I appreciate that you give the numbers of speed that you use on your mixer. I always get so confused when people say “low”, “medium”, and “high”, because that could mean different things to different people. Having the exact number to set the dial on a super helpful! Thank you!

Mocha is really good! I add a little bit of cocoa and espresso powder to regular vanilla buttercream...yum! Of course Oreo cookies is a good one too, to make a cookies and cream buttercream. Thank you for the video!

I do this exact same thing with my basic buttercream. I add coffee, peanut butter, spice... I too use the sleeves of raspberry, strawberry or blueberry to make flavored buttercream. In addition to this sometimes I will add some Loranns emulsions in those flavors, just to take the flavor up another notch. Lol

Cinnamon does taste delicious in frosting! My daughter likes to make churro cupcakes and the frosting is cream cheese with some cinnamon mixed in. She then sprinkles cinnamon sugar over the frosted cupcake and she always gets rave reviews!

I just used your recipe yesterday, wedding bouquet,lemon packet(true lemon a must) dehydrated raspberries and let me tell you my husband absolutely loved it. Of course I used wedding bouquet in the cake as well. Thank you again for the recipe. Btw check out the true lemon packet they give the best lemon and lime flavors to ever.

@@softballmom332 true lemon is dry lemon crystals, they come in a box with several small packets. I have them in water or tea for a burst of lemon flavor. They're portable so you can carry them around in your purse. They're sugar free.

COFFEE/MOCHA!!! My Mom always made my birthday cake (she was a chef)... it was a chocolate mocha cake... chocolate cake, chocolate buttercream frosting with coffee flavored buttercream piping outlining the cake! Her inspiration was a Christmas log cake she once made....also can be decorated with slivered almonds and Maraschino cherries.... It became her signature cake! All of my friends commissioned her to make that cake for their wedding cakes and birthday cakes!! I've been cooking and baking so much lately that I can now make it and many other delicious foods for my Mother as I care for her... as she did me!

@@KarolynsKakes she used instant coffee...making a lil slur with it instead of a whole cup of coffee...It was sooooooo delish!! And btw I always loved when she added the almonds and cherries, that was usually a treat because she didn't always do that! Somehow it just elevates the cake!

Have you tried the lotus speculoos cookie butter spread in the buttercream for that spicy cinamon flavour. I'm sure you know about crushed Oreos. Then there's Nutella too

I was wondering, do you also use the fruit flavors straight from the sleeve as a filling or do you always add them to buttercream? I really respect your techniques and was wondering if straight fruit filling would change how you construct and store the tiers.

Hi Amber! Yes I do! If I just use the sleeve fillings, I will pipe a stiffened buttercream dam around each layer to keep it from seeping out of the sides.

I personally don't make vanilla cream filling or whipped cream frosting. But you can absolutely add these flavors to those! And I've never gotten a request to make champagne flavored cake, so I also don't have a recipe for that. I would say they can be frozen for up to 3 months. Thaw in the fridge overnight, then thaw at room temp for about an hour. Remix it and it should be good!

I love this video!! Do you know if you can freeze the shortening? I used to use this when I could buy it locally. I'd love to use it again however I don't go through as much anymore and would like to freeze it if possible. Hey girl! I have heard that you can freeze it. If I did, I would do it in small portions. Wrap really well in plastic wrap, then put in a ziplock bag and maybe also in an airtight container. And freeze that way. Thaw by taking it out of the freezer and keeping it wrapped until it comes to room temp.

Sweetex Flex Cake and Icing Shortening, Sweetex Golden Flex Cake and Icing Shortening, and Sweetex Golden Flex Icing Shortening. The prices vary slightly among the three. Is there actually a difference and what would it be? Thank you for your insight!

I think it's personal preference. I think Wilton clear vanilla has a distinct flavor, so there is a difference. Although it's not a bad difference!

Sometime the sweetex gets chunky and doesn’t mix with the butter all the way no matter how long I whip it. Has this ever happened for you and if so how do you fix it? Thanks for the video! 🥰

It has happened to me when my butter was too soft. You need the butter to be on the softer side, but not warm. So if you press on it with your finger, it will make an indent (with some resistance). I hope that makes sense!
