. Then, it does not matter where or what you are shooting at, you can dial a solution for what you need or hold over.

you really ought to consider a 10 minute talk with Jerry about anticipation or "flinching". It really is amazing to see how unphased that man is by shooting hard hitting recoil calibers at high rates of speed.

It's shocking how little history of arms is known by the young generation. History, experience, and practical application... no wonder the industry now is concerned new cartridges and development instead of supplying the already existing needs. I remember a quarter of a century ago reading gun bibles and easy memory, also learning gun development history... the oldest shooters alive today did the same.... but not this generation.... keep in mind this is their job and 1 out of 3 knows anything... imagine throwing one of those 2 into a gunsmith job... the future is bleek indeed...

ZERO at 200... heres why. MOST (most) rifles will be within (within) 2 inch high at 100 if zeroed at 200, so dont need to worry about shooting something at 100 with 200 yd zero. and your drop at range will be less with a 200 zero, also with a 200 zero you can make your rifle more accurate on target, what i mean is if 100 yard zero you think your on the bullseye but then go out to 200 and your an inch to the left, so if 200 zero and really put it on zero your more accurate at range
@jaydunbar7538
@jaydunbar7538 7 ай бұрын
That depends on your scope and purpose, if your reticle has pre calibrated drops marks then following the zeroing instructions for the scope will offer the most functionality. If your dialing for range then a 100 yard zero is also preferred by most. As far as a point and shoot maximum point blank range yes a few inches high at 100 is a good starting point for most center fire rifles. As far as it being a better zero that’s a simple matter of confirming zero at range as you should be doing before shooting at game at longer ranges no matter what the zero distance is. I’ve got rifles set for 25y, 50y, 100y, and 225y to fit different use cases. My 22 LRs are 25y, few lever actions at 50 for the thick woods of northern MN, my 270win is at 225 for a maximum point blank range over 300y as a general purpose rifle, everything else is 100y because either that’s the farthest I’ll shoot those rifles or because they have scopes with zero stops.
@jjgriffin3275

@@jaydunbar7538 thats why i said MOST rifles, cmon man, obviously not 22s or levers, real bolt rifles using real normal calibers such as 243, 270, 3006, 308, 300. you missed the purpose of WHY i stated, for better accuracy if you zero at 100 you could be 3 inches left at 200, but if you zero at 200 and hitting bullseye, your more accuratly dialed in. the other purpose is drop is less when zeroed at 200, put it into any ballistic calculator and your drop will be less using a 200 zero vs 100. i did not say that for max point blank range, i said that for 2 things, 1-your hold over is not as much and 2-when dialing your scope you dont have to dial as much. with a 200 zero, when shooting at 100 you can hold point blank and hit being only about 1.5 in high, if you have a 100 zero you might be 4 inch low and maybe not shooting point blank and have to do a hold over. with a 200 zero 400 yd target drop is 21 inch but with a 100 zero drop at 400 might be 28 in. so at 400 7 inch difference could be huge. so with a 200 zero you will be better sighted in and more accurate shooting but also have less drop and dial less hold over less. AGAIN thats MOST hunting bolt rifles NOT 22s and 44mag and 3030. Perfect what you did having you specific rifles zeroed for its purpose, ya 22 at 50 is what i would do, 3030 at 100, 44mag at 50, 243 and bigger at 200. Hornady 4DOF App is free and gives you great info, if you havent used it i highly suggest

@@jjgriffin3275I didn’t miss the purpose at all, and what your describing with half a paragraph in there is maximum point blank range regardless if you want to call it that or not. Yes if your zeroed for a maximum point blank range it will reduce your dial at extended ranges when compared to a 100 yard zero. If my target is far enough away that I’m dialing, I’m not worried about if it has a few extra clicks needed between zero distances. Yes I agree zero should be checked at a longer distance I’m not disagreeing with that at all so I’m not sure why you think I am, but it should be checked at the longest distance you can check it at and if that’s 200 then so be it.

This comment has nothing to do with this podcast. What it is about is your ridiculously high annual price hike. Viper PST GEN2 2 wks ago msrp $1399, this week $1650 msrp. I understand annually increases but seriously 22 to 23%! That's a little steep. I hope customer's pay attention and your sales tank!!!!
