Great job Tom! Well done! It's coming really good! Useful to have a bolt extractor available. Saved me a few times! Looking forward for the next episode :)

Yeah I was quite happy when it finally gave, I’ve never had success with them before, but probably wasn’t using them right 😂

Top job as usual Tom. Ever since I snapped an 'easy out' bolt extractor trying to get exhaust stud off, my nuts tighten involuntarily whenever I see someone else using one 😂. Can't wait to see the brake mods.

Haha, this is the first time I’ve ever got them to work, I’d written the set off as a cheap set, but now I think I just had a poor technique.

Using a rattlegun very carefully will loosen disc bolts easily without damaging them. Need an allen bit suitable for impact though. I replaced my bolts with titanium ones.

I’ve had one on the list for a while, hopefully £££ will allow me soon 😂

I've been considering R6 brakes since I got my FZ. Looking forward to those brake mods 🙂

Yeah I’m looking forward to trying them out, I couldn’t believe the weight difference compared to my six pots!

My Cush drive rubbers were like stone, cracked and falling apart on my 87FZR1000, but surprisingly cheap from Yamaha NZ. Got the last set in the warehouse. As well as every model of FZR they also fit FJ 1100/1200 apparently. :-)) Bad news is the front rotors are way under spec, need new ones. Also anyone out there with any 87/88 fairings they want to sell??

That piston puller is a handy tool. I want one but can't find it on ebay...

Yeah it made short work of the brake callipers pistons! I got mine off amazon, so I’ll put a link for it in case it’s helpful.

Another great video! Do you have a link to the stud/bolt extractors as they looked to have worked petty well on the disc bolts and I am doing mine soon?

Thanks Michael, I’ve had them a few years but it was something like this I picked up www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07XXX149Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_2BB85WNKGPG6A3MRTRM0 Had mixed results with them but they worked great here!

Thank you for sharing. What size and model of fresh tyres have you got? I'm asking because I've tried 120/60 on front, instead of standard 130/60 or 120/70 seen everywhere, because handling was not good enough for me. On the rear I've tested 180/55 and 160/60, but ended up with standard size 170/60 because it was a good compromise. I've gone to Dunlop because handling was better than other brands. I wish I had tried size 120/65 on front. Maybe 120/60 is not the best option, but size 130 is definitely a no no for me. BTW... My bike is a year 90 with 43mm forks, and made them able of showing up 10 or 20mm, for lowering the bike on front to improve handling at the expense of loosing stability. I only get some shimmering eventually when hitting a bump with the rear tyre but I fix the problem by accelerating right afterwards.

I’ll have to double check and get back to you, I managed to improve handling with the jack up kit (dog bones) for raising the rear which helped. Otherwise forks are on stock settings (though they are the later ones)

Been easier to clean the front wheel with no disc on ?
@tomsworkshopprojects

Yeah it was definitely easier, although mine could have really done with a repaint, a good scrub was good enough for this stage 👍🏻
