Shane sometimes never uses his break but opts to his playing cue with his extension to break. Do why but he still gets that amazing break as always. Probably the best breaker in the world in terms of consistency and his technique is just amazing

very nice. Shane is so amazing, my pool hero. And I always enjoy listening to Rico explain through everything, great commentary without making it all about himself, as some do. Also, I’m older and I don’t hear real well, but Rico’s voice is so clear and understandable. I know that doesn’t sound like much, but when I can understand him without captions… that’s a huge win for me and I greatly appreciate it. There are other commentators with similar speech quality, Mark Wilson is another one of my favorite commentators, plus several others. But Rico is one of the best. :D

It's not the cue. The difference between Shane and the rest of the us - he hits where he aims.

What's really impressive outside of the results is how hard and fast he's hitting the balls while appearing to put little effort into hitting them

I wish I could see his bridge hand better or have a view from behind to see where he is contacting the cue ball.

The bridge hand is elevated while the aim is low, but he's actually contacting the ball just above center. It's hard to tell because of how quickly it happens but on side views of his breaks (if you slow down the video and can pause it at the right moment) you can see that he contacts the ball with a nearly perfectly level cue in that spot. The low aim is to compensate for the elbow dropping and slight body lift, which is what gives the hit its force without swinging very hard.

I wonder if Shane has different tips on his break cue shafts?

At Derby City Classic 10ball '22 - SVB against Shaw they show the break speeds. SVB's break speed was between 22 and 23 mph while Jayson broke around 17 mph. I think that break speed here is an important factor. Ko's try seems more around 17 mph imho.

Depends on the game and what they're intentions are. In 9-ball, you don't need a big break, you really just want to make a wing ball and have position on the 1. I've seen Shaw bump it up to 25 mph before, but there's no need to if you're getting the result from the break that you want at a much lower and controlled speed. What makes Shane special is he controls the cue ball even at high speeds.

Did they make a compilation of him breaking bc of his misfortunate breaking at the recent event?? Kinda like a reminder every dog has its day

You can see how he kinda backed off about half way through this countdown. I’m wondering why 🤷🏽‍♂️. Maybe his arm was tired

Is there a break strategy to hitting the cue with lots of power and topspin so that it jumps up after hitting the lead ball, breaks the rack, then lands back down on the table with so much topspin that it runs back through the group? Is that a thing or not?
