I find this episode great, very clarifying about what the romantic revolution (not) was and how it is relevant today. For me it is a good introduction to read more about this topic in the future. I very much enjoy your late environmental history approach, interesting to hear that these rebels also were thinking deeply about human-nature relationships. Especially the fragment about Alexander von Humboldt on how he developed a vision of seeing an ecosystem in South-America which resembles today's concept of socio-ecological systems. I am fascinated by the integration or 'transdiscipline' of social and enviromental sciences in history, there is a lot to gain and discover by broadening the view. Lately I have been reading works of Fridolin Krausmann which I used for my masters thesis. I followed my lectures at the masters degree in Sevilla called: social sciences applied to the environment, at the... indeed Alexander von Humboldt building. Finally I understand why. My question to you is Philipp, why is it so hard for this fringe discipline to enter mainstream history? And could you do something about it? Groetjes uit het zonnige Brussel, Hendrik Zeinstra
