You’ll do fine with the shock. Seeing everything else you’ve done that won’t be a problem. Great progress!

Cheers Ken, spoiler alert: Not quite 😂 but failing in plain sight is my ethos, so it’ll be there for all to learn from!
@kenwolfe56979 ай бұрын
@@tomsworkshopprojects That’s alright, I’m sure you learned too. I hadn’t worked on suspension until I had someone to walk me through it the first time. Make sure you use seal bullets on shocks. I’ve ruined a brand new seal by not using a seal bullet. For forks I just use a lubbed up ziploc baggy that I’ve cut the locking part off of.
@tomsworkshopprojects9 ай бұрын
@@kenwolfe5697 yeah I’ve used the zip bags for my forks before and it works great. I used tape on the threads instead of a seal bullet, but I’ll be doing it again down the line so may pick one up 😂

Great video again, Tom. I was secretly hoping to see the races being driven in (a bit I always struggle with) and your method of torquing up the headstock bearings. Subframe looks superb and the shock linkage is always such a satisfying job, especially when done as thoroughly as you have.
@tomsworkshopprojects9 ай бұрын
Thanks Tom! I’ll do the torquing once the forks are in, but it looks like a different procedure to my FZR which had two locknuts. Do you mean the head races?

You've all the gear mate. I like your style. Given the space (yes I see you just have a single car garage but that's more than me😂) I'd like to have the gear to do it all myself too. It must be very rewarding. You're doing a cracking job in my opinion. Anyone restoring cult late 90's early 00's super sports bikes ranks highly in my eyes. Well done 👏👏👏

Cheers Nick! Haha yeah I’m really making the most of every inch in here. It’s not lost on me how lucky I am to have this space, as it’s taken me 12 years of working on bikes in driveways, the street and damp sheds to finally have it 🙏🏼 I’m tempted to do a workshop tour vid one day but not until I’ve tidied it up a bit 😂

When l did the suspension linkage and swingarm on my ZX7R, l had every intention of fitting grease nipples like the zx6r/zx9r have. Unfortunately, it wasn't quite as straightforward as l thought, so l left it standard. Ashame Kawasaki skipped the 7 with that. Thanks for another great video.

My current guess is 1-2 week's time. I've got one fork stanchion that's playing hard to get (out) so I've got a bigger vice coming this week. If I get it out, it'll be a few days and then I'll have the whole rolling chassis back together quite quickly then the 'Forks' episode & 'Wheels" episode will follow.
