...because they aren't regulated by the ftc or fda unless enough people die from taking it and the gov can link the health problems back to the supp. They sometimes don't even have the compounds listed on the labels, absorption is often terrible, and there can be serious side effects from taking them. Why would your doctor want to recommend you take something that isn't well regulated and usually has unproven health benefits?

Talk to your doctor who won't have any idea, and he will recommended you to some one else that will give you a vague "no answer." and remember to pay the bill.

hyaluronic acid has made a wonderful difference for what I believe is arthritis in my hips. The aching in my hips even sitting, lying down would be awful at times. I never experience it while using hyaluronic acid. If I stop using it, by about a week in, I've had increased pain. I buy it online at Puritan's Pride, I use their brand, 100 mg 2x a day. I have torn meniscus & osteoarthritis in my knees; I can't say it has helped with that - I don't know. I buy a year's supply in Nov or December, when it's like buy 1, get 2 free! sure hope this helps someone.

Do you think collagen helps any kind of knee problems ?
@gaywrestlingclasses4724
@gaywrestlingclasses4724 6 ай бұрын
Collagen is broken down in your digestive tract into it's base proteins (ie no longer collagen) and those go into your blood stream which doesn't reach into your meniscus so supplementing with it is unlikely to help.

Hello doctor. I don't know where else to ask so I am asking here. I live in India or else I would hava taken my mom to your clinic in a heartbeat because here the doctors I believe have been misdiagnosing her for a long time. I have a question, I hope you will have some sort of answer to it. So my mom has Myofascial pain syndrome for which we used to go to chiropractor here, of late she has been complaining about a sharp pain right near her meniscus. I have been repeatedly asking the doctor to check out if she has meniscus tear or not but he just ignored it saying it's all in her head. This has been going on for the last 2 years and I believe it's this that has led to the bow like slight bending of her tibial bone. It's has bowed out, I believe what had started as a functional problem now has taken the form of structural problem. Now yesterday I took her to a different doctor and he said she needs to get her knee replaced. I just want to know if this entire condition is reversible or we should go ahead with the knee surgery? I am sorry for the essay I wrote, it's just that I am terribly lost.

Hey Salma, so sorry to hear that your mother is going through this :-( that must be very tough for both of you! There are multiple possibilities as to what the problem is so it is hard to tell you how to fix it. Here are 2 videos for likely issues with the knee if you would like to learn more: "How To Test & Heal A Meniscus Tear Without Surgery" kzbin.info/www/bejne/roumeWapr9Osnck “How To Fix Inner Knee Pain In 2 Minutes” kzbin.info/www/bejne/oXevnohqj62MjJY On a side note, it would be a great idea to setup a virtual consultation with Dr. David so that he can see what is happening and discuss these issues with you and your mother. Hi Jennie, You are very welcome! We are so glad you found this information helpful. We appreciate you tuning in. Just in case you are interested we have a playlist for knee meniscus issues you might also find helpful. You can access it here: “Knee Meniscus Help” kzbin.info/aero/PLJVIPiFvv1mZ9Vh4eRH3UlmMeqOUtB-6a Start with one or two exercises, beginning with the smallest range of motion and the lowest intensity. As you feel stronger, you can gradually increase both the range of motion and intensity. It’s best to do these exercises every day throughout the day. Aim to tire out the muscle without losing form or control. Consistency is key. Always avoid working through pain; soreness and mild discomfort are normal, but pain is not. Thank you again for tuning in. We'd love to hear how you are doing as you progress.🙌 Please take care!🧡

So many comments on here about Doctors not being interested in supplements. How very true. I take three and l told her, she actually gave me a smirk as if to say “ you’re wasting your time”. She then added she doesn’t recommend anything she’d never heard of, l was talking about Moringa ? if she had never heard of that she shouldn’t be working anywhere. So, it’s healthy supplements V PHARMACY’S, or HARMACY’S if you include the long list of side effects that come with them.

Hi @ritageorge2348 we understand your frustration with the way some doctors respond to supplements. It can be disheartening when they seem dismissive of options that are important to you. It’s true that many doctors are more familiar with pharmaceuticals than with supplements like Moringa. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and for your support!

I have meniscus tears in both knees! I didn't know for quite a while because for the past two years I have been experiencing terrible pain that turned out to be early onset polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR). I thought the pains in my knees was from the PMR. A couple of months ago I was finally diagnosed with PMR and began treatment. The pain from the PMR reduced, but the knee pain didn't and that's when we discovered the meniscus tears. I am thankful for your information! I will be working on healing and hopefully, with the help of these supplements, I can get back to mobility. I will definitely watch the meniscus series. Many Many many many many many thanks. There just aren't enough words to tell you how thankful I am for your information. 👍👍👍👍👍

Hey Doc what do you think about taking HGH for meniscus tear repair?
@epmanualphysicaltherapy
@epmanualphysicaltherapy 8 ай бұрын
Hi Ryles, studies show they work but it is a temporary fix. The root cause of the issue needs to be addressed or the issue will present itself again. In most cases, the root cause is a muscle imbalance stemming from the glutes. It would be like if someone received bariatric surgery. They will lose weight but if they do not change their eating habits the weight will come back.

If I remember correctly collagen is a group of proteins which once broken down in the digestive track break into their base parts and are no longer collagen and are treated like any other protein within your body. It will also be floating around in your blood stream and since the meniscus gets very little circulation and non for more advanced tears it is unlikely that collagen will get anywhere close to your injury

Hey Medden! Generally speaking, yes they can be taken all together safely. you don't need to take all the supplements talked about in the video if you don't want to, our goal is just to educate people about making better health decisions. What's important is finding options that work for you as you know your body better than anyone. To find a solution you may need to try different supplements that you find beneficial. We suggest that you consult with your primary care physician if you have any concerns about certain supplements or would like specific advice on the right dosage for you.

While Dr. Middaugh did misspeak a little about how the turmeric and curcumin are within the supplement, what you said isn't entirely correct either. Curcumin is a compound that is found naturally in turmeric. It is mostly this particular compound that gives turmeric it's anti-inflammatory benefits. Turmeric, however, is more than just curcumin and Turmeric taken as a whole food is more beneficial to your body than simply taking the curcumin extracted by itself.

A physical therapist is not a nutritionist and recommending supplements is outside of their scope of practice and this video demonstrates why, this video is packed with misinformation. First off, before you take any supplements you should have your bloodwork done to determine what you are deficient in. Vitamins are not harmless, water soluble vitamins can be problematic and one of the most common offenders is recommended here, Vitamin C. Vit C became associated with health when sailors would have citrus and their scurvy went away, modern science has not found any evidence that it helps with sickness and the overdosing through supplementation common with vit c makes it oxidant in your system. Vit D supplementation has also not been shown to increase vit D absorption but has been linked to heart disease. I will also mention that while anti-inflamatories are good for chronic inflammation, inflammation is part of the healing process and if you are undergoing PRP for meniscus repair they can actually inhibit the healing process. Also, ligaments don't hold in synovial fluid. I don't know if you misspoke or what there. As for Turmeric, the science behind supplementing with it is dodgy at best, the more likely outcome is you become more susceptible to kidney stones. Honestly, for credibility sake, you should probably take down this misinformation riddled video
