This was one of the nicest most productive examples of coaching that I've ever seen. The fact that this is a roast but still clearly helpful is amazing. Many other coaches wouldn't have bothered to explain such compassionately delivered detail to this player who is clearly unaware of his mistakes and has very selective memory and rose coloured glasses. Amazing stuff Zach, you're the best in the business.
In all these dota coaching series I've seen, I've never seen someone get roasted so badly. Great video

Match Id : 7160495325 Was playing DK Bit of a backstory: I used to play dota a shit ton back in the day. I quit for a while because I got in a really toxic loop of blaming my team and inhaling the copium while hardstuck around 1k mmr. Since getting back into the game ive been actively trying a lot more than I ever did to shut that shit down because I do understand that it doesnt benefit anyone being toxic and at the end of the day were all just playing a game. I have been climbing with this new outlook, in the past couple of weeks I ranked in at around 2.2k and have been climbing up at around 2.7k now. Been watching a lot more positive dota content, you Bsj and speed are some of the main few. Its really changed my outlook on the game and im actually enjoying climbing the ladder. In this game my omniknight and lycan just felt absolutley useless once it got to the mid to late game and I could tell I lost a lot of my focus after that but even when reviewing my replays of games like this im not sure what I could have done differently. I would love to get roasted in one of these vids to kick some sense into me. Feel like being shown how to win a game like this could finally stomp out that toxic gremlin in the back of my mind. TLDR; Reformed toxic player trying not to blame his team but also really wants to blame his team.🙃 Be as rude as you want, I can take it. Everyone needs some tough love. Also I gotta say I am loving these vids so much, perfect balance of gameplay insight and keeping it fun the entire time, keep up the great content man.

Yeah that explains the rhythm and tempo aspect that I might be doubtful of in my own games. I play support, and didn't really know the builds or base ideas what to do for builds, but his video going through and through the thought process of it just makes it clear, and I just feel like I should have come up with that myself. I don't know, but maybe it's the times past that how I played then that wanted to hold on. Builds and strategies are the ones I'm not really able to reach to, because I'm stuck with the very basic function of supporting.

I'm also in Crusader and it seems like most players are 'coinflip' players. They'll take the high-variance 50-50 every single time, no matter if they're ahead or behind, no matter what other options there are. Since they got the outplay and won their 50-50 yesterday, they're not thinking about whether the play is actually likely or supposed to work before they do it.

I'm a Pudge spammer and I only go 1 - 4 - 4 build cuz hook range is the same and costs a lot of mana which is pretty low for Pudge. Rot and Flesh heap combo deals so much damage when you just run on them. To all the Pudge players, please don't just sit in a lane waiting forever to hook and then just to miss it, but rather run on them with your W and E which can win you the lane. If you think your lane is decent and no one can kill each other, try hooking the big camp creeps whenever your hook is off cooldown for more xp and gold.

Really good (and hilarious) commentary about the decision making here! If I may ask, regarding pudge's gameplay at around 10:00 into the video, hypothetically if he did go and kill the large camp in his triangle to finish aghs, what should he do at that point? He's probably still low health at that point, so would you recommend walking to base to regen and then tping out, or something else?
@Juncboks Жыл бұрын
His ult would be off cool down and could use it on a creep the fully recover his hp. No base tp needed
@chen_h310 ай бұрын
He only need a large camp creep to get this gold. Sell oov since it upgrades to nothing (125 gold) and sell windlance since hes not buying eul (110 gold) these 2 items alone should give him enough or almost enough gold to finish his agh.
@diegogoulart8735 Жыл бұрын
For core pudge I dont like soul ring because when you have vanguard you farm the whole camp instead of 1 creep also saving more mana. As well on mid pudge I would go bottle which gives mana and hp for a cheaper price

When i played poker professionally, there were bad players who lost money and quit and there were bad players like this guy who played thousands of games and refuse to admit he sucks. I thank them because they made me so much money. THe world is full of these people. They are actually everywhere.
@ChBoler Жыл бұрын
I wanted to pick your brain on the suggested build a bit if that's okay? I'm not a "my team sucks so bad" player, but am a 55% winrate Archon pudge that goes Tranq + Soulring every game, even when I'm mid. I have the following counterarguments to the phase/vanguard build and want you to sell me on it! (I have tried both builds): - Phase + Vanguard costs 3200, whereas Tranq/Soul costs 1780. This lets you get online faster, and also gives you a stronger start because you can start with wind lace and gauntlets for bonus strength and a potential rot first blood. - Pudge has an awful mana pool that makes using hook as a farming tool hard without soul ring. Every game I've tried the vanguard build I've had to ferry clarities constantly, adding to the builds cost. - I don't personally like/make aghs, and don't need flesh heap to survive rot as a result. Instead I prefer making either Radiance (only 500 more than aghs, and doesn't revolve around the flesh heap cooldown) or survivability (armor/pipe/heart) depending on the game. I've also been experimenting with harpoon this patch, but am not sure how I feel about it yet - I still max rot first, but Meat Hook does Pure damage, so the +70 per level goes farther than it looks imho and is about +90 per level if converted to magic damage. Hopefully this isn't coming off as too argumentative! Pudge is a hero I enjoy a ton and I want to do better on it if I can, but the few times I've tried the vanguard/phase build I just haven't been impressed so I'm assuming there's something I'm missing, and wanted to give an accurate writeup of why I haven't had much luck with it personally.
@ZQuixotix Жыл бұрын
Don't worry, I appreciate the discussion! Hook for farming is good, but if you think about it, Pudge is still going to kill the rest of the camp most of the time. Rot is AoE so you just attack the strongest creep and all of them die at the same time. I think Hook to steal random enemy creeps as you move through the map is fine, but a lot of Pudge's actual farming is done through Rot. The Flesh Heap protects you from rot, then in the next camp when it's on CD, the Vanguard protects you from creep damage and also regens you. Next camp Flesh Heap is up again. Then Phase Boots bring you to the next camp (or gank) faster. Tranquils would be constantly breaking between all of these camps or in the laning stage. I wouldn't mind seeing Bottle or Soul Ring mixed in, but I think for many Pudge mids that I see, it's about hitting a really fast Aghs timing along with levels and THEN you actually start thinking more about kills (which is when Hook and Ult start eating into mana more, but you have some Aghs stats to help). The damage is ridiculous at that stage of the game and speeds up farming as well. I think Hook just lets you set up kills, but that the damage is unnecessary with early Aghs (It would be 210 extra pure damage which is a little more than 1 sec of Aghs Rot). Radiance build up is pretty slow for Pudge. It's less DPS than Aghs AND it doesn't provide regen reduction OR increase the AOE of Rot. Pudge doesn't really need attack damage, though the evasion is fairly nice. Survivability is fine with me as an alternative to Aghs if you're playing more utility for the team.

Pudge doesn't have the innate toolkit to hard carry. Not having high DPS is fine, but it means you need to deal good AoE for pushing and fights in order to help close out games. Pudge doesn't do much of that either, so he needs to build items for it or just become so tanky that the enemy team can't deal with him. That said, who starts Orb of Venom on Pudge lol
